Chris Delaney

I've promised myself that this was going to be the year to finally buckle down. I'm a junior, and I’ve settled on a major. I've got focus and determination. The one thing I haven't figured out yet? How to deal with the massive crush I've been harboring on the guy in study carrel six. I don’t know his name, and some of my friends think it’s time for me to move on, but he has this whole sexy, broody, dark eyes and messy hair thing going for him. And yeah, he seems like he could be my polar opposite. The kind of unapproachable, serious type who doesn’t smile much, but I’d like to think he’s all rays of sunshine underneath his stormy expressions and disheveled demeanor. All that intense energy…I dig it. I want to know him.

The rub? I’ll have to find the courage to actually introduce myself.

Aiden Russo

The college experience is supposed to be parties, drinking, and fun with a few classes mixed in. It sounds pretty amazing, right? For me, it turned out to be endless lectures, avalanches of homework, and copious amounts of caffeine. The study carrel might as well be my dorm room. And that guitar under my bed? It's got two years of dust growing on it. But this is the life I have to lead if I’m ever going to help my dad. Pre-med isn’t for the weak.

The problem? Loneliness holds me hostage. If only I could find someone willing to break through my ever-present cloud bank, and remind me what it’s like to have fun again.

Sweet, low angst

This addition to the FU series is lovely. Chris is sunshine and Aidan is sweet and passionate, but the whole glow up concept didn't really work. They met, liked each other, and dated. There really was no glow up- which I honestly was relieved because I hate makeover concepts in romance.

I didn't find it believable that Aiden was determined to get a degree in psychology because of his dad's issues. Even with a degree, you can never treat your own family. it just seemed like the angst was forced, didn't feel natural.

Also, I feel bad every time Vincent is mentioned as a tutor, he's not good at it. I also didn't think it would take as many years for Chris and Aiden to get engaged, especially given they bought a house and started a business together. maybe that is just me, but it just didn't seem to fit the characters.

the playlist that goes with this book is amazing! Honestly, it's one of my favorite parts about it. However, that cover is AWFUL. Aiden looks like a bad boy junkie. honestly, it would have been better to have that model for Brax! I hate that they made Aiden look like that.

Chris and Aiden

"𝙈𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚... 𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙢𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪."

The Glow Up by A.M. Johnson is Chris and Aiden’s story and the fifth book in the Franklin U series.

Aiden has lost all his ambition by being stuck in college courses he doesn't even want to do. Chris has crushed on Aiden for over two years so after an incident and Aiden confides in Chris about his life, Chris convinces Aiden to allow him to get his glow back.

I fell in love with Aiden and Chris right from the beginning. I love their growth together from embarrassing encounter to friendship to relationship and how they went from adorably awkward to total swoon. Chris is the perfect person to help Aiden become the new version of his old self.

Teddy Hamilton is amazing as always. A first-time listen for me with Michael Crouch as a narrator and I feel he was the perfect choice for Chris.

The Glow Up contains… mm, college, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, secret crush, hurt/comfort, told in the dual first-person point of view.

This is a fun series!

I really like AM Johnson's Let There Be Light, so I was hoping for another sort of angsty new adult romance. There wasn't much tension here at all, but it's a sweet story with engaging characters. The entire Franklin U series is just fun. Also, Teddy Hamilton is everything!

So sweet

What a sweet love story. Reminds you of your first love and you can’t help but to get swept up. The two MC’s are adorable and lovable. Low angst and a slow burn in the best possible way. One of my favorites of the series. A.M. Johnson never disappoints. And the narrators are perfect for the book.

Another great AM Johnson story!

AM Johnson is known for her low angst, high heat, and all the feels, and this is no exception! I love Teddy Hamilton and this was my first time hearing Michael Crouch. it's amazing how these to were able to transform Aiden and Chris to what I had heard in my head.

A winner as always from A.M. Johnson

Love this book. Aiden is living his life for someone else until he meets Chris . It's a beautiful story that has angst that's not manufactured and not over the top. There's conversation and care between the 2 MC's that seems very head on for the age and the situation. The narrators are amazing - they provide depth and feeling to the text that make it rise up. The book is absolutely a stand alone but also fits into the universe these 7 authors have created together ! Highly recommend

A.M Johnson is just the best

Seriously, this woman knows how to balance on the knife edge between comedy and mega-angst. I loved this.

It felt really balanced, somewhere between the Twin Hearts books and Love Always, Wild in tone but wayyyyyyy steamier then I remember either ever being. Like… all the sexual chemistry. A plus on that. Everyone is very lovable and no horrible breakup bogs the pacing.

It was super.

I especially enjoyed the pairing up of Teddy Hamilton and Michael Crouch. I almost feel like they are better together than TH and Jacob Morgan (*gasp*).

Highly recommend, totally worth the credit.

Also Ms. Johnson! I miss your stuff. You rock.

Absolutely adorable!

The Glow Up book five in the Franklin U series. A MM college romance series collaboration between either authors. Each author writing their own book within the FU world.

While you can definitely read them in order I haven't and it hasn't hindered my reading. Characters do cross over but the books have been written so that you can read them out of order.

We briefly meet Aiden in Amanda's For Him series and after loving that series I couldn't wait to dive into this one. Chris and Aiden are absolutely cinnamon rolls and it's a sweet feel good vibe that I was totally here for. Even though it's set in the FU world it didn't have that frat vibe that they other books did which was fantastic for variety in the series and absolutely worked for this couple and their story.

I of course all can't say no to a book narrated by Teddy Hamilton so I've course I waited for this to hit audiobook and it was so worth the wait. Teddy narrates with Michael Crouch, they did a superb job!
