Publisher's Summary

Most days, I steal from ships to earn a living. Not glamorous, admittedly, but it's honest work. Okay, fine. It isn't honest either, but it means I get to eat.

Until one night, a sinfully sexy angel strides into my favorite dance hall and compels me to work for him. It isn't just work, though. He wants me to be his wife in Castle Hades. Apparently, his prophetic dreams say I'll help him become king.

Beautiful as he is, he's also a lethal tyrant. And I could be in danger. Luckily, I know how to fight back, how to weaken an angel: I must seduce him.

Now, this is a battle, and he’s my beautiful enemy. We are fighting with weapons of desire, and we're both at risk of losing ourselves in this war.

Pretty good but…

The premise for the story was pretty awesome. However, it was categorized as a romance and it absolutely is NOT. There’s no HEA or HFN and while it does not end on a total cliffhanger, nothing has been resolved between the hero and heroine. In fact, it feels like everything is just ramping up. Overall it was pretty good and the narration was excellent.

I love it!

I haven't listened to the whole book but hearing it read with an accent makes this book all the more appealing.
I love The Fallen so much. Lila is so interesting and mysterious and bada$$. Samael is a little terrifying but it's makes this story all the better!
I read this book in one night and I was so intrigued that after a little sleep I started right back at the beginning and read it again. I'm so happy to have it on audible, it's one of my favorites!

I Have Fallen

In the beginning of this story, I thought to myself, Im so not going to enjoy this. 🙃 But after forcing myself to get through the first couple of chapters, I'd realized I was pulled into it and hooked. So much so that I finished the book in one setting.

I have fallen heart first, body and soul next, in love with Samuel. I love his gentleman antics while being the hard exterior perception of death.

This story is a slow burn🔥but well worth the time to read it. I hate the cliffhangers of books, but that is what keeps us coming back for more.

Meh

I typically love this author, but I had a really hard time getting into this book. The characters just weren't likeable to me and made it difficult to get into the story. I found the narrator's voice a bit too brash and I think that added to this. I gave up on it with about an hour left.

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

I love a good Hades & Persephone retelling & this book is no different. CN Crawford always does such an amazing job of weaving a whole new world with elements that we might recognize. In this world that seems emulate aspects of Victorian England, we find Lila, a thief who is just trying to get by. Samael, the Count in charge of Dovren, is searching for something dangerous, instead he finds Lila. These two are on differing sides of this world, one is the "evil" invading forces, and the other is on the side of patriotism. Unfortunately there is so much more going on in this world that neither are fully aware of.

I love both of these characters so much. Lila is so stubborn & strong. Samael really needs someone to pull him out of his hazy existence & help him to live. The world building in this book is so well done. I always love the places that CN Crawford takes us to & this one is just as amazing.

Now on to book 2 because I need to know where this story goes next.

Great series!

This is my first book from CN Crawford. And I have to say I was not disappointed. There is so much action and steam...but also a slow burn. I am so excited to see what book 2 will bring! Lila is a mess and some of her thoughts and actions had me laughing out loud!!

who picks these voice actors?

dnf. I got to chapter 13 and had to quit. if you're voicing the first person perspective of a 25 year old woman, why choose a voice actor so much older? the man's voice sounded like a grandpa and the woman sounded like a mom who's kids were in high-school. frustrating because I probably would have enjoyed the book had it been cast differently.

Overall 5 ⭐️

I wish it was a bit longer to give more time for character development. We spend so much time on an Adventure but I don’t feel like I got to know the Angels well enough nor our main girl and what she really is.

I’m so happy book 2 & 3 are already available so I can hopefully see more developments unfold!

Really like this book, give it time. It starts off slow at first then really picks up.

Narrator not for me =(

I absolutely LOVE this author but I just can't get into the narrator I'm afraid =(.
For one, she sounds very like Daphne from Frasier and it's very distracting haha. But, it's just not for me.
I can't focus on the story. And don't fancy listening to Daphne get spicy haha.
The male narrator was fine.
It's a me problem really, but if you don't want to listen to a book read in that sort of accent I'd maybe buy the kindle version, which is exactly what I will do because I'm sure the story is as good as the authors other books!
Sorry!
