Enjoyed the storyline. Absolutely hooked.

The story was well played out. You could feel the emotions of each of the characters through the words of Chaney and Lerma. Khistine Hvam also did a wonderful job narrating. Can't wait for another installment from this group.

Keep them coming!

I've gotten lost in every book I've listened to from J.N. Chaney. I just started this book and I already can't put it down. Another great start to a new series.

Fun story and good addition to Renegade universe

Chaney and Lerma make a good team.

Nice to see a strong female protagonist. She is tough but also has some weakness, which is nice. Interested characters. Well described fight scenes. Fun details throughout the story.

Another home run

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised! Lerma and Chaney really know how to deliver an engaging story. This is a great military space opera with a hero you wouldn't expect. Very cool plot with intriguing characters to keep you reading. I look forward to the next one!

Not so much bad . . . . 😱

But it is marginal and there is SO MUCH BETTER STIFF OUT THERE. . . . . . . . . . 😱
This is the worst story I have seen J. N. Chaney put his name on.

————————————————————————————————————————
5 stars is great (I rarely give this rating).
4 stars is good (given only to interesting and well-written books).
3 stars is OK (the usual listen I encounter on Audible).
2 stars is poor (and not worth the credit or the listen).
1 star is awful (and to be diss'ed and shunned and spread as thus through out the Audible Universe)!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 😱

Another Fun Ride from Chaney

Set in the same Universe as some of the other series, Renegades for example, so threads run throughout & conbect to familiar places. Has same peoples/government entities & talk of long lost earth artifacts and weapons etc. but a whole set of different characters.
I can easily see the characters atvleast crossing paths with one another & likely interacting down the road .
Looking forward to Book Two, which I'll be turning on in just a few minutes to listen to as i drift off to sleep tonight.
Narratoration was great. only problem? I had was whenever the ship referred to as the Dread Night was mentioned. I didn't know if thetre really was a ship with that name or whether the ship was being referred to bt it's type, a Dreadnought & was being mispronounced as Dreadnight? It kept jarring me out of the story. Don't get why someone would name a ship that when it's so close to a common carrier type used by military spacr navys. this IS a military sci fi, after all!
so it was a nuisance.
All & all that's pretty if that's the worst I can say about the book
story's not a Epic Dune Saga by any means, but it's an enjoyiable intrigue & action packed military multi planet sci fi with bad a$$ gals as well as guy's which is alway a plus, & there's even a self aware AI with an attitude. (OK, everybodies got one these days, but theirs is done fairly well so far. )

Give it go, it's great to listen to while relaxing off to sleep, upon awaking & going through your morning routine, cleaning the house, cooking, walking the dog, driving to work, lunch breaks, riding the bus or subway, waiting in line, grocery shopping, gardening, any kind of physical labor, in the shower, ... you get the idea!

I couldn’t

It may have been a good story, but I couldn’t get on with the narrator reading it like a presentation instead of an action novel, so I gave up. I’ve just finished Quantum Tangle and and its follow up, which was narrated brilliantly, so this just couldn’t compare, unfortunately.

Another Good Start

This story has a good chance of going far as long as it doesn't run out of momentum and get dragged out for the sake of it . The narrator was great I felt and have it a lovely tone and was very good with bringing out the characters and so I hope she is able to do the whole story.
