Story
After finding my soon-to-be ex-husband together with my soon-to-be ex-assistant, I realize his "for better or for worse" didn't include my 40s. An extended vacation on a remote Italian island sounds like the perfect antidote to a midlife crisis - until I arrive. I'm expecting Chianti and pasta. What I get is a run-down bed-and-breakfast with the oldest Nonna in existence. There's something about this island. Something odd. Like how everyone keeps calling me Mamma or how I'm the first tourist in decades.

I knew hot flashes were supposed to be hot, but I didn't expect flames. One day I'm in anger management, normalizing the cordial hate between me and my husband. The next, we're divorced, and he has taken both our house and the business we built together. I'm 40 years old and living above our empty restaurant, plotting my next move. And then the world around starts lighting up - literally catching on fire. I'm starting to think my defining characteristic may not be my snark or my cupcake-baking prowess, but spontaneous combustion.

"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Welcome to Haven Hollow, a town of monsters. After dating a string of losers and banishing a poltergeist, I packed up my Los Angeles life and my 11-year-old son, and moved...to a town in Oregon with a population of 680. Well, 682 now. Culture shock anyone? Ahem, never mind that.... New starts can happen anywhere, right? I hope so, because I need to start the next chapter of my 43-year life pronto. So, why Haven Hollow? For one reason - there aren’t any witches here. And a witch can make a gypsy’s life...complicated. Oh, right, I’ve put the cart before the horse.

Rumor has it that midlife is for drinking wine, traveling, and discovering the joy of life. But there's no rest for the wicked. Or for a Fae-witch hybrid like myself. Danger follows me everywhere - even to the grocery store - as the evil entity continues to stalk supernaturals in Cottlehill Wilds. But I barely have time to worry about that now that the Fae Queen is dead. My bad. No, seriously. I let my power loose and it took over.

Story
The day after my 43rd birthday, my husband announced he was trading me in - his words, not mine. The news was unwelcome at the time, but honestly? I needed a good goosing to get up and find my way to the door. So I was freed from the giant manual of expectations authored by my ex. That was the good news. The flip side was less happy. Due to living in a state not friendly to discarded wives, I was also relieved of the financial "security" I'd spent a lifetime accruing.

Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove. Okay, yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Publisher's Summary
She made a bargain with a fae prince...but how high is the price?
Joey Whitmore has learned her lesson when it comes to magic - it just isn’t worth the toll. Her plan is to keep her nose clean and enjoy midlife to the fullest. Margarita Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, the works. But when the fae prince appears to call in his favor, Joey has no choice but to live up to the bargain she made and leave Wine Wednesday in her wake.
The ruse is simple. Play Robin’s mortal fiancé in exchange for wiping the slate clean. But the more she learns about the tricksy fae bachelor, the more Joey becomes convinced that the fae prince is hiding something…something that only magic can illuminate. Does Joey have what it takes to untangle herself from the fae, or will she lose herself to them forever?

Magical Moments
This second book in the series is just as magical as the first book. One of my favorite tropes has always been a story where the main characters are engaged in a fake relationship and it works so well in this tale. I also like that the characters are evolving and growing as the series progresses. I recommend Jennifer L Hart's newest series to anyone who enjoys well crafted and fun reads. Jacqueline Rendell's narration is great adding to the enjoyment of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Magic and laughter, what more can you want?
Thoroughly enjoyed this duology. Lots of action, mystery and laughter. It has a well-planned plot and character growth as well as well-written dialog and pace. The narrator does a great job defining characters with voice modulation, accents, etc., so you always know who's talking. This series will definitely go into the "worth listening to again" category.

Adored it
I absolutely adore this authors writing style no matter the genre so far I I’m just smitten with her work! This midlife paranormal series is no different. Joey is a jaded midlifer who wanted to go back and change her accident that ended her career. She made a deal with the Fea Prince Robyn in book one. This is book two and she’s awaiting for him to arrive to finish the deal. What she isn’t prepared for is the major surprises headed her way and all the family drama that goes with it. And like most people everyone has an opinion to share with her. She struggles to believe in her self and not let others color her choices for her. This book has the ever present fight between good and evil but also includes person growth, closure and love but not in a sugary sweet way. I love seeing Joey find her back bone and finally following her own path. Gramma Bs notable quotables are hilarious and you might even start to feel for Robyn. Loved the progression and heart this story has! Such a wonderful job!
The narrator does phenomenal too! Seriously just made this stellar book even better!

Conversation is good
Joey tended to aggravate me because it seemed like a lot of her problems was caused when she just simply refused to have an honest conversation. But isn’t that always the case? If looking for a good story based on relationships more than adventure & action this is the book for you. Woman power rocks.

Excellent, Fantastic ,Fun, Sweet, Loving...
Wishing is somewhat dangerous some times. Important to know what you are wishing for, just in case it comes to be!
Normally I would have liked to have move time with Joey and Robin. I'm sorry to let go here. But,the company is ready to leave, and say farewell.I will let them go, and find the fun and fantasy in another kingdom of Fae, hopefully as wonderful as this series has been.
Thank you for the time spent with you, Jennifer Hart, Jacqueline Rendell.
Thanks Kaye

Good Story and Narrator!
I enjoyed the story but feel Joey is too harsh most of the time. Once you keep listening you start to understand why and realize the author could have put more details about her love interest. I still enjoyed the story and recommend reading it. I really loved the narrator she made the story fun to listen too and I am very picky about narrator's. I will be finding more books she narrates.

Better than the first one & a fabulous wrap up!
This one picks up 1 month after Over Fae Hill, and doesn't disappoint! Joey's stiil a bit of a Stephanie Plumb, but has learned her lesson, and is a much better character in book 2! The characters developed further and I loved the direction they went. The world is the same, and Grammy Bee's words of wisdom had me snorting with laughter at the begining of each chapter! Fae magic, some snark, a little mystery, more steam, and lots of fun as Joey meets his family! Well done, did not disappoint!

A Very Happy Audible Listener
I am delighted to of discovered Jennifer L Hart, she has become my newest go to author, and I am really enjoying her books.
This is the second book in a 2 book series, and I loved it, not only is the main character a middle aged woman which us slightly more mature ladies can relate to, there is also a gorgeous Fae Prince called Robin, and believe me ladies we could all do with a Robin, in our lives.
The narration was superb and the story fast paced, I was hooked and not once did I find my mind wandering off. When I had finished the story I was pleased with the ending, the only sadness I felt was that it is only a 2 book series.
If you enjoy Paranormal Women's Fiction, then I would be sure to give this series a go and if you have never listened to this genre, then why not loose yourself in some fantasy, believe me I think it is well worth the Audible Credit.
A massive thank you to Jennifer L Hart for giving me the opportunity to listen to and review another great book.

great characters and an exciting story
The first book has already impressed me, Jennifer L. Hart knows how to create characters and give their story depth - without losing the lightness or the humour of the story. I was looking forward to the next book.
The story skilfully builds on the first book and any gaps in knowledge are filled in on the way.
The characters got under my skin again. Although the faeprince Robin is an eye-catcher, Joey is reserved towards him. This book is not about a few hot sex scenes but about trust - in every way. Robin and Joey have to find trust in each other. The author captures the insecurities of both and their inner struggle. The entire plot is written from Joey's perspective, but Robin's side is easy to grasp. While listening to the story I discovered more behind the charming prince and how his feelings changed him. The tension and attraction between these two is perfect.
But Joey and Robin must not only face themselves and their emotions, they have to handle a threat as well. The plot surprised me and it remained exciting until the end.
The narrator Jacqueline Rendell is consistently convincing. She knows how to portray the characters, especially Robin.
Jennifer L. Hart's series is one of my highlights in this genre and I'm looking forward to read more of her books.
