We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

An excellent continuation of a great series.
Where does The Flood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I've listened to a ton of audio books, but as far as the 12 Arisen books I've listened to so far, I'd rate this one in the top three (behind Exodus and Genesis). It's definitely one of the better books in the series.
What did you like best about this story?
This story has finally merged the Standalone arc with the main one. It's been a long time coming, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This one ranks towards the top. Just when I thought I had become familiar with the range of characters he can portray, he goes and throws a couple new ones, complete with their own inflection and accents, into the mix. He's an excellent reader.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were a few giggles here and there, but nothing extreme.
Any additional comments?
This book is nearly end-to-end action, which is in no small part to the previous book being a bit on the stagnant side. What I mean by that was that it served as one giant setup to this one. I'm a huge fan of this series, but it really feels like many of these books can be paired directly to another and combined into one cohesive narrative. This aspect of the series has always felt like a money grab to me. With that aside, I still maintain this is an excellent series, and well worth the read/listen if you're looking for a decent Zombie Apocalypse story with a focus on action. This is seriously good stuff.

one of the best in the series
I was getting kind if tired with how drawn out the series is. This book had some real substance. reiterating some of the same points is still an issue, but i feel like this book moved the plot along more than the previous several books.
I am eager to get to the end, and will keep buying these books like crack. as soon as each is available.

Getting tedious.
I am a pretty hardcore sci-fi consumer. I cut my teeth on Tom Corbett books as a kid. While waiting on the next book in a series I really enjoy, and being a huge fan of R C Bray, I started this series. It was my first foray into the zombie genre and was drawn in pretty quickly. Now on book 10 I am deeply disappointed.
This author is exhibiting the same annoying tendencies that got me to swear off of sci-fantasy. In these big rambling journeys I think that authors, after an initial few successes start writing shorter books, mostly fluff and meaningless back story on major characters get money hungry. This book did virtually nothing to further the plot. It was mostly a string of totally unbelievable battles and a couple of meaningless sub-plots that basically fill pages.
Yes, I will use a credit next month for book 11 hoping the author just needed to pay his mortgage, but the last 3 books have been leading to this low point getting more full of simple filler material. If you have listened up through book 9 and are hoping for something more pass this one up and invest in another series. This one has mostly petered out for me.

Love these books they hit my zombie spec ops craving right on the head.
But seriously well done great book just love the homework done in all the books when it comes to the military side, the small details count for me and I'm sure many others. Gotta make a Rv series outta these books. Anime would be a great way to show off the gore.
Again well done and can't wait for the rest 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It's been too long already....
Unfortunately, the authors must be giving up their creative credibility to drag every last cent out of this series. Bring it to a close!!!! You will be showing respect to those that have already overspent on this series that if delivered in half the volumes would have been twice as good. The formulaic writing is tiresome and the realism is being stretched too far....just how many times are we going to be told it's certain death...to find it wasn't!!!

A Deluge of Action
I wonder if this series is now settling into a pattern; one medium action scene setter followed by an absolute fire cracker of a follow-up to deliver on the promises made. This one is most definitely of the fire cracker variety and the action is unrelenting delivering in the Arisen style that we’ve come to love. Hopeless situations rescued either by extreme badassery or incredible adventure – in fact I think it’s worth warning people that this one possibly pushes the envelope even further. Fair enough, if you want just gritty realism zombie books probably aren’t your thing, just be prepared to dial down your logic chips at times in this one.
The narration? It’s the grand master Bray on his home turf and he owns that turf. You know what you’re going to get from him, he delivers every time in this series and this is no exception. The story focuses on the action in the away teams primarily and doesn’t have the rather choppy feel of the previous book which seemed to be pulling a few too many strings together at once.
So, my love affair with rotting corpses and the heroes that are defending the last vestiges of humanity from them continues and I’ll wait impatiently for the next one. You feel the series probably has to end some time but while Fuchs can deliver such compelling action and a little humour here and there including aping Jurrasic Park slightly I have to say I’m in no hurry for it to finish.

Another great book. But is the series dragging?
I love the book, the writing is still amazing and RC Brays performance is perfect yet again.
However, as much as I love the series I can't help but feel that we're no closer to wrapping up the story than we were 5 books ago. after 12 books (including prequels) you'd think we'd be getting closer to the end but the end feels no where in sight. I am truly invested in this series, one of my favourite book series I've ever followed, however I'm concerned about how much longer it will be until we start to see some closure. I don't know how long it will be until my enthusiasm wavers. hopefully not anytime soon.
regardless of this the book is again phenomenal

Story drags at times but still very entertaining
There were several occasions when a single scene, spanning a few minutes, took 3 chapters, owing to unnecessary detail or repeated expressions of what the character was thinking, which was a little annoying.
I noticed more and more movie references, particularly from Aliens, Predator and Terminator, great for 80s movie fans (like me).
The Russian scientist scenes are the funniest, taking irony to a new level. I would never have guessed it would be possible to like this character but I found myself rooting for him.
Wesley, Judy and Jamieson are firm favourites, Sarah not so much. Rebecca is underdeveloped but I'll see where Fuchs goes with her character.
Despite my criticism, this remains a very entertaining story, highly recommended to anyone who enjoys the zombie military subgenre and a must for anyone who's read the earlier books. I'm ordering the next immediately.

a bit repetitive
good story great narrator. but this book in the series in particular seems to repeat itself a lot and therefore gets a bit slow at times

One of my all time favourite series
Would you consider the audio edition of The Flood to be better than the print version?
Absolutely, I love this Narrator, he brings each character to life, makes the books even more exciting.
What did you like best about this story?
The multiple story lines mean there are so many characters all connected and tied in, there isn't a dull moment in any of the books
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Always a brilliant listen- when I see R.C Bray narrating, I know it will be enjoy it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
