But the jobs have started to go wrong. The realization is slow coming, yet when it arrives, it is irrefutable: Someone out there is trying to hit the hit man. And this was a delicate job that Rovito had given him: retrieving a very important jacket, loaded with heroin, from the fresh grave of the drug mule who was accidentally buried wearing it. There was just one problem (at least - just one to begin with): It turned out the grave was empty. Suddenly Engel was the one finding himself “in deep”.

The Long Con
I really enjoyed this entertaining (if dated) story about a couple of grifters trying to pull a long con. Block's writing is taut, his characters interesting and of course, there's some unexpected intrigue!
The Hard Case Crime series rarely seems to disappoint and Alan Sklar's narration is a perfect match for Block's writing.

Great con story
This is one of Lawrence Block’s best. He takes you deep into the life of grifters practicing the “long con”. Characters are great, plot is excellent and there are some nice twists.
