Story
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Some form of devilry has come over Mr. Darcy. Since his father’s death, Fitzwilliam Darcy has endeavored to be reliable, responsible, and restrained. But upon visiting Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, he finds himself weary of the struggle to be so damnably well regulated and delights in a revival of the carefree mischief that characterized his younger days. Publisher's Summary
When his freedom means the loss of hers...can anyone win?
Fitzwilliam Darcy has avoided the entrapments of dozens of desperate maidens seeking a wealthy husband...until the Netherfield Ball. He could lose himself in her fine eyes, but there's just one problem: She doesn't want him.
Elizabeth Bennet seeks a brief respite from the crowded ballroom only to find herself wrapped in the arms of the one man she despises - Mr. Darcy.
When Darcy's enemy is shot to death, he must choose between Elizabeth's freedom and his own honor. To complicate matters further, Elizabeth is not one to stand idly by when her future is on the line. With a killer on the loose, can she help Darcy reveal the truth before he's accused of a crime she knows he didn't commit? Or will she become the next victim?
The Honorable Mr. Darcy is the first novel in Jennifer Joy's A Meryton Mystery romance series set in England's captivating Regency era - when a gentleman's manners were regarded as highly as a lady's reputation and a happy marriage was the ultimate prize (although a fortune was never frowned upon).
If you like falling in love with Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth as they fall for each other, then you'll love this sweet romance-mystery variation of Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice.
Listen to The Honorable Mr. Darcy to satisfy your craving for a fast-paced mystery interwoven with a heartwarming, wholesome romance today!

Great story great narration
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes I couldn't guess the mystery
Any additional comments?
This was a very fun audiobook and the narrator did a great job with differciating between the voices.
I have read the original pride and prejudice countless time, I have watched all the different movies made from it. I have also read a few books that were loosely based on it but they have all been contemporary. This was my first time reading something like this book. It was exactly what the title says, a variation of the original story. It has the same cast of characters and the story starts from the ball in the Bingley's house with everything exactly happening the same upto that point.
The mystery was great and it kept me guessing up until the very end. The pace was slow a bit the middle, if I'd been reading I probably would have skipped a little bit but the audio was entertaining and I truly enjoyed this book and the writing.
I would definitely read the next installment in the series when it comes out.

An interesting mystery set in Austen's Meryton...
Retellings of well-known classics are tricky - if well done, they are entertaining in their development of the possibilities the original story offered, if not... well, they leave readers irritated at best. 'The Honorable Mr Darcy', luckily, belongs to the first group. It's a really nicely done mystery/cozy mystery set amongst our old friends, the Bingleys, the Bennets and the Darcys:)
The characters are well-known to all fans of Austen's book, and their personalities stay generally the same as in the original, which is good because we can basically predict how they will react to anything that happens . We have a bit more insight into Elizabeth's and Darcy's thoughts and feelings as we follow the storyline through their eyes mostly, which also makes us more involved in the plot. There are new characters, too, all full-bodied people, one especially who is really ambiguous - you hate him at the beginning only to find out that he's not at all who we think he is:)
The mystery of Wickham's murder is intriguing, well-developed, with more than one possible suspect, all with equally plausible motifs and without ironclad alibis. And the solution is not at all obvious and will probably take you by surprise...:)
Narration by Ms Peterson is very well done, although maybe a tad slow (or maybe it's just me, already used to speeding up books a bit:)). But generally she reads the narrative parts very well, conveys the emotions clearly, and the voices she does match the personalities of individual characters perfectly. It's a very good interpretation of the book.

Fun Variation of P&P
I have received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
I confess, I am a P&P junkie. I have read and watched multiple iterations of Pride and Prejudice - some more satisfying than others. This variation is definitely worth a look.
The characters of Mr. Darcy and Lizzie are definitely true to form. There's lots of humor - in the antics of Mr. Collins and Lizzie's mother, Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Wickham has been murdered and Mr. Darcy is the prime suspect. His alibi - Lizzie but neither can reveal the truth of where Mr. Darcy was at the time of the crime without compromising Lizzie's reputation. Now, Mr. Darcy must discovery the true culprit before he ends up in a hangman's noose. This was so enjoyable - it was romantic how Mr. Darcy and Lizzie discover each other's true nature; the mystery was a lot of fun; the inventiveness of Lizzie to guide the investigation; and it was just plain fun to spend some more time with these characters.
The narrator, Nancy Peterson, has a melodic voice with a light British accent. She has a good pacing and delivers the humor with great tongue-in-cheek manner.

Great Who-done-it
What did you love best about The Honorable Mr. Darcy?
I have always enjoyed the "what-ifs" and this book really filed that. The characters of Darcy and Elizabeth were pretty true to their roots.
Who was your favorite character and why?
LIzzy was my fave. she was just as headstrong as in the original novel.
Which scene was your favorite?
I'd rather not answer this due to spoilers for other readers.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did, but due to pesky adulting duties i could not.
Any additional comments?
Loved the narrator. She didn't ruin the book as so many others do.

If you could sum up The Honorable Mr. Darcy in three words, what would they be?
Can`t believe how much I`m enjoying all these P&P books, the narrative is just fantastic and I think I would so be Elizabeth's friend if I had lived in her time. She is funny, smart and so very witty.
Really enjoyable audiobook, highly recommend.

Great narrator ...Okay story
Any additional comments?
The book was a good story of misunderstandings leading to major issues. It was a heartwarming romance but I really didn’t see a lot of mystery. I have never read Pride & Prejudice and most likely never will it is just not something that interests me which I believe this story is based on or around. It has a good plot but it is drawn out a little too much for me and I found my mind wondering having to really think about what I just listened to as to make sure I got the full impact. I have read others in this time period that really pulled me in with a lot of action, mystery etc this one just didn’t do it. I did like how Darcy protects Elizabeth even though he wanted her for his self but wanted it to be a match she wants not one she is forced into. All in all it was an okay read I give it a 3.5 bring it up to a 4. Some area where just too long to really grab and keep my attention.
Ms. Peterson did a wonderful job on narration her tones were smooth and her voice is very rich. I really like her character voices both male and female were full of emotion you always know what the other is feeling. You are never left guessing who as to who is saying what, it was very easy to tell who each character was. She got the bratty sister down so well that she got on my nerves which I am sure was what she was suppose to do. If any breaks were taken you could not tell, the volume stayed even throughout the whole audio. This was a very rich, clean and clean audio with a much enjoyable voice that does not get tiring to listen to. There isn’t any background noise it was a very clear audio from start to finish. Ms. Peterson has a very easy voice to listen to. I haven’t listened to anything by her and look forward to listening to more of her work.
The author gives you a few twist and turns to make the story more interesting. Darcy is accused of shooting Mr. Wickham. There is only one person who can prove he wasn’t anywhere near that tent at that hour but to do so they would have to get married. The author tells a story of what to do, tell or not tell. The story is based on trust, honor and misunderstanding.

A Mr. Darcy Who Done It
Any additional comments?
Definitely a different take on the Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth story. Wickham is dead and Darcy is at the top of the suspect list because he’s so disliked. Fortunately he has an ally in Elizabeth. This is unexpected by Darcy since it's at a time when she clearly dislikes him. The romantic tension between the two is there, and everyone’s personalities follow the original story, but most everything else is a noticeable departure. I think that’s what makes this so different and interesting. The author, Jennifer Joy, does a great job at keeping you guessing about the true murdered, and in the end it's quite the surprise. If you’re looking for something different in the romance genre this is a great option, especially if you're a P&P fan.

What a delightful story to stumble upon!
What a delightful story to stumble upon! If you love regency books with a good clean storyline, then this is a story for you. This book starts out with all the characters we know and love from the original Pride and Prejudices book. With this book, we get to go on a new adventure of murder and mystery. What if one of the original characters is murdered? How would that change the story? There are a few parts that drag on a bit, and I found myself getting a little bored, but then something exciting would happen and draw me back in. I'm so glad I came across Nancy Petersen's book. I will definitely be listening to more of her books!

I actually really enjoyed this variation. This book is very different from the original with most of the characters personalities in tact. However, in this version the main villain Mr. Wickham is killed quite early in the story and Darcy is the main suspect. The story is much more mystery with the romance added in. The mystery side has plenty of twists and turns and is not a predictable. I would definitely be interested to see where this series goes in the next book.
Parents- PG- middle grade and up read
Language: none
Violence: murder not graphic and mild nondescript violence
Sexual Content- none, just some kissing
Narrator did a great job and was fun to listen.

A fun alternative Pride & Prejudice
I absolutely adore Jane Austen’s original work, but you know what it is missing? A murder mystery!
This was a lovely alternate version where we got to see the story from multiple points of view including Mr Darcy’s which pleased me greatly.
I shan’t ever see the original the same way again!

The honorable Mr.Darcy
I loved it.
Many authors have tried to do there own version of Pride and Prejudice and some succeed in coming up with a variation (like this one) and others fail.
If you love Pride and prejudice variation with a mystery then you will love this book.
