HOW LONG AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK?

The first two books were amazing enough.. but I must admit this one was even better. The only thing I regret was reading the other too long ago because I didn't remember all of it and I would've like to piece the pieces of the puzzle better. The way Danielle created this amazing intricate world, and weaved this story into the last one is pure talent. The writing style impeccable for my taste, and both characters so full of colour and depth you could not help but fall in love with both of them.
The fact that for once the heroine is the brave, fighting one and the hero is the "nerdy" tactical one is such a breath of fresh air. Their encounters were so special, and the spice was just ✨on point✨, just a couple of scenes but very well done. I just regret that, although the narrators were really good most of the time, they were not suited for "sensual" talk in my opinion. Other than that I really have no complaints, except the fact that I'll have to wait who knows how long to know what's going to happen to my lovelies. Thank you Danielle, thank you Audible ❤️✨

A disappointing change but still good

3.5

I’ll start off by saying that I still really enjoyed reading this book. Even though I had a lot of issues with it. My biggest complaint is going to be the change from romance to sex. Yes the other books had some sex scenes in them, but overall the plot and character development was front and center. I would say in this book it switched. Even though there weren’t technically that many actual sex scenes, it was much more heavily focused on blunt sexual thoughts and activities… And for me it was lacking in what made the other two so good…a great romance and a great storyline. The second half of this book definitely got a lot better because it really shifted into the actual story. And I was completely sucked in when that happened.

Things I liked:

- The way this story overlapped with the original two books. It was really fun to see everything play out from a completely different angle. Part of me wishes I had reread the other books first, but another part of me is glad I didn’t because those reveals were compelling all over again.

-The writing style is addictive and it was very easy to fly through the book.

-Zarrah was a great character and pretty multi dimensional. I loved her growth throughout the book.

-The female narrator of the audiobooks was fantastic. I wish she would’ve just read the whole thing.

-The overall storyline. When the story was focused on moving the plot forward, I really enjoyed it. I felt like it was interesting without being too complex and wordy. There were lots of details and twists and turns without it being hard to follow. The writing is just pretty addictive.

Things I didn’t like:

-The almost instalove. They just fell real hard real fast and it went from 0 to 60 in no time. I just really really prefer a little more buildup and tension.

-The Uber focus on sexual thoughts in the strangest and most awkward times. (Spoilers) When someone is captured and their life is possibly on the line, it seems like you would care more about their safety and wanting to help them, than wishing that they were there so you could bury your …. in them. (End spoilers) This was a theme throughout the book and I swear the work c*ck was used no less than 20 times. (maybe it just felt like it). It’s just annoying when authors start a series with one thing, and gain an audience, and then they switch it to something else. Especially when it seemed forced, (and I would guess incredibly influenced by “spicy booktok”). At least it was annoying for me.

-Kerris (sp?) 😬 To be honest I had a love/hate relationship with him. He was honestly so annoying at times and so frustrating. It probably didn’t help that the male narrator’s voice was not great. I’m sure he will do some growing in the next installment, but geez he is not an easy guy to root for.

-And while we’re on the subject, the male narrator of the audiobook. I swear he sounded like he was announcing a NASCAR race. Which got super awkward when he was *announcing* the sex scenes. 😂😂😂 I usually like a female and male narrator when there are female and male POVs, but this really would’ve been better with just her… or a different guy.

-And another thing with the audiobook. This was produced by audible, so I really did expect it to be a little bit better. It had sound effects, but they were so random and some of them were so awkward. Like someone fell off a building and it just kept making the squishing sound over and over. It was so cringy. And at the beginning of each chapter it sounded like it was raining. Like why? How does that make any sense? Then it would just randomly throw a noise in here and there. It was just weird.

OVERALL

I did enjoy the book. I really do like the series as a whole. And I will be continuing it. I’m just a little disappointed.

Fabulous

The narrators were fire, the story was engrossing, I can’t wait for the sequel. It was new adult so a little steamy.

Distracting “WWII documentary” narration style

Performance: Summer Morton, the voice actor who did Zarrah’s chapters, was excellent!

But the male voice actor.. sounded like was narrating a WWII documentary. I literally LOL’d so many times because his news anchor narration made the characters sound so weird, and all the things they said sounded stupid as hell. 😂

Story: Felt a little like instalove. Kinda boring. Definitely not as good as Lara/Aren’s.

I LOVE THIS BOOK

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. The best next installment to the bridge kingdom! Keris is my newest bookish love and I cannot wait to see the rest of this adventure! Danielle Jensen just keeps writing some of the best action and adventure fantasy books out there

Wonderful Continuation

I very much enjoyed hearing Keris and Zarrah's story and learning more about the world DLJ built. This might be my favorite of the 3 books so far! Can't wait to hear the rest of their story.

Both narrorators were good but maybe not who I would of cast for these parts.

Worth a listen

I enjoyed this one but not as much as 1 & 2 - a little too much repetition though it was good to get some background to the story. I am looking forward to seeing how Danielle L Jensen wraps in up in the next book.

A New Perspective

while the other books so far have been Aren and Lara - this one is Cerys and Zara - and does overlap in the same timeframe. So although we know how this story was through other eyes this really fills in a lot of blanks and lends explanation too. This would have been a solid 5 stars for me except the sex scenes are just too much, insanely lengthy (boring too) and the story would not be affected if they just cut them out or kept to basic descriptions like most (non porn) books.

Would’ve preferred if it was just the female narrator

The male narrator was announcing everything he said.
He also would pronounce places differently.

Loved!!!

I really enjoyed The Bridge Kingdom and The Traitor Queen and was unsure if I would love this as much following different characters, but it was so good!!!!
I loved the characters so much and the book has so much tension and action from beginning to end, I can't wait for the next installment!

AMAZING

This is not the last book in the series!! This is however a new romance with the same war and settings. This is the forbidden romance between Zarrah and Kerris and their amazing story about both how they met, but also, how they overcame their upbringings to trust each other. Like I said before, this is not the last book in the series and does end on a cliffhanger which definitely leaves you wanting to read the next book as soon as possible… but you can’t!! I am so annoyed that the next book is not out yet to continue seamlessly with the story of Zarrah and Kerris. I do look forward to it though. Again, if you have gotten this far into the series, I would definitely recommend this book. I hope you find you love it just as much as the others. Enjoy!

Wonderful addition to the Bridge Kingdom series

This book is perfect for those who love fantasy romance with wonderful plot and characters.

It is a solid 5/5 for me, as the story is fast pacing and the love story is passionate and beautiful. I think it helps that I have already loved the world building in the original duology, and the story of Kerris and Zarrah is equally compelling, with them falling for each other without knowing that they are the heirs of two enemy kingdoms. Zarrah is an badass warrior who has a high sense of honor. Kerris, on the other hand, is complicated and morally grey. He runs away from his duties his whole life, just to embraces everything to fight for the woman he loves.

The political game and adventure are equally well written. Get into this series if you like fast paced action, cool world building, badass female characters and romance! Now I need to wait for Book 4!!

The narration is also beautifully done, bringing the story to life. Highly recommend.

Ok yes I’m here for Danielle Jensen!

I did enjoy the bridge kingdom, but it wasn’t my fave series, it lacked some of the spice and intelligence that I get from other series. This one was much more my vibe. I didn’t think I would like the characters but I did. You can really tell Danielle is developing her writing and I anticipate each book to get better and better, she’s one to watch for sure.
Also the narrators do an excellent job on this one, and I like how there’s some production on it, sound bites really make the difference to the atmosphere and I wish they would be used more on audible.
Overall, if you enjoyed her other works, you will love this. If you haven’t read her yet, this would be where I would start, even though it runs parallel to the initial series. Loved it.

No no no no no

I'm shattered, they said thete was 3 books in this series.
Well Danielle must be writing a 4th book because Although the storyline is complete the plotline isn't...consequently...CLIFFHANGER Grrrrr
I hate reading a series when there is no finish to the plot and now it looks like I will have to Stalk audible to make sure I don't miss the author's next book.
as For this book I definitely agree with the title as the hero frustrated me no end.
He was suppose to be the scholar and the thinker not the war monger.
But I found that he made I lot of silly mistakes by not thinking through his plans and I was totally frustrated with him and sometimes just wanted to smack him.
So I am still deciding whether I like him or not As heat did do a lot of damage to his heroine.
The story was cleverly written and the pace kept moving along and all the questions that 1 would ask in book 2 was revealed in this book.
The only question not answered was How the heroine was going to get out of her predicament and there in itself is the cliffhanger .
The Avenue in what could be the next book points back to Lara and kerris.
So frustrated that I read these books thinking there was only 3 when in actual fact the author has left it open for a 4th so I really hope she writes the 4th.
Loved the name writers and even though James Patrick Cronin Was not narrating this book. Michael did a great job.
So all in all I absolutely loved the political manoeuvres the mystery the romance the little bit of steam and the power play which is all congruent with royalty. All of this just seemed to make this book keep you page turning and now that there is a possibility of book 4 and Lara I really hope I find it.
Really loved audibles publishing/editing With the sounds being added for effect and in between chapters
