Excellent

Excellent sequel. Well written. I love the characters & plot development. I really like how her characters are judged to be one way by public persona but in reality they are very different.

Chima Knows and Monda Shows!

Once again Cinda sends you on a trip with such vivid picture. Carol has piloted this flight with such ease that one feels part of the story!

A bit slow and not consistent

The story is just too slow for me. Both book 1 and 2 took to long to get to anything worthwhile and by the time we did, the story was over. Also, the MC was supposed to be the special heir to the demon king, but he just seems like anyv other wizard. I thought he had more magic than anyone else?

Extraordinary!

This is one of those books where you feel very strongly that the author has a whole story intricately woven in their heads and they are feeding the readers a scrap at a time. Even though we want it all at once to gorge on, we take the bits and are hungry for more.

This story has characters with a strong foundation, a good setting, and a deep seated history that propels forward the current events.

The main protagonists are likeable and sympathetic. You really feel like they are friends and understandable. The villains are appropriately loathsome and threatening. It has been a joy watching characters grow.

The whole thing is turned into a remarkable experience listening to the audio book. The narrator is truly marvelous at each individual character, accents and patterns of speech. She is consistent with pronunciation, and has wide range and a smooth voice. I'm SO glad she narrates the whole series.

I enjoy the story but the narrating...

This is one of my favorite series, and at least my 6th time reading it. The narrating, especially the sound editing, drove me nuts though. I could swear that each chapter was done in one take and with no cuts. You constantly hear the narrator inhaling which sucks you right out of the story (pun intended). Production value is seriously lacking. I don’t appreciate the accents, but I suppose artistic choice exists. Overall a better performance from the narrator than she did on the first book though. A much worse performance from the editor & director though.
