Publisher's Summary

The footprints were etched in the snow for miles, passing through walls and crossing rivers...appearing on the other side as though no barrier could stop them.

In 1922 a farmer in Adamant, Arkansas, awakes to a noise on his roof and finds his snow-blanketed yard marked with thousands of cloven footprints. The prints vanish with the melting snow...only to reappear 70 years later near the gruesome killing of Rachel DeLaune.

Years after her sister’s unsolved murder, New Orleans tattoo artist Sarah DeLaune is haunted by the mysteries of her past. Sarah has always believed that her sister was killed by a man named Ashe Cain. But no one else had ever seen Ashe. He had "appeared" to Sarah when she needed a friend the most, only to vanish on the night of her sister’s murder. The past bleeds into the present when two mutilated bodies are found near Sarah’s home, the crime scene desecrated by cloven footprints.

Wake me up!

What would have made The Devil's Footprints better?

Maybe it is just me, but I keep drifting off because the narration is dull and lifeless. I could not get through the story because I kept loosing my focus and finally gave up.

Would you ever listen to anything by Amanda Stevens again?

I love Amanda Stevens and I have heard Alicia Harding before, but for some reason she is just at a low on performance on this one.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alicia Harding’s performances?

I would have to preview her voice in the story first before I would invest again.

I listened to this twice to figure it out

Great book suspenseful but confusing. The beginning starts of eerie then after it jumps 70 yrs it changes and again 15 yes after that.... I still don't get where how the hoof prints happened in the past? find out in the end it's faked and how it was..... how and who did it 70 earlier? I picked up it might have been the original sheriff clay as a youth then his psychosis was passed in in abuse to his son then alters. but it's but clear there are too many answers. I hope there will be another book with more details. the ending ended sudden.

Great idea for a movie.

I really loved the suspense in this. The bit of a love triangle (always classic). I think it would be great on film.

on the struggle bus

the narrator was terrible. dull, dull, dull. hard to tell the difference from male and female. so many unanswered senerios. must have had a dead line to meet. too bad. this could have been much better.

Pretty good but jist ends

This wasn't a bad book. Some reviews are like super critical but it was really pretty good and not as obvious as some reviews say. You can guess some things but you pretty much have to read to the end to know for sure. The only thing I didnt like was that the book jist ended. There were still some questions that should have been answered but we were left hanging.

The book just ENDS... No explanation

The book had me until about 3/4 the way through. When I realized the very obvious conclusion, I was disappointed but wanted to finish the book to see what happened to the main characters but that never happens... The book just ends! You never find out what happened to the killer to turn him into a killer... just vague suggestions. You never know why ASH was so obsessed with Sara. You don't get to know the aftermath from Sara's point of view... You don't get to find out who Sara's father is. You can obviously guess but you never hear Sara confirm her knowledge.. If she even put the pieces together... But the fact that neither Curtis or his grandmother told her... was just stupid... Why would they not tell her? This books seems like there should have been more chapters about finding her father,.. What happened with Sean... What happened to Michael.. but the author had a deadline... and the story just ended. Irritating waste of time. The narration was not good. The male voices sounded like females - distracting. The only male voice that sounded non-feminine was Sean's.

A Town of Horrors

Very intriguing and suspenseful story with murder, defilement, hoof prints and symbols.Story implied who Sarah’s birth father was but never confirmed and never explained the hoof prints made 70 years ago either.Narrator was ok.
