Publisher's Summary

A centuries-old curse, a mysterious amulet, and a young love reignite a vendetta that had died down long ago…When seventeen-year-old Samantha goes on a school-exchange trip to Scotland, she takes with her an old pendant that she found amongst her grandmother's belongings. As soon as she arrives at her host family's home, she is drawn into the country's tales and myths. Then she meets the dangerously attractive Scot Payton - a mysterious Highlander who soon conquers Sam's heart. Caught up in her feelings, she doesn't realize how much danger she's in. Payton's past holds a dark secret. A secret that has bound together both their families' fates for hundreds of years and is now also endangering Sam's life.

Maybe the book is good? Narration is AWFUL

This narrators voice was the most grating thing I've ever heard. Super monotonous and shaky. I couldn't take it. I don't even know what this book is about-I couldn't turn my focus away from the TERRIBLE narration.

Intriguing and well written

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book is good but I had to take some breaks during this because the accents were sooo thick. She did a great job with this book and bringing it to life. Ready for the next.

Any additional comments?

Good read.

Cringeworthy!

The narrator ruined this for me. He make Scottish accents was so bad I could not finish the book. She would drag out the words so long. The cadence was off and just so annoying. I don't know who even let this get published that way. Unbelievable.

DNF - 75%

I guess that I no longer understand the mindset of the Young Adult mindset. Everything is overly dramatic and rationale decisions are scarce. The storyline is interesting but got lost in the decision making and lack of thought process of the characters.

OMG so many twist and turns to keep you on edge.

The story of Peyton and Sam is a deep and challenging one. The end shows that a deep and meaningful love is worth fighting for. We should all be so lucky to find something in life to fight as hard for.

Great story bad narrator

I like the story like but the Voice and inflection of the narration was so painful to listen to. The whining in the voice was to much.

Teen romance

A bit too “Twilight” for my liking, but overall a decent story. Just not my cup of tea.

Sorry

Sorry ... still laughing. I have listened to many narrators attempting Scottish accents unsuccessfully but this has to be the absolute worst! I suggest this needs to be read not listened to!
