Number one best seller

I’d go anywhere for her....

Even to Kingmakers, the most brutal college in the world. Where mafia heirs are trained to control, dominate, infiltrate, and kill.

I followed Anna because she’s my best friend. I’ve always been right by her side.

She needs me to protect her. Especially from Dean Yenin, a Bratva heir with a lethal grudge.

He plans to take everything from me. Starting with Anna....

The Heir is the first book in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series. It’s a forbidden friends-to-lovers romance filled with mystery, suspense, and sizzling-hot bedroom scenes that take place everywhere but the bedroom.

Loved It!

Really enjoyed The Heir, book one in the Kingmakers Series by Sophie Lark.

I had the opportunity to listen to it on audio and was not disappointed! Narrators Chloe Ryan, Michael Gallagher and Greg Salinas delivered an exceptional performance bringing zest and personality to these characters.

This book takes place at an elite school called the Kingmakers which places young adults rising up to their mafia background together to prepare and train for life in the mafia world.

This is a friends to lovers romance but really it’s so much more as there is a lot going on. Leo and Anna’s relationship in this story shows the evolution of these two as they start as friends and develop into lovers. Its got steam but more importantly it has a good character development.

I’m excited to listen to the next book to learn more about the other characters and to see the progression of Leo and Anna.

Leo, Dean and Anna

Leo, Dean and Anna

King Makers Academy for the Mafia. This is somewhat of a love triangle. I mean I didn’t know I was supposed to be rooting for. This is a spin-off from the Brutal Birthright series which I loved. The academy is to teach the mafia young adult how to survive in real life… their real life. There is angst, jealousy, love and violence which all makes for a great book. I recommend this book. The narration was great! Sisters Spotlight 💕

Brilliant Story & Listen🎧 A Wild & Thrilling Ride

I am thrilled that Sophie Lark is not finished with the amazing “Brutal Birthright” world she created, a Mafia world that is this complex and phenomenally built. I loved every book in that series and this series, the “Kingmakers” is a spinoff of that series, their children, the next generation, the Mafia Princes and Princesses who will fill their parent’s shoes when the time is right and become Mafia Kings and Queens. I loved every book in that series and this series, the “Kingmakers” spinoffs from that series with their children, the next generation, the Mafia Princes and Princesses who will fill their parent’s shoes when the time is right and become Mafia Kings and Queens. The series starts off with Leo Gallo and Anna Wilk’s story, Leo is the only son of Yelena Yenina and Sebastian Gallo from “Heavy Crown” and Anna is the oldest daughter of Mikolaj and Nessa Griffen from “Stolen Heir”. No worries if this is your first Sophie Lark book, this book does stand on its own, everything you need to know is detailed in the story. Because of the family dynamics and connections Anna and Leo grew up together and became good friends. The two are graduating high school, despite being accepted into Juilliard Anna rather go to the Kingmakers Academy, a training facility for the underground elite from all over the world, including the Irish and Italian Mafia, Polish Braterstwoa and the Russian Bratva, and where Anna goes so does Leo. These two grew up as cousins, so it felt strange when their feelings morphed beyond friendship, neither one wanted to act on those feelings, afraid to ruin their lifelong friendship. Things start off great for them in their new school, it is a whole new adventure for them, but there are instant rivals and even an enemy to the family, Dean Yenin, Leo’s estranged cousin. Leo’s Mom and her Brother Adrian had a falling out when the families were at war and it cost Leo’s father a lot, because of that and his own reasons he holds a grudge. Dean is cunning and is determined to take everything away from Leo. This is one angsty romantic suspense, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, twists and turns, action, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and some steamy romance. Sophie Lark, thank you for another amazing story and a wild and thrilling emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Chloe Ryan, Michael Gallagher and Gregory Salinas were the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that was a perfect fit for that characters persona, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, grasped every single emotion from their character, had you feeling them as well as the angst, the thrill and the suspense. These mega talented narrators are versatile voice artists and entertaining storytellers. Thank you for this exceptional listen.

Going on my Favorites! I could listen to this over and over!

Another smash hit from this author! Seriously can she write anything bad? I don’t believe she can! This one I thought would be just another college years story…but it’s so much more! Twists, turns and surprises around every corner! Characters that make me smile, give me chills and made me plead and cry for them. Oh…and that KISS! Whoa! So hot it gave me tummy flutters!

I did listen to this gem on audio. The narration is done perfectly and I loved the addition the third narrator. It brought the love triangle to life!

Brilliant start to the series!

Once again, Sophie Lark delivers a solid storyline and phenomenal character development. The Heir, the first book in the Kingmakers series, a spin-off to the Brutal Birthright, is wonderfully written, stunning, and totally captivating. The premise is fascinating, a new adult mafia Academy romance with friends-to-lovers and dark elements. Kingmakers Academy is where the second generation of criminal organization heirs, enforcers, future spinners are prepared and mentored to run their family's criminal empires. Academy is pretty brutal, rules are stringent, and punishments are severe, devised to make the students as ruthless and cold as possible. The storyline is an intricately woven love triangle between Anna, Leo, and Dean. Anna is Miko and Nessa's oldest kid, Leo is Sebastian and Yelena's only child. Dean is Leo's cousin, but there is more hate between the two than love. Anna, Leo, and Dean's personalities are multilayered and appealing, expressing genuine depth while bringing unique elements to the story. Their story is elaborate and intense, filled with drama, angst, tension, and unforeseen twists. As soon as it started, I was hooked and was totally lost in the great plot and narration.

The narration is absolutely terrific. Chloe Ryan, Michael Gallagher, and Gregory Salinas worked perfectly together. The story is told in three POVs, and the narrators embodied and depicted each characters' distinct personalities and emotions flawlessly. They breathed life into Lark's words and connected the listeners with the characters. The Heir was a satisfying listen; I enjoyed every second of it, and one I'm wholeheartedly recommending.

My Thoughts on The Heir

I was excited to start this book having really enjoyed the original Birthright series. After finishing this first one in the spin off I feel it’s shaping up to be just as good. And while I loved getting to see the couples from the original series through their children’s eyes and to see how they’ve grown since their books; I was just as excited to get to know this next generation. Those I get to meet in this book certainly didn’t disappoint. I don’t want to give to many details, because I feel like this book might be best just jumping in with little to no forward knowledge. And the blurb doesn’t give much away so I’m taking my que for this review from there. I will say I loved the friends-to-lovers trope the author through in. And I loved the direction she went for the POV. I also felt there were some really intriguing secondary characters that I hope to see much more of in future books in this series. The storyline is well paced and for a longer story it certainly had no trouble holding my attention and bringing me back for more every time I did need to put it down. I also really liked the narrator choices for this story. The guys were both voices I’ve heard and enjoyed before, but the female narrator Chloe Ryan was new to me. I liked her tone just as much though and I felt like each one was a good fit. Overall, I just really loved this story, and I can’t wait for more.

What cn I say about this book, should I mention that it kept me up most of the night wondering how the ending would go? Should i mention that the suspense and intrigue that it carries around with it is so very enjoyable? Or should I just mention that this book is seriously hot? This book is all of the above and more. .It’s well written and captivating. I did not want this one to ever end.

Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Anna & Leo

The Heir is my first Sophia Lark read and with just this one, I’ve made a mental note to go back to the first generation because it really left me wanting to learn more about the world that has been created.

The letter to Kingmakers is what all these kids wait for. It is their expectation and a look into their future. Basic training for the next gen Mafia families.

Anna is the heir in her family, a role that usually goes to a male, but her father has been preparing her all her life and she is ready for it.

Leo, his family’s heir and close enough to Anna to be considered family.

But, what happens when they both realize the feelings they have for each other go beyond that of a cousin. When they need to fight the feelings and jealousy of seeing each other try to act normal.

Start the Kingmakers series and learn how the Mafia trains the next heirs to be accountants, spies and more from all over the world. And get a little romance and steam while you're at it.

What’s even better is it is available on Audio with Chloe Ryan, Michael Gallagher, and Gregory Salinas bringing the story straight from the pages to your ears.

Captivating and intense!

I can already tell this is going to be another amazing series by Sophie Lark. I love that we not only get Leo and Anna's point of view but we also get Dean's as well. I thought this would end in a major cliffhanger but it didn't. This book covers the first year at Kingmakers. It is intense, brutal and full of twists and turns. It deals with revenge, obsession and jealously. You won't find anything boring in this book! It had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series. Chloe Ryan, Michael Gallagher and Gregory Salinas all did an amazing job bringing this story to life.

So good.

Kingmakers is where Mafia heirs are trained and it’s brutal . This book follows Leo Sebastian’s son as he follows Anna to Kingmakes to protect her . You just know there’s going to be conflict as Dean Yenin is also there and his Dad has poisoned his mind towards Sebastian’s family. I love the Brutal Birthright series and listening to their offspring stories was excellent . I listened to an ALC of the audio and the narrators Gregory Salinas, Chloe Ryan & Michael Gallagher were excellent .

Circling back to book 1

4 5 stars I started this series reading book 3. (Yes, I know you're not supposed to do that, but it's fine) So to circle back was...interesting. This is a tale told in 3 POVs; Anna, her best friend Leo and Dean. Leo left his full ride to join Anna at Kingmakers and Dean..he's got grudges. This was totally worth the read, especially knowing how book 3 and 4 pan out, it's a wild ride and it gets a little dark in spots. Leo and Anna were so beautiful together when it finally happened. I won't leave it so long to dive into The Rebel. The audio is outstanding.

Great start for the new generation

This is a great start for the next generation of mafia leaders. Starting off with Leo and Anna best friends forever away at school and deciding the feelings they have for each other is a lot more than friendship. Bringing in old grudges in Dean the cousin of Leo and the hatred they have for each other. My only question is Dean redeemable from his actions in this book no but time will tell. Love the characters introduced and can’t wait to read their stories. Favorite character is Miles he is the perfect combination of Ada and Callum.
