Publisher's Summary

Death had only ever been a small misunderstanding for the high mage. After his seventh reincarnation, he'd begun thinking of it differently, viewing it as nothing more than a slight hiccup in his plans.

But he'd forgotten one thing: When those plans get in the way of those higher up the ladder, punishment is soon to follow. And one more death brought faint consolation.

Sent to another world, he found himself in a stranger's body, though the worst part was that he was left with only the memories he'd built since his previous reincarnation. All the mage had learned before that point was gone. Finding himself in that challenging situation, his dilemma was between carving out his place in the sun and throwing up his hands in despair.

But giving in wasn't an option for Leg Ondo. The Brown Bear clan brooked no cowards. If fighting was the way to go, it was a fight to the death, to the last drop of blood. Most importantly, the new world needed to be explored and understood, the local iteration of magic in particular. Let nobody ever say that the youngest of the Bears was unworthy!

Strange

I’m a big fan of the shaman series. The author has lots of talent but there were some weird things about this book. There were several large leaps of logic that didn’t make sense to me. Time jumps that might have been me missing something or it could have been the author just jumping oddly. Two times people took credit for something they did not actually plan for nor could have. The adventure into the palace was just totally dumb and involved just dumb luck despite the MC suggesting he somehow planned it.

The characters are good. But they often become hyperbolic and extremely dramatic. There many good scenes but some events seem rushed or condensed.

I will continue the series and hope
It’s rough edges get polished.

One of my favorite authors!

Simply, spend the credit. So far I've enjoyed all his works and I think I might be close to listening to all of them. Not my favorite narrator but once I'm immersed in the story it just works. His style is just different or maybe it's his voice but heck I found myself staying up to finish. So all categories get 5 stars. Now for the next in the series.

A++

I am extremely surprised. I mean the book is called The Cub which in itself sounds like it may be garbage. This was not the case. the book was great. I am definitely getting the next book. I have seen the reviews for the next book, but I think people wanted more answesr and things to happen from this book. I am not saying that it won't happen, but I think that we are seeing the story build up for something fantastic. I can already tell I am going to be sad about the endings of these books bc of the way they may end. LOL.
MC is actually very likable. He is intelligent as well. There are a lot of big wigs of course, but I like his clan and their secrets. Great job Author. You made me a fan

Weird world but I couldn't put it down

I bought this hoping it was a LITRPG but it wasn't. The magic system in this world is very different but I thought this was very well written. I finished this in one sitting.

Isekai done right

An interesting world. The overall premise is fairly standard, but there are enough twists and new ideas that this comes across as a fresh new approach. Competent main character, storyline keeps moving.
