A deadly virus killed every adult on Earth, leaving only the kids behind. With her parents gone, Lisa is responsible for her little brother, Todd. She has to make sure they stay alive. Many kids are sick or starving, and fierce gangs are stealing and destroying everything they find. Lots of people have given up, but on Grand Avenue, some kids are surviving. Because of Lisa. Lisa figured out how to give the kids on Grand Avenue food, homes, and protection against the gangs. But Tom Logan and his army are determined to take that away and rule the streets themselves. How long can Lisa's group keep fighting them off? They need to find a place to live safely. A strong place. A secret place. In a world like this, someone has to take charge. But does Lisa have the strength to take charge of a whole city?

this is based on graphic novel, not the book

Silly me, I loved this book when I was a kid and wanted to listen to it with my daughter. However, this version is of the graphic novel, not the actual book. Obviously, I figured it out a too late. We listened to it anyway.

The actual book is awesome, this one...not so much. Skip this and read the actual book.

NOT THE WHOLE STORY!!!!!!!

This is not the full story. I am very upset that there was no notification that it was abridged that I could easily find.

Abridged

Didn’t realize this was abridged. The original book was much better. Still a good story

Not the same

This graphic novel is horrible . It’s not like the real story which was better. I wish the original version was in a audiobook.

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

I read this book back in elementary school and feel in love with it. i had an audio book copy years ago through a special service that i no long have access to so you can imagine delight when i found this here and then my utter dispair when i found that this is the comic book version not the actual book. Very very disappointing. i even emailed audible to tell them the audio was messed up before realizing it was the comic book but never heard a peep out of them. wish i could get my money back and get this out of my library.

Read this in Seventh Grade.

The girl who owned a city is a great modern day version of the Lord of the Flies. Very short and entertaining but still very poignant even today during the pandemic. What would you do if toilet paper ran out? Where would you go to find hand sanitizer and PPE‘s? how much of it would you hold?

Snippet

This is not the whole book, but rather an abridged short version of highlights. Very disappointing.

Good Story Too Short

Great story, great Narraration and good pace in dialogue. I just wish it went into a little bit more detail. It costs $10 for an hour worth of my time. That's how much I make in an hour. Great for children and not too adult.

This is the graphic novel, not the original

If you want the audiobook version of the graphic novel then great, this is for you. That's not what I was trying to find so I am disappointed I didn't check first before buying.
