Terrible book
HATED this one. May be unpopular opinion, but total waste of time. I found the author incredibly patronizing and negative. Everything from “If say you don’t have symptoms, you’re lying, “If your friend said she was basking in the pregnancy experience, she’s lying,” If you were lucky enough to look like a supermodel before, you’ll never get your body back now so, sorry sister, don’t try” “You’ll never be the same, you’re a mom now after all after not a woman”,—- to laughing off and borderline condoning the concept of your partner having an AFFAIR because of your change in appearance. I was a bit disgusted at that point but finished the rest just for ammo for my review. Quite offended and to be honest, she comes across as jealous and uneducated. Again, hated it. Don’t waste your time.

Lots of fun! (A little bit outdated)
I LOVED how honest and blunt this book was, and it’s pretty hilarious in a few parts! However given the rapidly improving nature of medicine, and movement toward empowering mothers to make decisions both during pregnancy, with testing, and in the delivery room, some of the concepts presented are a bit outdated. It’s also a little bit obsessed with how a woman looks, as well as traditional male and female roles, which I think some modern listeners will not relate to given body positivity, health at every size, and other recent movements. All in all a good listen, especially if you don’t already have a bunch of girlfriends who told you all this not-so-fun stuff during their pregnancies LOL!

Terrible read
Honestly, reading this book made me angry at so many junctures. I didn't realize I accidentally bought this on audible as well as hard copy; what a waste of money. It should be titled Unhealthy Wasp's Guide to Pregnancy. How vapid do you need to be to care if your toenails are painted to please the doctor during your delivery? It was so unrelatable and the relationship she describes with her husband's treatment of her and her pregnancy could only be summed up as toxic. Honestly, this book got me so upset with the terrible advice and awful perspective that I didn't even think it was worthy of donating to Good Will, I threw it straight in the trash to save some other poor woman from the poisonous advice.

A bit outdated in the mindset
Even if this book has been written more than 20 years ago, and present some outdated advices in terms of body image and exercices during pregnancy (for example), it still nice to read something light among all the literature out there about pregnancy. I found myself laughing some time to time, and that felt pretty good. So don’t take everything personally, keep in mind that we are now living in the XXIst century.

A lighthearted change to other pregnancy books
for me this is a very difficult book to review . it is a refreshing change to have a lighthearted book to listen to that is different from the general pregnancy books on the market. it is like having a friend tell you the ins and outs of pregnancy rather than being overloaded with information. my problem is that I couldn't quite relate . it wasnt as down to earth as It could be . overall it is a good distraction and is comical . I was given this book by the author / narrator to listen to in exchange for an unbiased review

Thankful for my partner
Overall this book was a funny and a straight up way to describe the craziness of pregnancy. As a first time pregnant mum it was a relief to hear all the nitty gritty of things so many won’t talk about. But over all this, this book just made me feel even more blessed for my partner, and that my partner was absolutely nothing like those described in the books. My main issue with this book is how men are talked about as out of touched, un caring and that we should just accept it. Some of the things were shocking for me to hear that some women had put up with from their partners, and as I said, this made me so thankful for my partner and how in touch and caring he has been. I truly do hope this book has over exaggerated the incompetence of some people’s partners…
