Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

fighting all the way. I liked it. epic adventure
I like how this book pulls you along. Frank will get his in the next book. so just close you eyes and picture this world in your minds eye and you find that you don't want it to end. this author makes you feel the story. but to be honest he could have developed the supporting cast better. but the story is all about Ben.

A very good read
Book two continues the story and introduces new characters. By the end of the book I thought there was too many characters and that spoiled it a little. Although overall it was still fast paced with a decent story there was several times when it became a little too "samey" and I found my mind wandering, which, with this book was no good as new characters were popping up to often and I had to rewind to find out who they were for it all to make sense.
