Story
The first line of the ancient prophecy keeps playing over and over in my head, but I’m afraid to remember the rest. I don’t want to think about what’s coming for us - what’s coming for him. I’ve been keeping Brinnswick safe for years; I’ve been keeping my coven safe my whole life; and now, I was responsible for keeping Sebastian safe, too. It shouldn’t have been a problem, he was my vitmea viramore, after all, and I was used to having the weight of the world on my shoulders.

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Publisher's Summary
Strange things are happening all around Brinnswick. Things that remind me of a piece of my past I’d rather forget. Girls are being killed, drained of blood, and left with strange markings on their bodies. When I finally connect the cases together, a specialist is called in - though, what he’s a specialist of is beyond me.
When the chief assigns him as my new partner for the case, I can’t help but groan on the inside. Why of all people would I be assigned to Ailin Ellwood? The man is a disaster waiting to happen and a jerk to boot. A sexy jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.
What will Sebastian think when he discovers Ailin’s specialty? Will he make a run for it or will he stick around and discover a world of magic hidden beneath the city’s surface?
The Enchanter’s Flame is the first book in the Ellwood Chronicles. It’s a paranormal romance that contains explicit material and is intended for mature adults 18 years of age and over.

More Magic
A story of magic and mayhem, supernaturals and humans. A human detective is thrust into an investigation with magic overtones. He struggles to come to terms with beings he thought of only as myth are real... including his new partner. It is lighthearted, amusing, tearful, and captivating; all of the feels. The epilogue sets up both a potential continuation and/or a future volume. The main story is complete. The narrator, Kenneth Obi, is gifted with a variety of voices and speech patterns. He brings the story to life.

Couldn’t make it past Chapter 4
The narrator‘s voice was irritating and made Sebastian’s character into something completely incongruous... although admittedly the writing didn’t help. With the whining and shallow character presentation, I barely made it to Chapter 4. Sigh.

YA Story with Inept MC
I should have read more reviews before listening to this one. The story isn’t bad though the MC is too clueless for too long and does seem to be a 12 yo girl (rather than an experienced cop and soldier) for most of the story. This is more of a YA book. It’s not sexy story and the romance is clunky at best. The magic and supernatural part of the story line is the best part.

So repetitive
a solid 70% of this book is repeated. The line "I'm not going to hurt you" is used at least 20 times per chapter.
Also, the whole boy on boy factor is fine but gee it's so repetitive and too much!

Vitamins and Virus
It’s a promising first book, for a different magical world full of supernaturals: witches, warlocks, demons, faes, vampires and enchanter.
It was a struggle getting past Sebastian’s inner dialogue. He’s supposedly in his mid 30’s and has seen and experience horrible things. Yet he seemed like somebody who’s in their teens based on his inner musings. It became too irritating at times, that I had to take a break.
Ailin is 26 but seemed to be more mature and wise beyond his years. I feel like Sebastian should somehow be a bit more mature like Ailin.
All in all, the story was interesting. The world building was great. Some funny moments. Intense magical action.
Kenneth Obi brings out the story in a different way. Excellent storyteller.

Ok
I think this should be sold as YA. Not really my favorite. The story was ok, but the main character was whiny, annoying and acting like he was 12. There was almost no sex and the story was kind of predictable.

Frustrating
The story has so much potential, but it's terribly written. It's like if someone who knows what they were doing came up with a great plot and then some 14 year old running a Supernatural fanfic tumblr got their hands on it and fucked it all up. Sebastian, who is supposed to be a grown man and a cop, is written like an insecure, whiney and rather stupid teenager and I just want to slap him over the back of his head and send him to his room for most of the book. The way the story is often told by his inner (whiney) monologue was also a terrible idea. It could have been so good. I'm sad.

The awaking of the Enchanter
Sebastian was found when his parents died and raised in the Academy. Now he works as a detective and when murder cases grow by the day his boss teams him up with Ailen. A surly and strange man who takes him deeper into a world he never knew existed. Suddenly warlocks, witches and demons are all around him and after him. Why they don't know but that becomes clear when the bonding process between Ailen and Sebastian begin, they are soulmates. Ailen can't do nothing than protect Sebastian with his very own life. This first book in this series introduces us with a different magical world and the bonding between two souls, who at first don't seem to really like eachother. I love where this is going and can't wait to read what's up next. Kenneth Obi does as always an amazing job. He has a whole arsenal of voices and the way he does the demon gives you the creeps.

Why didn’t I listen to this earlier
I thought this would be a dark and heavy book in the fantasy genre.
It definitely had some dark moments but it was also snarky dialogues and sweet moments.
A human, Sebastian, realizes that the world isn’t what it always has seemed to be when he investigates several murders.
The world building and the storyline is really good. I will definitely listen to book two now!
Ken did a great job with this book, I knew he loved to do creepy voices for eerie creatures. May his legacy of love last forever!

Pleasantly Surprised With How Fast I Got Hooked
A lot of books take some building up to get you invested in the characters and their stories.. this book is not one of them. Straight off the bat I found myself engrossed and tied up with the plot development. the main character is well rounded, with emotions and inner monologues that (unless you were born with endless self confidence) is brutally relatable. Tugging on your heart strings and finding yourself rooting for him. throw in the supernatural element and I was totally hooked. I cant wait to read the next in the series and find out what happens next.
*On a side note the narrator Kenneth Obi has a great voice and differentiates between the characters beautifully*

Witches, demons, humans, oh my
The Enchanter’s Flame is book 1 in the Elwood Chronicles by Michele Notaro. I debated for months on when to start this one, out of fear that I wouldn’t like it because this was a new genre for me. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book has everything and more. It has good characters with great dialogue and chemistry, stellar narration, suspense, magic, and even an adorable snake named George (yes, I can’t believe I just described a snake as adorable either).
I can’t say enough good things about the narration. Kenneth Obi knocked this one out the park with his distinctive voices and comic timing. I found myself so wrapped up in the snappy and definitely comical conversations between Seb and Ailin that I almost forgot that I wasn’t actually watching a movie. I can count on one hand the amount of audios I have listened too that I can say that about. Also, I may have listened to Ailin’s baby talk to George about a dozen times because it was hilarious and so, perfectly unexpected.
If you like magic, suspense, and a little romance, then you must listen to this 5⭐️ narrated masterpiece ASAP.

Incredible story and narration
Wow!!!! I nearly didn’t buy this book because of a review saying it’s a fan fiction. I’m sooooo glad I ignored it and bought the book. Great story, fabulous narration. I’ve already bought the next in the series. So far I’m a huge fan.

ehhh
i really enjoy the later stories in this series, but i always forget about and then am immediately struck by the abusive behaviours displayed in this book.
it makes it incredibly uncomfortable to listen/read when a person with a massive amount of power completely manipulates and manhandles someone into a relationship/(the abuser's) life with no discussion and just a "this is how it is done in my (family/culture/experience/etc) and so this is how it will be" and all protests are ignored or dismissed and then later the (victim) character just completely forgets that they had any reluctance bc their life is sooooo much better now! (character with power) was right!

Reads like bad fanfiction
This novel reads like terribly written fanfiction.
The characters are so one dimensional and unbelievable that I found the entire experience of sitting through this book more difficult than a trip to the dentist. It almost feels like the author is an alien trying to write real human characters based on a brief description of human behaviour gathered from wikipedia.
The main character is supposed to be ex special forces and a detective, yet he acts like a brainless little girl with no real life experience whatsoever.
The love interest is equally unbelievable and listening to the two of them interact is so awkward it hurts. This is not how real humans interact.
The dialogue is stilted, unnatural, somewhat whiny and grating, the narration does not help this at all either....and then there's the story itself.
Grown men wandering around looking for a way to fight some kind of demon...okay, that sounds like a decent book...until next to nothing about the world is explained to you.
This book is an utter train wreck, the writing is lazy, the narration is terrible (I don't blame the narrator, I'd have lost my will to live if I had to record this too) and the characters are so poorly developed that I was found myself praying that the demon would swoop in and kill them all to end my suffering.
Do NOT buy this book.

Outstanding
I was utterly enchanted by Michele Notaro's intriguing characters that narrator Kenneth Obi brought to life. I bought the second book in the series before I'd even finished this first, knowing I'd want to continue following the well paced adventure right away.
