Expands on 'Extreme Ownership' - Worth It!
Jocks and Leif return to narrate their next instalment, an expansion on Extreme Ownership. So rear or listen to that first, this will make more sense. In saying that, they do repeat some things from the first book, but it goes a long way to further critical analysis of the concepts in Extreme Ownership AND to ensure there is clear understanding of the dichotomy that does exist in leadership.
If you are interested in becoming a better leader, understanding leadership principals or just love the guys talking about their history and lessons, this is a must get - BUT do Extreme Ownership first. Enjoy

Basically continuing on from the first book.
If you have listened/read to the first book - extreme ownership -, you will enjoy this book. It answers a lot of the questions I had, or problems I thought of while progressing through the first book. As too much ownership can be detrimental and probably end up doing the opposite effect the book initially claimed.
This book discusses accounts with individuals who have read the first book and acted upon its advice that has turned to the worst and Jocko/Leif giving assistance and guidance getting them back on track. It also has littered through the book more scenarios used within combat/training that discusses leadership from their previous experience within the Navy Seals. Overall its a great addition and I read the books one after each other.
I do feel however -Extreme ownership- is the stronger book out of the two. But more or less feels an expansion of extreme ownership than a standalone book... if that make sense. But that could be a good thing as it flows nicely on wards to continue telling the story/advice.

Outstanding read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! lots of lessons told in an easy to understand and put into practice way. I'm honestly hoping the authors come together and produce a third book to accompany the first two. Definately worth the read.

Adds nuance and balance to Lessons in EO
Structure in a similar way to Extreme Ownership, The Dichotomy of Leadership injects additional meaning to what a well rounded leader should be. TDOL helps clarify areas from EO by tempering the advice with the complexity that is apparent in real decision making paradigms.
It has the usual mix of military and business case studies, which are very welcome. However it probably had ever so slightly less business ones this time round.
Either way, devoured this book and would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Extreme Ownership.

Consume. This. Now.
This and Extreme Ownership apply to damn near everything in life in the most uncanny way and it’s glorious. As you go through it you’ll find that situation you encounter, personal or professional, can/will file neatly under a chapter title from either book.
Read it. Apply it. Thrive.

Second Best Leadership Book
The best is their first book "Extreme Ownership". This picks up where that leaves off.

another approach
although you don't have to read all of the books, it helps you consolidate what you learn. this read is excellent for reaffirming all what you have read before but without all the full battle stories. love it
