Story
One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

Every salesperson must endure many NOs in order to get to YES. Objections don't care or consider: who you are, what you sell, how you sell, or if you are new to sales or a veteran. For as long as salespeople have been asking buyers to make commitments, buyers have been throwing out objections. And, for as long as buyers have been saying no, salespeople have yearned for the secrets to getting past those NOs. People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

The Introvert Advantage dispels common myths about introverts - they’re not necessarily shy, aloof, or antisocial - and explains how they are hardwired from birth to focus inward, so outside stimulation such as chitchat, phone calls, parties, or office meetings can easily become "too much". Most importantly, it thoroughly refutes many introverts’ belief that something is wrong with them. Instead, it helps them recognize their inner strengths - their analytical skills, ability to think outside the box, and strong powers of concentration.

Publisher's Summary
BookAuthority Best Sales Audiobooks of All Time
BookAuthority Best Introvert AudioBooks of All Time
An introvert? Great at sales? Yes.
Sales is a skill anyone can learn and master - and introverts are especially good at it once they learn how to leverage their natural strengths.
Introverts aren't comfortable with traditional tactics like aggressively pushing a product or talking over a customer's objections. That's the beauty of The Introvert's Edge: it doesn't focus on the sale itself but on a sales system that helps introverts feel sincere instead of sales-y. Powerful and practical, the book reveals how to:
- Find natural confidence
- Prepare for every situation
- Present your value so that customers want to buy
- Sidestep objections
- Judge when the customer's ready to buy
- Ask for the sale - without asking
- Continually adapt and improve
- Profit from a process that doesn't rely on personality
- Enjoy sales
With stories of introverted entrepreneurs, salespeople, and business owners who went from stagnant to success, The Introvert's Edge shows you how to succeed in sales - without changing who you are.

Relates to me perfectly
Just in the first chapter alone Matthew uses the power of story to relate to exactly where I have been with sales as well as where I am currently.
As an introverted musician who has been afraid of sales I can say without a doubt this is one of the most pragmatic books I’ve ever come across in years.
I think it would be in the best interest of any artist or musician to give this book a read or in this case a listen.
I can’t wait to apply the principals Matthew expounds up to my life as well as my future as a working professional in the music education business!

Not related to introverts
This was a typical scammy sales book. It claims it’s for introverts who don’t like to lie and deceive. Then it proceeds to teach the most scammy old school sales techniques like “assuming the close.” The author recommends that you don’t actually ask a prospect if they want to buy, but instead ask them to to get their wallets so you can begin filling out the paperwork (simplified summary). I’m not sure what this had to do with introverts, and I will not be taking any of these tips.

Fantastic!
I just finished this book and now I’m going to go back and read it again- er, I’m going to go back and listen to it again and again....
I’ve always thought I was extroverted and could wing it at a sales call. I’m not successful at sales, though, and have always wondered why. I’ve thought my lack of success caused my inhibition to continue. Let me tell you what I’ve learnt from this book:
I’m an introvert. The part that’s extroverted isn’t strong enough to depend on.
I can be wildly successful at sales. I really enjoy selling when I know what I’m doing. Currently I represent a nation-wide coop which offers business members the possibility to save thousands of dollars each year with their services. As the owner of a small coffee shop, every penny I save counts. And the million+ members I can advertise to for pennies per year is beyond a good deal. Obviously I’ve drunk the Koolaide and loved it! You’d think I’d be their number one sales person. Nope. Not even close.
I have more than hope for my sales future. While I’m listening again, I’ll be putting his processes into my memory and writing the parts I’ll tailor to my needs. I expect to be in a new tax-bracket by this time next year.
Buy the book. Even if you know you’re an extrovert, perhaps you could help your introverted colleague.

I Am Sold..!
Who would have thought anybody could sell the idea I - confessed introvert - could get to like Sales..? Well, Matthew, Derek and Jamie made this happen.
This is a great guide for startups, blossoming entrepreneurs, and any professional who loves helping others, but has hesitation (or dread) of sales keeping those who need that help away.
Introvert traits that might make us feel a bad fit for selling our service, our skills (like for career promotion) or products are actually what makes us a perfect fit. My favorite takeaway is that Sales is not that snake oil thing. Actually, it is all about helping others. Price is more an afterthought, a deserved compensation for value added.
This book is wholeheartedly recommended. I read through it in one day, and will come back to the concise advice, regularly!

Proof that frogs can outsell princes
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The author isn't a professor publishing theories. He's not a corporate desk-jockey who hasn't worn out his shoes on the streets. He was desperate kid who had the grit to keep making belly-to-belly cold calls and experimenting until he learned what makes people buy. He discovered a repeatable process that worked--and transformed from an awkward, desperate kid into a sales champion.
This book reveals his method for making people eager to become your customer--even if you aren't the belle of the ball. It's a method that has proven to work for those of us who haven't been cursed with with movie star looks and A-list connections. Pollard PROVES that sales ability depends on skills and processes--not personality and luck.

Distinctly average
Ended like a freight train hitting a brick wall. guess he ran out of content. I'm not sure there was enough content in this book to clasify as a book. all techniques have been covered in any other sales book. the introvert thing seems to be a niche sales angle as other than a short story on the authors life at the beginning there are little that directly relates to intreverts.

Displacing the myth that to succeed in sales you have to have the gift of the gab!
I would highly recommend this audible book to to anyone working in sales or to business people who have to engage with their potential customers in order to sell their services.
As an introvert myself and have worked in sales most of my life, Mathew has eloquently described the necessary stages of acquiring new business with out the need to be pushy.
This book has made me proud to call myself an introverted salesman.

Really found this book useful
I'm a high Introvert working in business and consultancy and have always struggled with doing sales calls. I could muster the required amount of energy to do presentations, but the initial reaching out to cold or even warm prospects and then the closing phase of the process used to be excruciating.
I was delighted to be recommended Pollard's book by a colleague in sales. This book really opened my eyes and gave me great examples and insights how to do sales as an Introvert - while being myself and get great results. So far, after adjusting my process, my closing rate has gone way up and my stress about it all has gone way down.
The Introvert's Edge was recommended to me with good reason and I happily recommend it to any Introvert in business, sales, coaching, or consultancy.

Stpp undervaluing yourself and grow your business
Absolutely fantastic book - not just for introverts - but for anybody looking to refine their sales techniques and understand their clients needs better. I've learnt so much about how to package up my services and deliver them in a non salesy manner to ensure that I meet my clients needs and provide them value, whilst not undervaluing my own unique skills. One of the most informative books I've read in a very long time. I'll continue reading this book as a reference book for years to come.

Feels like an Extrovert is praying on Introverts
Train wreck. I just had to keep listening, hoping it would get better. Nope disappointed all the way till the end.
The book seemed to be focussed more on ”How good is the author’s extroverted nature, who is trying to covertly act as a fellow introvert."
An Introvert wouldn't speak so excitedly about having pimples and a hard upbringing. It reads similar to a “look I made it book, instead of I’m here to help Introverts book"
Seems incongruent and self-fulfilling by the author.

Handy perspective for modivation
I really liked how Matthew, wrote this book. He has some interesting stories from his early beginnings to where he is today. It empowers those who have high anxiety and believe they will never make it in life. It's easy in this digital age for those who don't have natural charisma feel that they are disadvantaged. The Author's objective is for you to change that perspective and empower you to think differently.
However, the book did fall down the hole "I just used my magic script, and it worked!" for a bit of it. Which seems on the surface a grandmas family secret cookie recipe story. That was the only part that wasn't that good. But it meant well and eventually came to a conclusion higher than the purpose of the story.
All n all, it's a nice book to recommend to those who feel that they are stuck or introverted in a social society. And they can't get out of situation they are currently in. Hopefully this book inspires those, like myself to take some of the tips on board.

Loved every minute!
Loved this book! it helped me see past my introverted nature and showed me that I can sell too - even though it terrifies me. I'm going to listen to it again and this time develop my own sales process.

Amazing book for introverts.
I’m an INTJ, look it up if you don’t know.
Basically a robot and I’ve gone through it a few times and continue to do so.
