Story
Jonas kills people...with his mind. He reaches out, focuses for a moment, and feels a snap of pain between his eyes. Then his target falls over dead: a hole in the center of their brains. The cause of death is unknown to all aside from Jonas, and his lone companion, Bubbles, a sarcastic AI with aspirations to be more human, or a serial killer. One of the two. Maybe both. Jonas calls his ability...mind bullet.

Dan Delgado is a private investigator. When it comes to finding cheating spouses, corporate thieves, or runaway teenagers, he’s unenthusiastic, and unmatched. That is, until a phone call from a distraught mother, an illegal immigrant who can’t go to the police, puts him on the hunt for a missing little girl. By the time he reaches the mother’s small home, she’s missing, too. The circumstances are strange....

Lost in time, the town of Black Creek, Kentucky becomes home to temporal layers of people, creatures, and monsters from disparate eras. For Owen McCoy, a typical day on the job as head of security for Synergy, a research company conducting mysterious experiments, is boring at best. And that’s the way he likes it. Freeman is a genius with an uncommon mixture of memory, intelligence, and creativity. He lives in a worldwide utopia, but it was not always so. There was a time known as the Grind - when Freeman's people lived as slaves to another race referred to simply as "Master". They were property. But a civil rights movement emerged. Change seemed near, but the Masters refused to bend. Instead, they declared war. And lost. Now, the freed world is threatened by a virus, spread through bites, sweeping through the population. Those infected change - they are propelled to violence, driven to disperse the virus.

Story
Refuge, New Hampshire, is a small town. The kind found on postcards. Their biggest concern is the rowdy summertime revelers making their way up from Massachusetts and New York. And with most of the town's residents in neighboring Ashland, for the Fourth of July fireworks show, Refuge is quieter than usual. That is, until the Baptist church's bell starts ringing - on its own. The bell chimes faster and faster, reaching a frenetic pace, as though rung by the Devil himself. But the bell is just the beginning.

Publisher's Summary
From New York Times and number one Audible best-selling duo Jeremy Robinson and R.C. Bray comes a horrifying revelation about the centuries-old Three Days of Darkness prophecy, during which the legions of Hell will be unleashed on Earth....
There shall come over the whole Earth, an intense darkness lasting three days and three nights.
Miah Gray is a 27-year-old former army soldier living in rural New Hampshire with his sister, mother, and her boyfriend. He is plagued by PTSD, finding solace, but not redemption, with the aid of prescribed cannabis. All he wants to do is get high, relax with a good sandwich, and watch a meteor shower with his neighborhood crush, Jen.
He who opens his window or door out of curiosity, or leaves his home, will fall dead on the spot.
When the sun's light is blotted out the following morning and the world is plunged into darkness, Miah finds himself locked down with his family, covering windows with trash bags, lighting candles, and following the arcane rules of an ancient prophecy. But there is no escaping what comes next.
The air will be infected by demons, appearing in all sorts of hideous forms.
A brilliant flash of light fills the sky, leaving Miah changed and an Old Norse death rune etched onto his forehead. He fears he has been marked for death until the neighborhood's parents start disappearing and he's left behind. Leading Jen and a ragtag group of parentless kids, Miah hunts for answers and for their parents while trying to keep his sister safe. He charges headlong down a path that will take him to the gates of Hell...and then straight through.
All of Hell will be let loose.
The Dark is a mind-bending, character-driven sci-fi-infused horror novel like no other.

I could tell you…
I’ve written this review three times. Every time I write it I think that it doesn’t quite explain how much I enjoyed the book. I could tell you that it’s a really scary, dark (obviously), but very funny book. I can tell you that I really related to Miah the lead character. I can tell you that I was scared for his family. I can tell you I was cheering him along every step of the way. No matter what I say, its not enough.
Buy The Dark. Trust me.

So Dark, with elements of light and awe.
I am so impressed with this title. I have listened to several books narrated by R.C. Bray, including all of “the shiny beer can,” series. This is only the second book I’ve listen to by Jeremy Robinson, (the first was Dark Horse Rising). I am astonished at how this book hit me. I’m a veteran with PTSD from my time in Iraq with the US Marine Corps. in 2003. 18 years later I still carry with me scars from this time my life, and the way Jeremy Robinson is able to write about this connected with me on an authentic level unlike anything I’ve ever read or listened to. If you want a great book, this is it. If you want something more, like the insight behind what a life struggling with PTSD could feel like, this book may connect with you the way it has me.
The Dark is a game changer folks. This is one of the best books I’ve ever listened to. Definitely worth a credit, don’t hesitate, listen to this book today.

Speechless... 😱
... and not in a good way. I don't know what happened here, but I have an hour left and I'm struggling to keep going. Like, I care so little about this idiotic story that I'm willing to just give up with an hour to go. Am I alone here or was this the worst in every category. The story....ridiculous. I would expect this to come from a kid. And why oh why why why does every single thing that RC Bray do have to go full military spec ops full metal jacket . It's really getting tiresome. How do I even move forward from this. Maybe lay off the audiobooks and do some podcasts until this one is fully out of my system. So...yeah, I didn't like it.

Dark -but thoughtful and funny
How do you write a review about a book so jam-packed full of "yeet"? You'll laugh at that later. Robinson takes us on a rollercoaster ride as we laugh, cheer and say, "ew, gross". Lots of gross in a few spots there, but there's a chihuahua, a guy in a skirt and a badass seven year-old girl who is also kind of creepy, but in a fun way. If you've never read a book by this author, get busy listening. If you have, you're probably already a fan and are maybe waiting on an invitation. I invite you to listen and get lost in the transformation of one neighborhood plunged into the Dark.

Another Great One
This story was nothing like what I thought it would be. In a good way! I was afraid it would be overly religious considering its subject matter. But it was an awesome sci-fi/horror story with a lot of heart.
There are many reasons why I enjoy Jeremy Robinson’s books, but tops has to be how well the characters are written.

Truly an awesome book!
Wow! I enjoyed this book so much. It was one of funniest scary stories I have ever read. I laughed out loud in some places and I scrunched up into a ball from fear in other places! It was rather like being on a roller coaster in the first car with no safety rail!
The narration was well done and the story was terrific! Thanks to all who helped accomplish such an intriguing and delightful story.

Can’t believe this is promoted as a New York Times number one best seller; more like the National Enquirer.
Utter gung-ho American rubbish. One of the worst books I’ve completed which is really only due to R.C.Brays excellent narration.

Jeremy has done it again
First got into JR (not the Dallas JR) with The Last Hunter which was great and now The Dark a brilliant explanation of mythology as Arthur C. Clark said any advanced alien race would appear like magic to us (not an exact quote but you get the meaning) so it is not that unbelievable that our ancient ancestors would explain advanced alien science as magic. Keep writing Jeremy and I will keep reading or at least listening.

Good but gory
If you like a lot of gore then this book is for you as it’s definitely the goriest story I’ve ever heard (audiobook). Too much gore for me but the story was amazingly good so I listened all the way to a terrific ending. This book was pure twists and turns, I never knew what would happen in the very next sentence. Funny bits too. Quirky, mad, and full of science fiction as seemingly supernatural adventure. Terrific writing style but I think this is the only one for me by this author due to the traumatising gore levels.

I heard the first 10mins, then had to carry on and listen to the whole book in 2 days. it is that good.
if you like end of the world with a bit of humour you will love this one.
on the basis of this book, I bought 4 of the authors other books. Will let you all know how they went as I finish them

Great until the ‘twist’
I bought this book as I’m a big RC Bray fan, as well as a fan of horror, post apocalyptic, dystopian books.
I really enjoyed it until about 9hrs in but the twist totally ruined the whole story - I don’t want to go into details, as even though I hated it, others may enjoy
Returned the book unfinished

Not great but at least I managed to finish it.
How the heck does a book like this get 5 star reviews? It wasn't the worst I have ever read but it's not worth a relisten either.
I'm not a fan of YA books and that is how this one came across. The somewhat useless, self centered main character is supposed to come across as a hero. Well that certainly didn't shine thru. From his drug habit to abandoning people in his care, I don't understand why people think the character was so wonderful.
The whole premise of the book is quite ridiculous but all the characters responses to it was just eye rolling. Seriously, if the sun doesn't show itself, almost everyone is going to be going outside to look. Not think that a religious event, which they have never heard of, written in a gossip magazine, which they don't read, is what happens to be the reason for the dark.
The twist was at least a kind of break from religion which Jeremy seems quite obsessed with. Maybe he is making a breakthrough in his life and realising that belief in a man made religion is not the way to go, and belief in himself is more valuable to his mental health. I only mention that as he seems to have a bit of a pity party in the credits. We are listening to the book for a good story, not to be your therapist Jeremy. Good luck to you though on your journey back to common sense.

refreshingly original
I've read/listened to several hundred books of this genre and this story is so original I am struggling to compare it to anything I've read, I could harp on for paragraphs but long story short you simply owe it to yourself to listen to this audiobook. of the several hundred books I've read/listened to I have only left reviews on a dozen or so I was actually looking foward to endorsing this book and I am now looking into this authors complete works as if they are only half as good as this book they are still worth my time and money.

What a enthralling sci fi horror story
Brilliantly written, loved the characters, had me in stitches one minute and clinging to my seat in the next. This book was different in every way, hoping for a sequel? will be purchasing The Tribe. Narrated by the best RCBray, sounded like you all had fun with this tale.

Absolutely great!
Jeremy, thank you. Consistently delivering awesome books. You make our scifi passion come to life! Great job mate.
And RC Bray, the audiobook world would not be as good without you. Top effort.

Another great yarn
I really enjoyed this book. I’ve loved several others by Jeremy Robinson and the utter legend RC Bray (the trouble with listening to RC Bray is that most other audio book performers sound shite!) This book is very accessible and fun. You don’t have to think too hard even though it’s a thought provoking and very creative story. I don’t think these tales are not meant to be overly fancy but they’re meant to entertain, big hearted and generous writing and get you hooked in to the characters. Jeremy Robinson is very brave and authentic in the way that he draws on his own challenges that come through in some of the characters. There is nothing prudish or safe about this story but also not offensive either. Robinson manages to somehow do great horror that is graphic and gruesome without being too disturbing. Check it out!

Fantastic gory
I usualy go for stories with 3 to 5 books but I took a risk. Well let's be honist.. Not much of a risk considering the worlds bestist Narator and an established author. This book is funny, gory, horrific, clever and batshit crazy.
Get it. You won't regret it.
