Dr. Rankin discovered the health care she had been taught was missing something: a recognition of the body’s innate ability to self-repair. Using cases of spontaneous healing, Dr. Rankin shows how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can alter the body’s physiology. She lays out the data proving that loneliness, pessimism, depression, fear, and anxiety damage the body, while intimate relationships, gratitude, meditation, sex, and authentic self-expression flip on the body’s self-healing processes.

Publisher's Summary
A Harvard physician’s scientifically proven method to improve your physical and mental health by optimizing your hormones in your 30s, 40s, and beyond....
Dr. Sara Gottfried refuses to accept the traditional medical thinking that feeling cranky, asexual, tapped out, and sleep-deprived is just part of being female and aging, and that prescription medication will fix all problems. Offering solutions in nonjudgmental and thoughtful language, Dr. Gottfried provides a novel plan based on solid scientific research. She believes you don’t find a cure at the bottom of a pill bottle. A specialist in functional and integrative therapies, Dr. Gottfried bases her three-step treatment strategy on 10 years’ study of cutting-edge techniques and ancient treatments validated by current medical research. The plan includes supplements and targeted lifestyle changes that address underlying deficiencies, herbal therapies, and bio-identical hormones - most available without a prescription.
Easy to understand and highly illuminating, The Hormone Cure demonstrates how balancing your hormones can actually cure underlying health issues, alleviate symptoms, and give women a life of increased energy, sensuality, and resilience.

Great info, super dull to listen to.
I love listening to health and nutrition podcasts and have enjoyed other audiobooks in this genre, but I was actually relieved when this one finally ended. Even the parts that I was extremely interested in were very hard to pay attention to. I'm certain that this is because of the narration style, not the author's writing. I will probably just buy the physical book to re-read and use as a reference because the narrator is so very dull to listen to. Don't waste your time or money on this audiobook, just get a hard copy.

Good information, very difficult to follow
Would you recommend The Hormone Cure to your friends? Why or why not?
This book is full of great information, but I would recommend getting the paperback or kindle edition rather than the audiobook. There is a lot of dense information, checklists, and charts you will want to refer back to and you can't do that with an audiobook. I have never wished I could return an audiobook until now.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator sounds much older than I imagine the author to be, and she almost sounds like she is lecturing at times, as well as pronouncing medical terms like she has never heard of them before.
Any additional comments?
Wish I could return it.

Listening to this book is stressful
The narrator chosen for this book puts strong emphasis on every three or four words. I feel like I'm being shouted at. She might be a better fit for more dramatic material but the constant emphasis makes it hard to grasp what is real important.
The information is great but a bit dry -- I am wishing I had a print copy to refer to for the protocols.

Content 👍. Listening Nil. 😕
Good Info but had to go to book because the narrator was so over dramatic and pessimistic to listen to I skipped vast parts of the audio.
Worst narration ... one of the most difficult books to listen to when Content so important.
Depressing. Angry. Frustrating.
