Hunted by savage predators and more terrifying still, the nightmarish Eldrax, a murderous chieftain who will stop at nothing to possess Rebaa’s mysterious powers for his own, her very existence becomes a life-or-death chase in the pursuit and quest to reach the one place that surely offers salvation and a safe haven she can call home. But what haven could possibly exist for one who bears The Forbidden?

Will Rebaa find her salvation, or will crushing loss, hardship, and the burden of carrying The Forbidden first destroy her from the inside out?

Don't bother

This is a poor attempt at copying the "The Earths Children" by Jean Auel series. I am not sure I can even finish this book but wanted to write a review and perhaps save someone else from making the same mistake. It is slow, weak, and boring. Do yourself a favor and check out the books by Jean Auel instead. Need to add that this author compares the story line with Jean Auel’s books yet states she has not read them. ????

Not Compelled to Finish

Didn't finish. Too many negative emotions. Stressful and anxiety producing. Very few positive points

Excellent story telling

I read the Clan of the Cave Bears series years ago. Loved the uniqueness of this type of story. So far this author has nailed it.

Great!

This is a wonderful story! I enjoyed it so much. The narrator brought it to the plate. She did all of the characters with passion.

not written well

I'm struggling this book. I'm a fan of clan if the cave bear and this was listed as similar. its not even close. I haven't figured out if the characters are human, Neanderthal or fantasy creatures. I guess the book could be ok if the author explained what species the characters are and maybe the time period.

my review

Most of the story line seems to have been copied from other authors. ie Dune and Clan of the cave bear.

excess violence ruins decent storyline.

started out with a decent premise but I really didn't need the gorefest or slaughter of kids and teenagers and rape at which point I stopped listening. I prefer something a bit more cerebral but I'm sure this will appeal to a different demographic. I had high hopes for it but was disgusted at the totally unnecessary violence. A female narrator doing a poor job at a man's growling voice reminded me of jackanory....v. disappointed.
