Publisher's Summary

I wanted to jump. He made me fall. As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I'd lost myself in the spotlight. Until he found me. Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation. But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together - and then tore us apart. Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down? Or maybe there's only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom - up.

A couple to root for

I loved these two! This was a lovely story about finding a loving and supporting partner. It was an honest description of mental illness, depression and anxiety. Any drama felt real and earned.
Wonderful narration! This one is the total package.

Breathtakingly beautiful 5⭐⭐⭐⭐ romance

After listening to The Spiral Down I just had to know more about Sam and Levee. Glad I did. The path they took that lead to healing was exceptional. Their journey to love, though it wasn't easy, was truly a delight to see. There was a lot of heavy stuff dealt with, but it didn't take away the humor, laughter, and romance. Sam has such a beautiful soul, you can't help but love him. Levee seems to have the perfect life but that is not the case. They both have some serious issues dealing with and was instrumental in helping each other. The secondary characters were great support as well. Henry especially is the perfect bestfriend. Aiden Snow and Lucy Rivers was perfect portraying the different characters. Both narrations was wonderful. The Fall Up left me with such a wonderful feeling inside, I highly recommend this book.

The Fall Up

Levee is a world famous pop singer. She visits children's hospitals to give the kids hope. Sadly underneath she's losing hope and winds up at a bridge. A gorgeous hunk talks her down and tells her his name is Sam. Sam wants to know this woman whose always wearing a wig and sunglasses. He wants to try to save her like he couldn't with his sister. They keep meeting at the bridge and finally Levee shows Sam who she really is. He doesn't care how famous she is. He just wants her. Can Levee fix herself and be the woman Sam wants? Great read.

Loved the story, but the narration fell short

When it comes to an Aly Martinez-penned story, you know you're going to get some lovely bit of angst, which is why she's as popular as she is and happens to be one of my go-to authors. I'd originally read The Fall Up back in May of 2016, and it, along with its companion novel, The Spiral Down, are two of my top favorites from Martinez. I'd been eager to listen to the audiobook for quite some time, and admittedly, my expectations were rather high. Both Lucy Rivers and Aiden Snow were new-to-me narrators, but I'd heard good things about their previous performances, so I leaned back and started listening eagerly. Unfortunately, as good as the story was, the narration fell WAY short. Rivers sounded stilted and stiff and while Snow was far better, his performance wasn't enough to save that aspect of the audiobook. Martinez's story about a famous pop star at the end of her rope and the chain-smoking stranger who changes her life--aka Levee Williams and Samuel Rivers--is heartrending but hopeful, and their journey to their happily-ever-after may not have been easy but it was so darn rewarding. The narration took away from the story, but the latter still gets five stars while the former gets three stars, leading to an average rating of four stars out of five stars for The Fall Up. This is one of those times I advise you to just read the book. ♥

Decent

The narrators in this did the best they could with what they were given. When I got this book, I was in the mood for a heart stopping love story. What I received, was a graphic sexual book with a mediocre plot thrown in. It’s not my type of book, but the writing was okay and the ending was nice.

4 1/2 "Wonderful" Stars!

I give this story 4 1/2 stars. Aly Martinez knows how to write an emotional tale. Sam and Levee had some tough issues to face. There's some laugh out loud moments. Overall it's a wonderful story and Narrators did a great job.

a non stop listen!!!

This book was so much more than I thought it would be. The story kept me engaged so much so that I didn't skip to the end to see where the story was going which I tend to do when I find myself drifting from a story line. It had the perfect amount of backstory, character developmen. funny moments, and sexy romance. The narrators we good and had lots of inflection in their voices. Definately worth a credit. I can't wait to move on to Henry's story!

The female narrator ruins it

The female narrator sounds as if she’s a news anchor with breaking news. Boy it makes it so hard to enjoy the story when she enunciates like that. It’s very distracting!
The story is good and the male narrator is good. I wish she didn’t ruin it like that.

another real for Ely martinez

it was a wrenching topic but the life of the heroine was skimmed. we didn't get to see the heart of what the hero would truly experience in her world. so I would describe it as a light plot read with a serious theme.
loved Aiden snow his inflections were fantastic but Lucy...sorry to say she was awful with the male voice and her deep tone dragged which I couldn't imagine the heroine having.
