Publisher's Summary

If only I'd never signed that contract. Or accepted the one I didn't.

My husband doesn't trust me. Not that I can blame him.

But he needs me, needs my image. I need his connections. And I have to find a way to convince him to set aside our differences.

There's one way that always works.

Even when we hate each other, our bodies betray us.

The one place we've never disagreed is in bed.

Except this is about more than just us.

And even Luka Zoric's legendary control breaks sometimes.

Book two of three.

A Bitter, resentful 1st year for Luca & Brooklyn

Part 2 of Brooklyn and Luca’s story starts and ends with drama and regrets. There is plenty of inner reflection and resentment toward the other and little progress toward trying to forgive. They both are impulsive and tend to act out and present the worse to each other to hurt or control and then seem surprised when they get The desired reaction. Luca behaves the worst though because at least Brooklyn tries to earn understanding and forgiveness. Her lust for him though gives him the ability to continue to treat her badly in the name of betrayal which all had occurred before they reunited. Also he is stupid not to realize that the real enemy is Monica Shore. Guess the reader will be waiting to the end of the entire 3 sibling narrative (including sister EmZ’s future trilogy) until she gets her just rewards. So this installment is mostly sad as we see a marriage that could have had promise limp along with bitterness and regret. The sexy scenes are at times hot and at other times very predictable. The narration was first rate though duet narration rather than the back and forth by chapter would have enhanced the performance. As to the plot, very little occurs in this portion other than the struggling couple getting a dog they both love, and the reintroduction of the nemesis from book 1, so if you need to save you could probably skip this one and move on to book 3 of the trilogy. This is again an example of greed and lack of editing because what else explains the excess verbiage and Why each sibling could not have had a well constructed, properly edited single volume and the Entire Story made into a Trilogy.

Love love this series hate hat cliffhangers!

Love the story although not much happened during book two except more arguing and disagreements. I thought Lukka should have been more forgiving considering how he lied and used her when they first met.

Wanted more

I personally loved the book. However, I wish there would have been less hate. More romance.

Terrible!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR CREDIT!!!

I was really disappointed with this sequel. I wanted to like it, which is why I even gave this second part a chance, but overall it was terrible. I know that there will always be a character in a book that we’re suppose to hate, but that person should NOT be the MC. The MC was written poorly. She’s stupid, weak, and has absolutely no backbone. She can’t make a simple decision and when she does, she falters. She was completely disappointing, and no real respectful woman would ever allow a man to treat her this way. There’s no character development within the two MC’s nor was there even a story here. They both disliked each other over a simple, pathetic issue. It was as if the writer didn’t know where to go with this. I will skip the third book and just read the reviews. Overall, keep searching for another book. This one isn’t it!

Disappointed

I thought by book 2 they would have their childish behavior under control. The tit for tat back and forth is frustrating and consumes most of the story.

EXCELLANT NARRATORS!!

In bk. 1 The Sham I didn't think much of Brooklyn because of her insecurities. But in The Contract bk.2 you see her really struggling to get her career into the national spotlight. She is trying to become the New Face of Maxilene Cosmetics. But her arch nemesis Monica Shore is doing all she can to undermine Brooklyn and Luka's marriage and to steal the Maxilene Cosmetics for herself.

We know this isn't going to end good, because there is a bk. 3. Luka is determined not to fall in love. At times he treats Brooklyn cruelly and I just wanted her to leave him. She was trying so hard to be a good wife despite the fact there marriage was for convenience and not love.

I loved the Nassau family vacation they took. I really was happy to here Stefan and Tori's good news. Its always great to have a baby in the storyline. I am not a pet owner so Mr. Kibbles didn't do anything for me. When I think of a family unit its with a child not a dog. Sorry Mr. Kibbles!!

I would have to say that 50% of this story is sex. The rest of the story is ups and downs for the couple. They take one step forward but 2 steps back. But even with this I love the storytelling skills of Stella Grey.

The Audible Narration by Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York is Excellent!!

Wow

This second book was literally like watching a car crash. You just can’t take your eyes (ears) off of it. It is so hateful at times I really had to stop reading. Brooklyn ... Luca.... GAH! Both of them stress me out. With that being said I AM FUCKING HOOKED on their story! I can’t wait until the next book.

So good

I did it again...started a series and take forever to finish it 😬 I swear I don't mean to. Glad book 1 was so memorable and I remember how it ended ☹ Brooke is being put through the ringer, but oh sweet revenge. Love the steamy power play 🥵

MC drove me insane.

I was totally disappointed in the story line. I found myself yelling at the MC. I was seriously thinking who allows someone to continue to disrespect them and then in the same chapter pull down her pants to have sex. Freaking unbelievable. I could not understand why the MC never stood up for herself. She drove me insane. I feel as if the book had a lot of excess verbiage like it could've just gotten straight to the point in some chapters.

Wow!

This was such a great series!! I loved and devoured each one right after each other. It was a crazy ride to watch and at times you get blind sided but so worth it! Definitely worth the credit or coin!
Narrative was outstanding as well!!
(Side note: I do think it would have been beneficial to listen to the series prior to this one first, but it’s not a necessity to still get all of the awesomeness out of this series! )

loved it

The only negative I have about this series is each book is too short.
I love the narration and the characters, they are written very well and you feel for them all.
