What we send out into the universe comes back to us magnified. Although the power of intention - the energy of positive thoughts - is widely accepted as an influential force in transforming lives, the exponential power of group intention has never been explored - until now. In The Power of Eight, Lynne McTaggart, an expert on the science of spirituality, reveals her remarkable findings from 10 years of experiments about how group intention can heal our lives - and change the world for the better.

Nearly everyone is familiar with holograms - three-dimensional images projected into space with the aid of a laser. Two of the world's most eminent thinkers believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. University of London physicist David Bohm, one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, an architect of our modern understanding of the brain, have developed a remarkable new way of looking at the universe.

Is intention simply wishful thinking, or is it a force that can actually change the world around you? Nobody has made a more comprehensive investigation of the power of the mind to influence the universe than Lynne McTaggart. Her conclusion: Thought does shape reality, but much depends on how skillfully the thinker can use his or her intention. With Living with Intention, this groundbreaking author builds upon her findings from The Field to explore what makes mind-over-matter work, what can interfere with its effectiveness, and how you can use focused thought to enhance your life, help those around you, and transform your world.

Mystics and sages have long maintained that there exists an interconnecting cosmic field at the roots of reality that conserves and conveys information, a field known as the Akashic record. Recent discoveries in vacuum physics show that this Akashic field is real and has its equivalent in science's zero-point field that underlies space itself. This field consists of a subtle sea of fluctuating energies from which all things arise: atoms and galaxies, stars and planets, living beings, and even consciousness.

Story
Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world's most innovative scientists, here shows the ways in which science is being constricted by assumptions that have, over the years, hardened into dogmas. Such dogmas are not only limiting, but dangerous for the future of humanity. According to these principles, all of reality is material or physical; the world is a machine, made up of inanimate matter; nature is purposeless; consciousness is nothing but the physical activity of the brain; free will is an illusion; and God exists only as an idea in human minds.

Is everything connected? Can we sense what's happening to loved ones thousands of miles away? Why are we sometimes certain of a caller's identity the instant the phone rings? Do intuitive hunches contain information about future events? Is it possible to perceive without the use of the ordinary senses? Many people believe that such "psychic phenomena" are rare talents or divine gifts. Others don't believe they exist at all. But the latest scientific research shows that these phenomena are both real and widespread.

Easy Listen
I've studied the concepts of the Field now for years, and find that Lynn has come the closest to weaving together all these difficult scientific quantum theories into a coherent whole field of knowledge. It spawned her Intention experiment, and is based on solid science. It takes mystical works from the past and cast them in a new light, making these concepts easy to digest. I'll listen to it more than once because it is useful information for daily life.

Confirmed Skeptic - changed my mind!
If you are a confirmed skeptic of metaphysics this is the book for you!
I’ve read “the Secret” and other accounts of the pure powers of human intention and universal conscious with curiosity. I think we all long to understand more about our place in the universe and our influence, and there are no shortage authors that will sell books about this with no proof.
This book is different, author does detail metaphysical phenomenon beyond the bounds of current science, each topic the author carefully documents with academic sources and verifiable research scientific data.
I highly recommend this book its short and it may give the skeptic in you the evidence you need to open your mind to the wonders of the things we don’t know about the universe and our influence over it.

Interesting discussion, not the actual book.
My wife read the book "The Field" and told me I would enjoy it. I downloaded this recording thinking it was the actual book on tape. Instead, it's Lynne McTaggart giving a 2 hour summary of what's in the book. (I see now that it's categorized as a speech, not an audiobook.)
The recording doesn't sound like she's reading at all, but instead sounds like she is actually talking to you (which is what I love about Tony Robbins tapes). This is a very interesting and informative recording, and as far as I can tell, you get all of the highlight of the book condensed down to two hours.
As for content, McTaggart describes the work of scientists all over the world who have conducted controlled experiments on the ability of your thoughts to influence matter, including machines and diseases. It's almost as if they are discovering the science behind successful prayer or why goals (intention) matter. The studies of spiritual healing done by people who never even meet the sick person, plus the experiments with water memory, are fascinating.

Awesome book, an excellent summary
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not much new thought here if you are interested in the conscious field and the latest research that is pointing to so many aspects of this field from which everything emerges. I loved the supporting studies well referenced and how it is put together in one cohesive picture showing what the latest science is pointing to. The story of unity oneness, intention thoughts and love where science is finally supporting what mystics and shaman have been pointing to all along.
I love the new picture that is emerging and this book for me solidifies the information in a way that is accessible to newbies and valuable to those who have been rolling in this particular mud bath for a long time.

This is a highly abridged version of the full book - I have both and wanted to listen to the book on the go so bought the narrated book in addition to the physical one. An interesting read into the relationship between new and old science. The book looks at how long held scientific ideas have come to perhaps hold back new emerging ideas into quantum physics. Lyn Mctaggart takes a journey with the reader and explores the quantum field.

Brilliant!
I loved how Lynne had broken some very complex quantum physics principles down into very easily understood concepts, and then being able to link it all together in a way that makes it very easy to see the complete picture for what it all means.
One of the limitations our need as a collective for “scientific” based evidence on how everything works is that there’s a tendency to divide things out, and study them at increasingly smaller and smaller levels, and define them as separate particles or concepts or entities. This creates a situation where science cannot explain everything, but because of the small pieces of the puzzle that it HAS explained, we lose sight of how everything is connected and affects everything else. Just because science can’t yet explain it, doesn’t mean it isn’t real, and this book is an eye opening delve into exactly how everything truly IS connected, and how things like energy healing, telepathic powers, and all the “woo woo” stuff (that humans who don’t understand it have crucified other humans who DO “get it” for over the years) actually works.
Thanks for a great listen!

Very thought provoking
Very interesting. I love authors and books like these that make you rethink all your previous beliefs and want to find out more.
An over all great summary of new discoveries that have not yet been acknowledged by science or the medical field and other concepts and theories that sound very exciting but require further research and development. I now want to know more. I was disappointed when the book finished so can’t wait to download Lynne’s other books.
Enjoy

The Field
Love the genre and as Lyn said, she isn't a scientist but her delivery was full of odd pauses and there was no real production. So it wasn't a podcast or a book, more a fireside chat.
Great premise

poor performance but you need to hear it
If you can get through the bad performance, this is something you definitely need to hear.
