Publisher's Summary

Tearing itself apart from within, the Imperium is still virtually powerless to resist the ork advance.

When the Adeptus Mechanicus reveal they have discovered the orks' point of origin, the Adeptus Astartes start to gather their forces for a massive assault on their enemy's home world. But what the Imperial forces need is a figurehead, a hero from legend to lead them - a primarch.

Meanwhile, on the planet Caldera, a mighty armoured warrior fights tirelessly against the orks. Is he the saviour the Imperium seeks?

Brightest story in a grimdark universe.

If you want the closest thing to a feel good tale of action in the 40k Universe, then this book comes the closest.

Great story that had me enthralled all the way through.
The narration was great, Mr. Armstrong has a very dynamic range.

Check it out.

Bolter-porn at it's best

Loud boom that makes the biggest boom go ka-boom!
I like the politics on terra, the "clever girl"-orks & the space combat. The spacemarines are...well..spacemarines.

Dull

Honestly you can read the synopsis and skip this one. They try to put a pause in the storyline, in my opinion, as a money grab. It's more like clone wars, where there's maybe twenty minutes of good movie wedged around three hours of bs. Not a fan of this one but still an overall good series.

An improvement for the series.

After the previous book I was seriously considering dropping the series. This book was a marked step up.

The story is nothing revelatory- it's about space marines looking for Vulcan, nothing more and nothing less. This is both good and bad. some sort of twist would have been appreciated however the focus on the main narrative remains tight... Thus I will give it a perfectly average rating.

The narrator is the same as always. Is you like him from the east of the series you will continue to like him. I still find him a bit too fast, by dialing the speed down to .9 works well for me. There were no really grating voices so it was pretty easy to listen to.

Good book with a solid narrative.

Excellent story well delivered by the narrator, easiest audiobook I've ever finished basically from start to finish in one sitting.
