Publisher's Summary

From the stranger in the car, to the madman at her door....

Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

The day my path crossed with Simon Fox I thought I’d already lost everything, but then he almost ran me off the road with his flash car and belittling jibes.

The men in my life had undermined me for too long.

Enough was enough.

Fuelled by alcohol and the desire to get even, I decided a spot of petty vandalism would make me feel a whole lot better.

Wrong. Very wrong....

I hadn’t realised that Simon Fox was not a man to be messed with.

He showed me just how much I still had left to lose.

Soon I was battling for my home, family and life.

Lovely Story!

Okay, so this was not at all what I was expecting, but in the very best way. I won't say more because I don't want to give away anything, but this one is WELL worth the credit. One of my favorite narrators, too.

Excellent Story!

What a great story this was. So different than the many others I’ve been reading lately. It was like enjoying a turkey dinner rather than expecting a sandwich for lunch. Will be looking for this writer for more great stuff!!

When a fight gets out of hand

"I was sick and tired of being pushed around by the opposite sex, overlooked, dismissed, and taken advantage of."

This is the story of Kay and what happens when she has finally had enough.

Everything about the day is going wrong. To start she's been taunted by her pompous soon to be ex-husband who recently left her for another woman, at work she is overlooked for a promotion she was guaranteed to a young up and comer who just happens to be a man half her age and with half her experience, and thinking things couldn't get any worse she is practically run off the road by some jerk in his flashy car. Having finally had enough she follows the jerk to his house where she gives him a good telling off. He, of course, dismisses her as a crazy person which only stokes the fire of her rage further.

A minor detail she may have wanted to consider is that he lives just up the street from her so they will likely cross paths again.

Instead, Kay returns home and decides a bottle or two of wine is what she needs to shed the stress of her day. One glass, two glasses, three glasses, four - when a thought pops into her head. Who did that jerk think he was talking to her like that anyways? It's time to teach him a lesson with a little petty vandalism.

Problem is she has no idea who she is up against and this guy isn't going to let her off the hook that easily. Did Kay just invite a psychopath into the lives of her and her children?

While this isn't the most original story it was a proper page-turner. It's a popcorn popper where you just have to know what's going to happen next and how low these people are willing to go. I liked Kay a lot. She's a great mom to her 16 year old twins, a good friend, and an excellent employee. This is a story of when someone who has always played by the rules, snaps in moment of weakness, and the repercussions that are felt from it. I felt the ending was perfectly befitting to the story. I will gladly check out more books by Gemma Roger! 4 stars!

Imogen Church is one of my favourite narrators but she just missed the mark with this book. The delivery of the story was over top the top

Narration so annoying

Why do the males in this book have to sound like they are idiots. No one talks like that. And all of them had the most irritating voices. It was hard to enjoy this book because of the voices. It is ridiculous.

Yes!

EXCELLENT narration. Twisty storyline with believable, well-developed characters. (So tired of stupidity in psych thrillers, much more fun to imagine smart people being duped!) This one is credit worthy!

Good one.

Very enjoyable listen. I have been waiting to try a Gemma Rogers book and was not disappointed. There were enough twists and turns to keep me very interested all the way to the end. Good narrator too.

Imogen Church just awful!

had to turn it off as the first chapter started. Imogens tone, tempo and the way she tries to build suspense in places that it is really unnecessary just drives me nuts!
my own fault for purchasing before I read who the narrator was I suppose, but it's hugely upsetting as I love Gemma Rogers' books

couldn't stand the narrator

I gave up after less than an hour of listening. I usually love her books but the narration was so bad I couldn't listen anymore.

Ludicrous story, enjoyed!

This story was rediculous, but I enjoyed it. Suspend reality for a bit (I mean, how could someone as evil as Simon escape retribution for half his life...?) and enjoy a tale of a cornered woman and a thoroughly vile man. Go girl, Kay owned him from start to finish!

The narration though, oh man that was not good. Everyone bar Kay sounded a bit, how to say politely, odd. I would avoid this narrator in future, it wasn't good for me.

Great story, OTT narration.

Really liked the storyline of The Feud. Unfortunately the over the top accents from the narrator really grated on me (particularly the accents she used for the male characters). She would make a good comedy actor maybe but I wouldn’t have cast her to narrate a thriller.

Unlistenable. Worst narration ever.

Got to Chapter 2 but it was just too annoying to continue.
Very disappointing as the story sounded good.

Only found Gemma Rogers books two weeks ago. Have listened to all the books she has in audible already. Great stories and characters, wonderful narration. I just wish there were more.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I’ve listened to a couple of Gemma Rogers’ books and love the convoluted paths this story took. I admit at first my thoughts were kind of ‘this is going to be predictable’, and in some ways it was. But the way Gemma wrote it did have me second guessing myself. I think i related to it too, having experienced some of what was written myself I was rooting for the main character to develop a back bone….and she did! There were times when I thought the main character was really whiny and lacking but as the story developed I couldn’t be more wrong. I would recommend this book.

Keeps you guessing until the end!

Gemma Rogers has done it again with another gritty and twisty dark atmospheric story.
She shows how a spare of the moment decision can change the course of your life..and not in a good way!
Just as you think you know where the story is going there’s another red herring to throw you off.
I think her books would make an excellent television series! Take note BBC Drama and Netflix!!
If you’re looking for a book you can’t put down, you’ve chosen the right one!

Top Tip Listen at 1.2 x speed

The only way to listen to it and narration not drive you mad, knocks 2 hours off the book length!!
