Publisher's Summary

The most uplifting audiobook you’ll listen to this year!

It has been a long and lonely year for neighbours Vivienne, Mary and Gwen. All ladies of a ‘certain age’, their lockdown experience has left them feeling isolated and alone. They are in desperate need of a change.

Things start to look up however, when Gwen comes up with a plan to get them out of London by borrowing a motor home. In no time at all the ladies are on the road - away from the city, away from their own four walls and away from their worries.

The British countryside has never looked more beautiful. As they travel from Stonehenge to Dartmoor, from the Devon and Cornish coasts to the Yorkshire moors, gradually the years fall back and the three friends start to imagine new futures with no limitations.

And as their journey continues and their friendships deepen and while the seaside views turn into glorious mountains and moors, Mary, Vivienne and Gwen learn to smile again, to laugh again and maybe even to love again. Now they can believe that the best is still to come....

Funny, joyful and with a spring in its step that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French and Cathy Hopkins.

Great Book!

I love Judy Leigh's books. As a 62-year-old single woman, I find it so refreshing to find books with older characters who have dreams, fall in love, develop fast friendships and experience all of the things that most books and movies seem to believe only happen to younger people. Phyllida Nash does an excellent job giving life and a distinctive voice to each character.

A great laugh through and through. I felt connected to Vivian, Gwen and Mary from the very start. Highly recommend if you just need to smile.

Cosy gentle adventure of some older ladies!

This is my first book from this writer, and I've really enjoyed the diverse little group of characters and their stories. Gentle fiction like a warm hug. Lovely narration too.

Gentle and uplifting

A gentle, uplifting tale
of friendship in later life - but don't be thinking walking stick and residential homes!! These three very different but spirited ladies lift from the page and made me laugh and cry. Much enjoyed.

A safe non raunchy story about 3 ladies cementing friendship. Made perfect background company while completing chores.

If only!

Was a great audio book for bed time I was asleep in minutes! Well narrated but there is only so many times you can hear the three women discuss meals and wine- relentless!
It was too far fetched for me Chick Lit for oldies, it would have been far better if at least one of them realistically realised you can be happy being single, or maybe Mary should have peacefully died (sorry Mary).
It was all tooo Nice.

Heartwarming, sensitive and hopeful

An easy read, a heartwarming and sensitive book, giving hope to us all over 60s and an insight to those under that age that life is never over to the day it ends. Beautifully written.
