Publisher's Summary

To be a great leader, you must be able to unite people from all backgrounds with seemingly competing agendas to come together under a common cause. Marc Morial, former mayor of New Orleans and current president and CEO of the National Urban League, has been such a leader and shares the lessons he learned along a legendary journey of achievement.

Morial knew his calling from a young age - he was meant to be a leader in the fight for meaningful change. Growing up in the segregated South and helping his father realize an incredible victory as the first African American mayor of New Orleans, Morial was shown that, with the right tools, significant change is possible.

Less than two decades later, in his own mayoral race in New Orleans, Morial built what he christened the “Gumbo Coalition”, an incredible mixture of all of New Orleans’s ingredients - African Americans, Whites, Latinos, Asians, business leaders, grassroots community activists, business leaders, clergy, and many more. Each ingredient brought its own flavor, creating a dish that was able to reduce crime and rebuild New Orleans’s reputation with such power that the city was able to successfully attract an NBA franchise, multiple Super Bowls, and the Essence Festival, the largest African American event in the nation.

Now, Morial fights on behalf of the National Urban League to create a community with a voice so strong that nothing can stand in the way of change. He is ready to teach others what he has learned along the way, by showing listeners what it means to be a leader who can unite voices and create meaningful change.

This is a good read for leading professionals

MM talks about his ability to lead and work with people from the streets to the suites. This in-depth look at the raw grit, confidence & determination is one that needed to be shared by a leader and set a model for other leaders to follow.

It’s a leadership that BOLD, Audacious and not for the faint at heart. It’s a set of potentially learned behaviors that can and will transform leadership approaches and outcomes.

I’d highly recommend.

IMPETUS FOR A GLOBAL IDEA...STAY TUNED

Even though Mr. Shippy did an excellent job narrating this book and has a voice that is as comforting to listen to as Nawlin's Native my Deceased Mamma Grace's Gumbo... I couldn't put it down because of the Subject Matter.

Like Mr. Morial I'm also from Pontchartrain Park Of the side of "The Ditch" lived across the street from The golf course on Congress Dr. back in the Early to Mid 60's and were probably neighbors and didn't know each other but It is my understanding is very good friends to some of my family members.

I will be reaching out to him and have done so already actually and all I can say is watch out what he does next..!!!

I would encourage everyone (maybe you can't listen to it and spend 7 hours like I did in a row because I'm double retired) but I 100% encourage everyone to dine on this Delicious Literary delicacy.

I'm Darrell Fulton, Sr. "EZD" (Inventor of a Patent Pending System in Golf which will Establish & Standardize a Perfect Score: will be called "Fulton 54 GPS (Golf's Perfect Score)... TBA soon!!
