Publisher's Summary

She’s a woman on the run and desperate to avoid her hot, nosy detective neighbor.

Artist Savannah Cole has secrets. She can never stay anywhere too long or let anyone get too close. An obsessed stalker has her in his sights, and to protect her family, she can never go home, never share her art, and never fall in love.

But when she plays her music a little too loud, she collides with her good-looking, inquisitive, and far-too-hot neighbor, Detective Hunter Morgan. A man who makes her want things she can never have.

After an injury ended his military career with Delta Force, Hunt Morgan found his place at the San Francisco Police Department. He may not have been there for the men of his team, but now he does his bit to keep his city safe. But his mysterious new neighbor is disturbing his peace. One look at the beautiful blonde and Hunt knows she has secrets….

When a spate of mysterious attacks threaten Savannah’s life, Hunt steps in. He’ll keep her safe and he’s not going to let her run again.

As Savannah’s stalker closes in, she finds herself with her own private protector. Even with his brothers and friends at Norcross Security at his back, she’s terrified he’ll become the next target. But Hunt isn’t afraid of her deadly stalker, because he knows the hardest challenge will be convincing Savannah to take the biggest risk and stay.

Narrators bring this story to life beautifully!

Savannah Cole is an artist with a dangerous stalker after her. She has had to hide her talent, because she knows that her stalker will be able to find her again if she ever exhibits her art in public again. Detective Hunter Morgan is her next-door neighbor, and he believes she is hiding something, but he can’t figure out what it is. When he finally does actually meet her, he is intrigued enough to want to find out more, but she is so used to hiding herself, that she is afraid to open up to anyone.
There are some interesting aspects of this story. Hunt has a very strong support system, while Savannah has no support system. She has had to abandon her family and best friend to keep them out of the crosshairs of her stalker. She moves around a lot as a way of staying ahead of this horrid man. He likes to murder people who look like Savannah, and he is creepy in a very obsessive way. Hunt is pretty sure he can keep her safe, but he doesn’t realize that he needs to keep himself safe as well.

The story flows well, and the pace is fast. There is action at times, which is interspersed with good conversations at other times. The tension ratchets up toward the end; nevertheless, there is a distant feeling of tension throughout the entire story. There is a strong sense of camaraderie among Hunt’s friends, and his friends accept Savannah into their ‘family’ readily. She has been without a support system for so long, that she really blossoms under their care and attention. She gets a whole lot stronger as the story progresses, and it is awesome to observe. Anna Hackett always does an amazing job with her contemporary stories (and all of her stories, for that matter!).

Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton do an amazing job with the voice narration for this story. Their voices really bring it to life in a realistic way, which takes it to the next level from just reading it. Reading it is enjoyable as well but listening to it as it is told by professional narrators adds something special to the experience. Well done!!

What is happening?

I have read most of the books previous to this story. I was hooked and keep getting the next story. My problem is that I stopped caring about the heroine, also this deep , passionate, burn down the world kinda of love in a few days of meeting was not working for me. There was just a lack of depth in their interactions for me to buy into it … seriously considering continuing with the series.

waste of credit

The female also did the male voice some and it was terrible. It was a struggle to finish. Wasted a credit on this one

Engrossing Romantic Suspense Mystery!

Part mystery, part action adventure, part love story, The Detective hits the mark on all counts! The plot, the characters, the narration all brilliantly executed! Nicely heated with plenty of suspense and a few twists to keep you guessing, The Detective was throughly enjoyable and made me want to listen to the rest of what certainly sounds like an absolutely fabulous series! Five stars! I loved it and I want more!

Romantic suspense

The Detective is a story about two broken people who are thrown together by circumstances. Savannah is an artist who moves next door to Hunt. He can tell from the moment he meets her that she has secrets. Hunt is determined that he is going to protect Savannah, even when she pushes him away. Has Savannah’s past come back to haunt her or is it something else entirely? I loved the relationship between Hunt and Savannah and the mystery surrounding them was a nice touch.
Great narration as always by Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom.

Wounded Alpha Male

Love the protector-type. Alpha male who has a wounded past and overcomes it through love. It’s always about finding the right person. 2 people finding redemption through each other. It’s a little more than insta-love, but I felt the heat in the relationship and the extended family. Good suspense and HEA.

On the run

Savannah Cole both annoys and intrigues her neighbor, Hunter Morgan. The mystery that is Savannah will take all of Hunt's detective skills, but what a ride it is.

Love the chemistry and realness of the characters. Hate the bad guy and what had to happen in order for these two to meet, but super happy to read all about how they make it through.

Can’t wait to hear more!!

I really enjoyed this series! It was great to see see Hunt find his special someone. Savannah is very independent and self sacrificing but learns the valuable lesson that everyone needs help sometimes. I love how they encourage one another’s individuality. I also like how easily friendships are developed and cultivated. Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton were fantastic narrators as always and made me envision the characters as if I was standing right next to them.

Hunter & Savannah!

Savannah is hiding. On the run, changing her name, she is running from her past and to keep everyone around her safe, she cannot plan a future. She is Hunter's new neighbor and the attraction is immediate. Hunter can sense trouble is lurking, but will Norcross Security be able to keep her safe? Anna Hackett continues her romantic suspense series and gives us an emotionally driven, thrilling story. I love Hunter, his broody nature makes him a little aloof, but when he gives his heart, he is all in. Savannah is passionate, and her intentions are admirable, but to live in constant fear is not living. Getting to see all the Norcross men and women is a plus too, keeping the team feeling with a warmth of family. Love this series, and can't wait for more.

Stella Bloom plays Savannah perfectly. The artist is full of passion, for Hunter and her artwork, and Bloom has this flowing through the character. The underlying fear is a constant too, and she keeps that slight sound of desperation through her emotional experience. Teddy Hamilton as always knows his character, falls into the role and creates the perfect personality. Broody, sensual, protective, Teddy keeps Hunter real. This is a fantastic pairing and a great listen.

Excellent, and can be listened to as a standalone

This story had my attention from the start, not just for the characters although sexy, ex military and a member of the San Francisco PD didn't hurt my appeal for Hunt Morgan or that Savannah Cole an artist hiding a secret past didn't help my intrigue. It was the banter between the two, the spark you could feel, the Insta attraction. Then there was the fact you just want to know the answers. Who, what, why? How does it all end and do we get an HEA
Plus I could listen to Teddy H, read to me all day and Stella B, along with him was a win win.
I was gifted this book for a voluntary review. Thank you

So good!

I've read all the books in this series and so, I was extremely excited to read Hunt's book. Hunt is a detective and he meets Savannah when he goes over to her connecting townhouse to complain about the music. The chemistry is electric and flies off the page. I also loved how sassy, strong and brave Savannah is and this book, as usual, is a wonderful mix of romance, steam and action (Savannah has a stalker that she is trying to hide from). All the Norcross men and their women have scenes and I absolutely loved learning more about Hunt's brothers. The best part is that we now get to see the Morgan brothers get their HEA! Bring it on!

For my second time with this story, I listened to the audiobook and my goodness, Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton can read anything to me and I would love them. Their ability to master multiple voices and to infuse their voices with emotion make them 2 of the best narrators. Pair this with an excellent story and this was a fantastic auditory experience!

this is just another one that's the best .. .

Anna hackett you just keep getting better.
although the depth doesn't run super deep, it runs with Anna's writing which just keeps you rolling onto the next the story.
I love the angst and suspense in this book and the flow moves the plotline beautifully. our detective is like the other alpha boys in the series, Hunt falls for his lady who's sassy and talented. steamy scenes are woo hoo hot!!!
but i just love past characters coming in to add to the story, its always exciting to hear them all.
and here comes sentinel!!!! but before them, I'm looking forward to Ryder and Cam.
narrator's are brilliant as always 👌
