Sales is a skill anyone can learn and master - and introverts are especially good at it once they learn how to leverage their natural strengths. Introverts aren't comfortable with traditional tactics like aggressively pushing a product or talking over a customer's objections. That's the beauty of The Introvert's Edge: it doesn't focus on the sale itself but on a sales system that helps introverts feel sincere instead of sales-y.

Where can you find joy? Gain strength? How should we face our fears? Deal with the death of a loved one? And what about those reoccurring depressing thoughts? While traditional schooling doesn’t address such questions, it’s exactly what ancient schools of philosophy were all about: They taught you how to live. Even though these schools don’t exist anymore, you and I and most people are in as much need of a philosophy that guides us through life as we ever were. This compelling, highly actionable guide shows you how to deal more effectively with whatever life throws at you.

Take stock of your life: Based on your last 30 days of work (or marriage, or parenting), would your company rehire you? Would your partner immediately recommit to you? Would your children want you to continue to be their parent? The easy answer is, "Absolutely!" But it's probably not the honest answer. Your life might read like a success story, and your parents and friends might even think you have it all figured out, but you have a secret: You feel out of place in your own life. You'd rather binge-watch Netflix than think about what's next. You're living on autopilot.

It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

Publisher's Summary
One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all.
The truth is that when introverts are armed with a plan that lets them be their authentic selves, they make the best networkers.
Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking. A sequel to Pollard’s international bestseller The Introvert’s Edge: How the Quiet and Shy Can Outsell Anyone, this book masterfully confronts the stigma around the so-called extroverted arena of networking.
In The Introvert’s Edge to Networking, you’ll discover how to:
- Overcome your fear and discomfort when networking
- Turn networking into a repeatable system
- Leverage your innate introverted strengths
- Target and connect with top influencers
- Leverage the power of virtual and social networking
The introvert’s roadmap to success doesn’t look like the extroverts, we’re different and we should embrace that.
Whether you’re a small business owner struggling to make a living or a professional who’s hit a career plateau, The Introvert’s Edge to Networking is your path to a higher income and a rolodex of powerful connections.
Critic Reviews
"Matthew shows introverts how to turn networking from dreadful and pointless to profitable and valuable. Best of all, I have personally experienced how Matthew lives out the words in this book. I can say wholeheartedly that if you practice what this book teaches, you will grow and serve others like never before." (Tom Ziglar, CEO of Ziglar, Inc.)
"Matthew's guidance takes the concept of framework and standardization to the next level, offering a meaningful strategy that works in any room, for any introverted business professional." (Dr. Ivan Misner, founder of BNI and New York Times best-selling author)
"Matthew masterfully confronts the stigma around the so-called extroverted arena of networking, demonstrating that introverts have exactly what it takes to outshine everyone else in the room." (Derek Lidow, chair of the Entrepreneurship Faculty at Princeton University)

A Sequel Worth Waiting For!
When I, by chance, encountered Matthew’s first book, “The Introvert's Edge: How the Quiet and Shy Can Outsell Anyone” in a bookstore. I was intrigued (and somewhat skeptical) by the assertion made in the title. I was curious enough, however, to thumb through the book. I placed it back on the shelf, but not for long. I couldn’t leave it. I had to buy it! It was hard to put down. I read through it twice, as it spoke to my experiences like nothing else I’d previously read. When I discovered the audio book, it became a perennial listen.
I cannot tell you how pleased I was when it was announced the there would be a sequel, devoted to the subject of networking. I immediately pre-ordered the audiobook and began the process of waiting. January 19th, at midnight marked the release of the audiobook. It was worth the wait! The “magic” and freshness of the first book was all there, but this time Mathew applied it to his approach to networking and cultivating relationships.
Now that I’ve finished the audiobook, I can say that it was more than worth the wait. This is a, worthy successor. This new title expands on what was previously taught, and takes a deep dive into the unique ways of effectively networking as an introvert. I was also pleased that it not only covers face-to-face, but also deals extensively with the online networking that most of us are now pursuing.
Highly recommended!

The Missing Key
Hi, My name is Lara and I'm an introvert. I used to arrive with a friend and hide in the corner hoping not to actually talk to anyone. Until I listened to this book. I had read/listened to books by Brian Tracy and Zig Ziglar and Michael Port and more. I thought if I could just stay online and people would find me, I'd be ok. But I missed the key....You need to talk to real live people to ensure that your message resonates with your target. I'm off to listen to his first book and play around in his bonus material online. You probably won't see me at a networking event, but I know what I need to test.
Oh, but the book. The book is entertaining, well read, and full of useful information. I would pause, back it up, and take notes. I'll be listening again so I can stay motivated to learn to enjoy networking.

Read it, then read it again!
This book is the S***! If you're a logical and introvert person like me then this is the book for you. I'm a software engineer and cloud architect (or at least this is how I was categorizing myself) that is trying to get bigger clients. Somehow I knew certain techniques before reading the book but every time I tried to replicate them it wouldn't work out as planned and couldn't pinpoint the problem. Now I know what the techniques are, how they should be implemented, and what I did wrong when I failed. The author is not kidding, you can get results fast but in my case I already implemented some of his teachings with inconsistency. This was exactly what I needed and now I am I'm hungry for more.

A Great Help To Build Confidence!!
As an introvert, networking can be draining and it’s been hard to learn what to say to people. Matthew’s strategy for networking before networking has helped me prepare better for my meetings. I am asking better questions and having more positive response to my connection requests. The book is well written, expressively narrated, and is fun to listen to. I’m so grateful to have been introduced to Matthew’s work!

The Author is an Introvert? I Don't Think So
Introversion and Extroversion are on a spectrum. I recommend Susan Cain's book "Quiet" for an explanation, as well as a simple test you can take to see where you fall. I am an off the charts introvert. The behaviors Matthew Pollard recommends in this book and purports to do himself tell me that if he is an introvert, he's not very far on the spectrum. For example, he advises to initiate small talk with strangers at restaurants, bars, airports, etc., and brags about how much business he's gotten this way. He also claims that if you do research on attendees of networking events in advance (whether or not it's even possible to know who will be attending is another question altogether), then you won't feel like they're a stranger and so it won't be hard to initiate a conversation with them. I'm sorry, Matthew, but you don't even seem to understand what it means to be truly introverted. Those things are not happening in my world.
I'm not saying the techniques he advises won't work (thus two stars instead of one). They're just not any more helpful for introverts than any other books on the subject. I feel like the author is using "introvert" as a hook to sell to an audience eager for advice on how to grow their businesses while being true to who they are, and then just gives a bunch of the same ole, same ole advice you see everywhere else. Oh, and his ceaseless bragging about his own accomplishments and all the people he knows is tiresome.

Highly recommended for introverted business owners
As an introverted business owner and sales trainer, I can attest that every one of Matthew Pollard's steps for networking works. Although I consider myself a seasoned networker, I learned many new ways to approach functions that align with my values and personality.
Pollard breaks down his networking system step-by-step, providing a clear framework to follow. In addition, he has laced the book with success stories that flesh out the intstructions. Not only does this make the book an easier read - it provides tangible proof that the system can work for the reader!
I would highly recommend The Introvert's Edge to Networking for any business owner or sales professional. The lessons you will learn from this book could transform your career!

Amazing Resource
What an amazing Networking resource, especially for introverts like myself.
Networking is not something that comes naturally to me.
Matthew Pollard's step-by-step process takes us precisely but gently through an activity that all business people must do to survive, however for introverts we are extremely fearful to do.
A must-read for extroverts and introverts alike.
