Critic Reviews
"What a fantastic ending. What a tremendous achievement. A gorgeous, borderline flawless trilogy." (Seanan McGuire)
"Told in an enchanting, confessional first-person, we're with koli all the way." (Daily Mail)
"Marvellously expansive and claustrophobically menacing." (Publishers Weekly)

Excellent
Contrary to some of the other reviews, I did not find this last book in the trilogy to be any less than the other two books. I did like the first book best but all three books has been excellent!

Great book
I was a bit thrown by the 3 narrators in this one at first, especially as I had gotten so used to Theo and Koli’sway of talking. However I loved the story and was sad to finish the trilogy. A very good set of books well done M. R. Carey 👏🏽

brilliant series
I've enjoyed every one of this trilogy and this one had a really satisfying ending to the whole story. what a brilliant story Mike Carey has crafted, full characters, a new future, and I especially liked the localised setting. Great stuff.

An excellent trilogy
Compelling story, amazing narration. I can hear all of the characters so clearly, it took me a minute to remember that some of the key players (Cup and Ursula for example) don't have their own unique voices. I will miss the Rampart world now that the trilogy is finished

Brilliant
Really loved all three books. Such good stories, great narration from all three narrators. Some books I wish would never end, this trilogy is one of them.

I love my dopey boy ❤️
Just finished the last of 3 books , I’m so gutted to have come to the end! Absolutely loved the story from all 3 books. The imagination of this writer has amazed me, the twists and turns and detail of the story was amazing. You just can’t help but fall in love with the characters.
Would highly recommend these books - prepare to become absorbed in Koli’s world ❤️❤️

The best thing to come out of lockdown
I'm so annoyed that I've finished the trilogy - I want to keep listening/reading it. As with the "girl with all the gifts" books, a properly rounded story with a great ending. Lots of details in there, speech patterns, old vs new words etc that all help to make the story feel real. The author wrote it in lockdown - I can't think of anything better that came out of lockdown.

What an immersive and brilliant story. I have loved following Koli and Monono and diving deep into their world. Thankyou M R Carey for excellent storytelling.

Excellent, but!
As with the other two books in the series this one was also excellent, However, the last 1/4 of the book tended to jump between characters far too often for my liking.

a dystopian masterpiece
A classic hero's journey that's rich with a cast of remarkably diverse and interesting characters in a terrifying, but not all together impossible to imagine, dystopian future. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books. And the narration just enhanced the overall experience.
