Publisher's Summary

Kaine Prescott is no stranger to death. When her husband died two years ago, her pleas for further investigation into his suspicious death fell on deaf ears. In desperate need of a fresh start, Kaine purchases an old house sight unseen in her grandfather's Wisconsin hometown. But one look at the eerie, abandoned house immediately leaves her questioning her rash decision. And when the house's dark history comes back with a vengeance, Kaine is forced to face the terrifying realization she has nowhere left to hide.

A century earlier, the house on Foster Hill holds nothing but painful memories for Ivy Thorpe. When an unidentified woman is found dead on the property, Ivy is compelled to discover her identity. Ivy's search leads her into dangerous waters and, even as she works together with a man from her past, can she unravel the mystery before any other lives - including her own - are lost?

Wouldn’t recommend

I did not enjoy the writing. A bit too melodramatic for my taste. I only finished it because I wanted to find out how it ended.

Slow narration. High amount of religious content

Once again I bought a book that has too much religious content. I wish these types of books were identified as such before I make my purchase.

Great new author!

Ms. Wright is a new author to me and I have already purchased her next book. Great storyline, plot, very clean, suspenseful and inspiring as well though you do not expect that.

Very well read by Erin Bennet.

it goes on and on and on and on

This book is split into two perspectives- Caine and Ivy. Caine's story is okay. Nothing too spectacular nor intriguing. Ivy's story on the other hand in literally the SAME. THING. OVER. AND. OVER!!! All she talks about is her dead brother. Again and again and again! It's maddening!!!!!! And she doesnt even tell more about how he died as the book goes on. She just re-hashes the same details over and over. It's like I'm in some sort of time warp. I'm about half way done and literally nothing of interest has happened. Save yourself a credit, and more importantly some time, and get another book.

awesome mystery, juvenile romance

This is an excellent read! My only criticism is the nature and description of the romance felt very idealistic. If this book were geared towards 13 year old girls, I would say that it's perfect; however, the indications of sex trafficking and other more gruesome details make it a little darker than what I would view as appropriate for a teen audience. The mystery was captivating. The clues that tie into both of our main characters stories make this riveting! Apart from my one complaint, this is a good read.

Difficult to Follow

Way too much narration. Every time a conversation that looked a little bit interesting started, a narrator (within the story, not the reader) would jump in and explain…over explain what was being said and why. It was very tiresome.

Aaauuuuuuggggghhhhhh! Too many characters, plot too convoluted, too confusing. I think there might be an interesting story in there but it’s just too difficult to eke out. She just tried to get too many issues into this story. By the time the book was over, I didn’t want to know who was related to whom nor what they did with it. Christianity was tossed in every now and then, on a whim. Very difficult to follow.

Gothic Elements, Great Story!

Really enjoyed this story! I loved the Gothic elements, romance and mystery. I also loved the split time story lines.
