Jake's made a pretty amazing discovery. It seems like there may be other people who know about the alien invasion of Earth. Others who know about the Yeerks. Jake finds a website devoted to revealing the existence of the Yeerks, but he and the other Animorphs suspect it might be too good to be true. If they try to investigate the site and it's a trap, the Yeerks could find out who they are. If they don't check it out, they'll never know if they're the only ones fighting.

Then a gorgeous illusionist comes into the picture, and he sends me on a job with a major paycheck. Now I’m knee-deep in a murder case where the victims and the perps could all kill me with a snap of their fingers. Throw in a creepy castle, a stinky moat, and a legendary monster, and we’ve got ourselves a party, especially when the bodies begin to pile up.

Publisher's Summary
Almost nothing could be as bad as finding out your mother is Visser One, the most powerful leader of the Yeerk invasion of Earth. But it happened to Marco. And even though he's been handling it pretty well, he knew there'd come a time when he'd have to face her again, knowing that the Yeerk in her brain has taken his mother away.
So when Marco and the other Animorphs discover that Visser One is overseeing a secret underwater project, they know they have to check it out. But Marco's not sure if this is a battle he'll be able to fight.

Love it!
I love Marco so much as a character - he's probably my favorite Animorph! - and I love how Ramón de Ocampo does his voice. He constantly sounds half incredulous about everything that is happening in the story, which is just perfect for Marco.

Excellent story, excellent narration!
Marco gets a lot of the best stories, due in no small part to the earliest revelation of his direct connection to the Yeerk war...
This one is a fantastic addition to the series for so many reasons. Awesome plot, great character development, great story arc (concluded in #18). This is definitely a great one in the teens which have some weak entries but are overall pretty strong.
