Publisher's Summary

R.A. Salvatore's The Cleric Quintet tells the tale of the scholar-priest Cadderly, who is plucked from the halls of the Edificant Library to fulfill a heroic quest across the land of Faern.

Cadderly leads the combined forces of Carradoon and Shilmista against Castle Trinity, stronghold of his enemy Aballister. But another mission calls him on a journey leading into a past he hoped he would be able to forget.

Lazy Writing. Incredulous.

Too many times I found myself asking myself “why in god’s name am I still listening to this nonsense?” This R. A. book in particular is silly, like it was written for a pre-teen audience. Pickle’s ooohs and aaahs and other sounds are overused. The “young priest” is super annoying, and despite his lack of experience [somehow] he’s the most powerful wizard in the world. There’s lots of action and many “poor ogres” and “poor goblins” get their faces split in half, which is great, but S. A. can’t write a good action scene, so it’s more of the same after more of the same. Basically, lazy writing.

Salvatore doing what he does best!

Awesome! there needs to be an award for making secondary characters that(almost) outshine the protagonist! Excellent story crafting and character development(what else would you expect from Bob? ) not to mention another stellar performance from Mr. Bevine! I was looking forward to and loved hearing all the ooo 's and oo oi's coming from one of my favourite characters in the companions, Pikel! looking forward to finishing this saga and getting to experience all over again his demon wars series!

needs audio balancing

great story, great performance. audio needs rebalancing badly. too quiet to hear at times, and far too loud at others. not an issue with the reader, who did a great job.

a fitting end to the war

we get to see more of divine vs arcane magic here, going beyond (not too far) the DnD ruleset and into some of the implications for both types of magic upon the forgotten realms. a balanced plot and characterisation again from the master of dungeons and dragons fiction
