Publisher's Summary

It has been two decades since 9/11.
The enemy has been patient. The enemy has been learning. The enemy has been adapting.
The enemy is ready to strike again....

A new president offers hope to a country weary of conflict. He’s a young, popular, self-made visionary...but he’s also a man with a secret.

Halfway across the globe a regional superpower struggles with sanctions imposed by the Great Satan and her European allies, a country whose ancient religion spawned a group of ruthless assassins. Faced with internal dissent and extrajudicial targeted killings by the United States and Israel, the Supreme Leader puts a plan in motion to defeat the most powerful nation on Earth.

Meanwhile, in a classified facility five stories underground, a young PhD student has gained access to a level of bioweapons known only to a select number of officials. A second-generation agent, he has been assigned a mission that will bring his adopted homeland to its knees.

Former Navy SEAL James Reece must embark on a top-secret CIA mission of retribution twenty years in the making in this riveting and timely thriller that will leave you gasping for breath.

Critic Reviews

"A propulsive and compulsive series. Jack Carr’s James Reece is the kind of guy you’d want to have in your corner. A suspenseful and exhilarating thrill-ride. Jack Carr is the real deal." (Andy McNab)

blasted through the series

NGL, Rogan bought me here, Carr kept me going. Eerily close to life with how fiction and reality go.

Good Book but Writers Bias is clear

The writer needs to keep in check his bias towards democrats, blacks, Muslims and his love of guns. They creep in and sometimes spoil the good story.

Captivating

Expertly researched, written in a captivating manner drawing the reader into the storyline and showing Jack Carrs' experience as a novelist to take the reader on a epic journey. Although a work of fiction the novel is Savagely real and Terminally accurate and turning each reader into a True Believer.

enjoyable but

I did enjoy the story but its not as good as his last 3. it kind of felt more like the president was the main character rather than James reece. like I say it was still a good listen and if you liked the others you should give it a go but for me the story fell abit flat

Jack Carr’s best book yet

Big fan of Jack Carr’s books, however this is a big step up from the last 3 books which I didn’t think possible.

In a class of its own

As with the 3 preceding novels, superb narration, non stop twists and turns with excellent plot throughout.
The research is fantastic and knowing the authors background and current state of the World the accuracy is very sadly believable.

Another good read/listen!

Having listened to all Jack Carr audiobooks now, I have a good idea of the general flow.

I find there is always a lot of time spent setting things up for a fast paced finish. This is ok but do find the first half of the story is slow going.

Ray Porter does a great job.

Looking forward to the next!

Dull is an understatement

Having liked the rest of this series I hate to say this... this book is unbelievably boring. I have listened to the first 4 hours waiting for some sort of action to take place and there is none.
Seems more like a bad history teacher reading dull facts from a textbook.
I don't know how I lasted the 4 hours... the first 15 minutes set the tone. I wish I had stopped earlier but I was expecting action to start and persevered on hopefully but to no avail.
Don't waste your time on this.

Could not stop listening.

Firstly, let me start by saying that Ray Porter is an amazing narrator . I could and DID listen to him apply his craft all the live long day. Thanks Ray.
Jack Carr, Jack Carr, Jack Carr. I loved all four of your books so much that I listened to them one after the other without a break. They were informative and riveting. You have a gift that must be shared with us all. Without question, I recommend these books to anyone who likes this type of genre.
More PLEASE.

Close to the bone

I found this to be very information heavy, I enjoyed the story and I'm a super fan of James Reese...I did however find myself switching of at times. Can't wait for the next one..need to find out about the letter from his dad.

Very Real and Frightening

I wasn’t sure when I picked this book after finishing another excellent book, but am happy I did so as I learnt much, maybe too much to feel comfortable. How very real and frightening are the scenarios presented. I pray they do not eventuate. With the presence of Covid 19 in our daily lives and the strong likelihood it came from Wuhan’s level 4 laboratory, one has to wonder why scientists must play God with pathogens that could destroy not just human life but possibly all life on our precious planet. This is a clever yet timely book written with skill and obvious deep knowledge. Truly the portrayed events are not just frightening but are horrific. A very compelling story.

Brilliant

Thought provoking, excellently researched and well written ‘fiction’ for the thinking among us. The author’s discipline and thoroughness brought on my his military training is in every word and the book only benefits.

Extremely terrifying and absolutely riveting story of what could happen in our world today.
Superpower nations like the two in this story plus other Nations at War with them is an amazing story. The Narrator Ray Porter does a fantastic job of keeping us listeners on our toes chapter after chapter. The Author Jack Carr is a fantastic writer. Thank you!

Absolutely great book, Jack Carr never disappoints

Really enjoyed this book, as usual Jack Carr never disappoints.
The narrator's change in voices for the characters is classic.
