Publisher's Summary

For Teagan Frost, s--t just got real.

Teagan Frost is having a hard time keeping it together. Sure, she's got telekinetic powers - a skill that the government is all too happy to make use of, sending her on secret break-in missions that no ordinary human could carry out. But all she really wants to do is kick back, have a beer, and pretend she's normal for once.

But then a body turns up at the site of her last job - murdered in a way that only someone like Teagan could have pulled off. She's got 24 hours to clear her name - and it's not just her life at stake. If she can't unravel the conspiracy in time, her hometown of Los Angeles will be in the crosshairs of an underground battle that's on the brink of exploding....

Juvenile

I didn’t get all the way through this one. The dialogue is very childishly written.

a great title lead to a great book

i saw the other book in series "random sh!t flying through the air" in human at a bookstore as an editors choice and thought, well, how can't i? not being a reader, i audibles it and discovered that everything i assumed i knew about the super persons genre was a sack of lies. part umbrella academy, part captain marvel, and part x-men in feel, this book tackles the trauma of being different and special in a way that highlights how having a special ability is hard to rectify not using--even when using it may hurt people -- and how thin that line is. the characters are memorably understated and diverse in age, race, ability and sex. charisma, technology, psychology, martial skills, charm etc. the twists are twisty and the past is painful and vocal yet the story has a light fun feel, i'd recommend it to anyone who likes a film like guardians of the galaxy or a show like mandalorian - explorers if a world with special people with deep trauma that needs them.

Keeps you hooked!

This book will keep you on your toes. At first, the characters seem flat, easily predictable. As the story progresses, their emotional depth catches you and wants you to get to know them. I would definitely recommend listening to the book a second time. The details you think are filler are so important.

The narration isn't my favorite. The main character doesn't portray the emotion the book deserves. Personal preferences I suppose.

Tons of potential but no execution

There was so much that could have been done here. it wasn't.

There is diversity galore in the characters, but none of them develop passed that. Another book where diversity seemed an important checkbox for the author, but added zero to the story.

The author is preachy through the protagonist, breaking the 4th wall to lecture us on social justice issues that he or she is not very familiar with based on the content.

The plot was lazy and you cannot have a twist if the reader sees it coming from 100 pages away. Too bad, because this book had the right foundation, it was just built out of stage props and sarcasm.

What a great book!

This is not your Grandfather’s type of superhero! Teagan Frost has some real grit in her. The reason this book is so awesome is the characters are flawed which makes them realistic! Through their flaws you grow to love and root for them. Listen we’ve all read your traditional superhero comics, graphic novels, etc. You know how they are going to end. But with this book you just don’t know if everyone is going to make it in the end…and if they even deserve to. The narration is done in a manner where the characters are truly brought to life. Kudos to that team for sure. Mr. Ford definitely has a hit on his hands here. If they ever decide to make this into a show or movie they have a phenomenal template to follow with the audiobooks. Will be sure to recommend this to everyone I know that likes to have their ears thoroughly entertained!

Amateurish, predictable, and almost unreadable.

It needed editing, a few times I skipped dialogue that was plodding to its predictable outcome. The pace was good till it wasn't. It was as if the author walked away from the keyboard and let his kid take over while he went for a smoke. There were just too many useless details and comments that wandered, bringing the whole carnival to a grinding halt. The book wandered off the storyline way too often. It made me just sigh and hope he returned to the plot soon. It needed real editing, not just spellcheck. Other than that it was great.

Enjoyable but not life changing

A good, easy listen. A range of characters from diverse backgrounds, which I enjoyed, but the story and relationships weren't very deep.

Fun read

Nothings too demanding about this book, the story flowed well, the narrators were very good, felt a bit too YA a lot of the time which is what it may be targeting as it’s audience but I felt a bit disconnected a lot of the time, guess I am just an old man
