Story
Following a trail of blood into the woods isn't the smartest thing I’ve ever done, but when I find an injured wolf, I can’t bring myself to leave him behind. That decision might end up being my last, because when a pack of wolves tries to attack us, it looks like we won’t make it out alive. The next day when I wake up in my bed, it all feels like a dream…except for the bite mark on my arm and the fever. When a mysterious guy with searing blue eyes comes into my bar, hovering around me all night, I’m more than a little creeped out. It turns out I'm a newly turned werewolf....

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Not as good as Vampire Academy
What did you love best about The Dead Girls' Dance?
I liked that the story line. I also like it that the author used the same narrator for all of her series. It's basically a pg rated – tween version of Vampire Academy. I like it that the story line really changes between books. The “love Interest” quandry is between a 16 year old college freshman and her 18 year old male roommate. So, they are determined not to go past 2nd base. No blood and gore in this series. It really doesn't get into how they get their blood (other than the unmentioned college kids disappearing). We find a new main character and this book sets up well for book 3. I never reached a point where, “I couldn't put it down.” Nor were there any places I bookmarked, like I did in the Vampire Academy. The character descriptions didn't really give me a good mind's eye as to what the characters looked like other than general descriptions ie “blonde and blue eyes- I couldn't take my eyes off of him.” I had a hard time buying into the characters, this might be done on purpose, since I feel that the audience is tween. I bought book 3 and 4. Book 3 is much better than book 2.
Have you listened to any of Cynthia Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I like her performance, but her man voice really could be better.

Why I drop the series years ago
When this series first came out I read the first book and was interested enough by the end to buy the 2nd. But, it was so bad I didn't complete it. Boring boring boring. I picked it up again and discovered I was right the first time.
Skip it. It's that bad. Dialog that just repeats the situation over and over. I barely made it though and only becuase I'd bought the book and fored myself to. I wouldn't do it again. I suggest Vampire Academy. House of night had a few good books. Go for the faerys after that. Sarah J. Maas is very good, The wickely lovely series by Melissa Maar, some Holly Black, etc.

I resent the endings of the first two books
They end on "cliff hangers" without even any attempt to end the story reasonably. You have to buy the next book to find out what happens in the middle of a fight. It is a tactic that I resent and abhor. I will not be purchasing any more of this series or from this author if this is what is in store.
