Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Lorraine Heath continues her Once upon a Dukedom series with this lush love story of a duke who discovers what he desires in a wife may not be what he needs....

Hugh Brinsley-Norton, the duke of Kingsland, is in need of a duchess. However, restoring the dukedom - left in ruins by his father - to its former glory demands all his time, with little room for sentiment. He places an advert encouraging the single ladies of the ton to write why they should be the one chosen, and leaves it to his efficient secretary to select his future wife.

If there exists a more unpleasant task in the world than deciding who is to marry the man you love, Penelope Pettypeace certainly can’t imagine what it might be. Still, she is determined to find the perfect bride for her clueless, yet ruthlessly charming employer.

But when an anonymous note threatens to reveal truths best hidden, Kingsland has no choice but to confront the danger with Penelope at his side. Beguiled by the strong-willed, courageous beauty, he realizes he’s willing to risk everything, including his heart, to keep her safe within his arms. Could it be the duchess he’s hunting for has been in front of him all along?

Great story...well worth waiting for

Lorraine Heath out-did herself with this book. The story was well-written and creative and the characters were well-developed. The story was all about the Duke and Penelope but the supporting characters were interesting in their own right. Well-done, Lorraine Heath and Kate Reading.

I enjoyed the book!

Lorraine health is just an amazing writer! 😭 The story kept me on my toes. Hugh and Penelope were a beautiful pair. When the secrets were revealed, I screamed. When I tell you, I was shook! 😂😂😂. Let’s not forget Kate reading. She’s just so good! She is one of my favorite narrators ever!

Meh

Narrator Was awesome as usual. The story wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t engaging to the point that it kept my attention. It was very much a So-so plot. But it wasn’t done badly it just may be needed more conflict.

OMG I LOVED IT

I adore Lorraine Heath and this will probably end up in my favorites list! Kate Reading is simply a phenomenal narrator. I loved both Kingsland and Pettypeace. Two terrific characters. Nice tie in with Griff and Marcus, along with a few Trewloves tossed in for good measure. I can't wait for Marcus' story. If you loved the Sins for all Seasons series, you will love this one too. I can't recommend enough! Go, purchase, read and enjoy!!!

Delicious and devilish!

I love this series. Well written and performed. When so many plot lines in this genre are predictable, nothing is predictable here. The reader is rewarded with plots and twists, and sub plots and even more twists with each chapter, and the bonus is that new information is gleaned regarding prior characters or books in the series. I will look for anything written by Heath or performed by Reading. I know it’s going to be a winner.

A story so good, I clapped out loud when it finished.

This may be my first Lorraine Heath novel-I’m not a huge fan of too many explicit scenes in a book so I was initially hesitant to spend a credit on it, but the author wrote all scenes in such a way that I was gripped to every word involving the two main characters. Well done.

What a great story. I smiled throughout, laughed at times, and clutched my heart at others. May we all hope to have a bit of Kingsland in our soulmates.

Will listen again. Excellent narration, loved it all. Well worth the credit!

great!

I know that Lorraine Heath have written other books that might somehow tie into this series and the Sins for All Seasons series, but they're not narrated by Kate Reading, so I don't know if I can listen to them!

The Heath/Reading combination is great! I purchase any audio book out there by this team!
