Story
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

Publisher's Summary
"The Coordinate is a thrilling adventure...as if we're following a team of Lara Croft and Indiana Jones as teenagers.... A highly entertaining read...." (Self-Publishing Review)
Logan West and Emma James grew up together but are now high school seniors going in totally opposite directions after graduation. When they are assigned to work together on one last history project, they hardly expect the monotony of high school life to change.
Instead, as they decode a series of unexplained clues hidden within their history project itself, Logan and Emma manage to unfold an ancient mystery that has baffled scientists and archaeologists, one with powerful implications for the present day. As they embrace the adventure they've stumbled upon and a growing romantic attraction to each other, Logan and Emma find themselves caught up in a dangerous, high-stakes race across the globe to decipher mankind's past in order to save humanity's future, not to mention their very own lives, with a mystery that just might reach toward the stars....

a little disappointing
Alright, the first part of the summary saying it was like Lara Croft and Indiana Jones as teens is wrong.
I usually pass on the self published ones because there is usually very little or no editing.
This could of used some editing
It was like he took every worn out trope in the genre and crammed it in. I think he watched the entire Ancient Aliens show before he wrote this. It's hopelessly predictable and dragged out. Found myself doing little things around the house while I waited for it to end. That usually means my mind's lost interest.
According to his bio he dictated this to his phone during his commute. I'd think that would give him more time to come up with something a little more creative and intriguing. I rarely give anything 2 stars. I only do when it's a struggle to finish.

After reading some reviews I almost passed
I read some negative reviews which painted the book and the two high school students in a negative light, complaining how it was just a fancy teen romance book thinly veiled in a scifi cover and how unbelievable the kids solutions were when trained scientists could not crack it. I found the book quite entertaining and I found the reasoning behind the two kids doing what adults had failed to do believable in the presentation. I look forward to book 2.

Fun Daydream
This was fun to listen to - the narrator does a pretty good job with the different accents, but it seems that all the g-men sound the same. SPOILER ALERT: It was mostly plausible up to the point where two teenagers hop a plane to Italy. And then they met the POTUS. At that point it was pretty far-fetched. (Okay, it’s a FANTASY). My one pet peeve eas committed by the author - twice - when talking about the time of day: “At 4am in the morning”. One or the other, please. Not both.

The narration really made this!
This was an interesting read and the narration was very good. The mystery and discoveries were compelling, and though the main characters are young the story isn’t too juvenile.

So, this is a YA novel. It reads better than The DaVinci Code. Mixed into an improbable caper, are interesting facts about science, history, math…little bits of knowledge subliminally being taught. Good stuff too.

I'm guessing it's a book for Young Adults but nevertheless, totally absorbing. Bearing in mind the theme, and as we got towards the end, I really thought it would get really cheesy and glib but no. It really is The Da Vinci code for kids,
