Publisher's Summary

It's the moment that Harmony Island has been waiting for: the reading of Charlotte Cane's will.

After I returned to my small hometown six months ago to attend my estranged grandmother's funeral, I swore I would never go back. That is, until my grandmother's lawyer calls me up. If I don't return to Harmony Island and fulfill my grandmother's stipulations, the generationally owned family inn will be turned over to the state and sold off to the highest bidder—my grandmother's rival and mother to the man who broke my heart, Missy Willis.

I'm not sure I'm strong enough to return home, but I also know, I can't let Miss Willis win. So I pack up my belongings and head for North Carolina.

I'm determined to stay distant, living in the small cottage next to the inn, and keep my head down. But in a small town where everyone knows your name, that becomes difficult. Soon, my past catches up with me, and I'm faced with the history I've buried for so long. Just when I reach my breaking point, Miles, the single dad living at the inn, swoops in to my life to rescue me. He was my protector in my childhood, my enemy in my teenage years, and now?

Now, I'm not so sure. Especially when his love for his daughter is contagious, or the way he looks at me when he doesn't know I see him. I'm so confused, and I want to run away like I did in the past, but I can't. And when Miles touches me like that...I don't want to.

Luckily, I find a friend in Abigail, the local bookstore owner. She's one of the only residents who doesn't know about my past and seems to be looking for the same thing I am, a place to belong.

The Inn on Harmony Island is chock full of romance, redemption, and forgiveness. If you're looking for your next summer story, grab your copy today! It is the first book in the Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series and ends on a cliff-hanger.

Misleading Advertisement on Instagram

Seen an add for this on instagram. Very misleading as to the story line of the book.
1. I don’t feel like the narrator was a good fit for this book. Her pronunciation of “s” and “t” made it difficult for me to listen to.
2. I feel like parts of the story from the beginning just got left to the way side. What happened to the football player? The photos that were suppose to make her relevant on the wedding planner scene?
3. I feel like all the women in this book extremely over exaggerate their feelings. 10 minutes to explain that his touch gave her butterflies and made her feel excited.

Just trying to leave an honest review. I will probably listen to the second book whenever it comes out. But I have my fingers crossed that the narrator is different and that the story line picks up more.

The heroine Shelby is a career helpless victim....

I will start with saying I did not finish I made it 9 chapters in. And every interaction that Shelby had, even just driving down Main Street of the town she grew up in she had to give herself a peptalk that she was strong enough and she could handle it. She could face her past. Every time she responded to her former stepbrother she had to make sure her voice didn't tremble. He is the villian to her... blah blah blah he ruined her relationship.
The Inn broke her. This is one of those weak women it's hard to like. You just wanna tell her to put on he big girl panties or stop playing it the adult work.
The only area that I actually felt For her was her work situation.

I'm trying not to give details but I just don't have a lot of free time. And I can't see myself wasting it finishing the book with the main female lead that is really hard to sympathize and like. To me she came across is very pathetic and being a professional victim. There were also portions that felt repetitive. Every woman when she meets an attractive man feels a bit swoony the way she reacts.
Of the 3 women that have that have been introduced so far. Shelby, Abigail, And Abigail's sister I can't remember her name. They're not very strong women I take that back Abigail seems interesting, and seems to have a bit more grit.

I'm not giving up on this Author but this one wasn't a hit for me. I only have a couple of free hours a week between between 2 full time jobs and a one year old, I will be asking for a refund on this audible credit because I want not finish this.

wasn't what I expected

I originally ordered the book because of snip-it the author posted on tik tok. But I still really enjoyed it! How could she end it like that ughhh! Now I have to wait till the next book. Hopefully that's soon.

I will admit I was confused by the multiple character story lines within the story. And I couldn't quite catch on to any major character development. But also keep in mind it is a short book and I imagine and hope with book 2 that it all ties together.ill admit I was confused by the multiple character story lines within the story. Drags

Good story line, but needs action, liveliness. I couldn’t even finish listening to audiobook. Hope I can get a refund.

Pre-teen drama

The sappiest book I have ever listened to. I tried to return it but couldn’t. I sure would like that credit back. I’m sure the narrator tried but her voice and pitch only made it worse. Finally, it’s over only to hear that this disaster is to be continued. No thanks, I’m out. Save yourself.

Step-sibling romance?!

The "dad next door" is actually her step-brother. Waste of time if you think keeping it in the family is strange. For more than one reason, this story was misrepresented in the description. VERY disappointing!

Just right

This book was a fantastic find! I was just thinking how I wanted a book that wasn’t “Not to Hot” in one book, and how I wanted a story of more than one couple. This book delivered!

Strange for no reason.

This book was an odd one. The "stories" are ok but it was written in a strange way. The book followed two woman and a man(not a thrupple). I just don't understand what the author was trying to do. Shelby (the one woman the book was about) had way more of a story line then Abigail (the other woman the book was about).

Had the author just made a book about Shelby she could have lead in to the second book being about Abigail(i honesrly felt like Abigail's story would be better). but instead the author decided to make a sorta confusing book for no reason that was left on a cliffhanger.

There was only one female narrator who played three separate voices. One of which were male character. This kinda took me out of the autio-book experience. Her voice was nice over all.it wasn't all breathy or harsh like other narrators I've heard.

I am no author as you can gather from this review. it was an ok story but I would have been pretty annoyed if I bought this book and not known ahead of time What I was in for.

Very slow burn

incredibly slow burn to get to the outcome, could have done with different narrators for characters.

over all nice :)

didn't mind it, first it was hard with the voice reading the book. I read few pages of the actual book and I did not visualise main character to be like this...

too much mentioning of "my past" was a bit irritating.

nice plot, not enough spice though 🤷‍♀️

thanks
