AWOL on the Appalachian Trail is Miller’s account of this thru-hike from Georgia to Maine. Listeners are treated to rich descriptions of the Appalachian Mountains, the isolation and reverie, the inspiration that fueled his quest, and the rewards of taking a less conventional path through life. While this book abounds with introspection and perseverance, it also provides useful passages about hiking gear and planning.

At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Publisher's Summary
A man at a crossroads. A thousand-mile hike. A life forever changed.
Keith Foskett was the definition of restless. Drifting aimlessly, he knew a piece was missing from his life. But when a stranger in a Greek bar tells him about a world-famous pilgrim’s trail, the chance encounter sets Foskett’s life in a new 1,000-mile direction.
On El Camino de Santiago, the wanderer copes with extreme temperatures, fake faith healers, and insatiable kleptomaniacs. Threatened with arrest for "not sleeping" and suffering with excruciating blisters, Foskett pushes himself to new limits. Can he find what he’s looking for and make it to the other side?
Keith Foskett’s travelogues have been short-listed for Outdoor Book of the Year multiple times by The Great Outdoors magazine. Awash with vivid descriptions and a cast of engaging real-life characters, the author delivers a humorous and mesmerizing tale of adventure and metamorphosis.
The Journey in Between is a daring travel memoir. If you like indulging your inner adventurer, taking the less popular fork in the road, and visiting foreign locations, then you’ll love Keith Foskett’s transformative tale.
Pick up The Journey in Between to take your first step today.

This book will make you mad
If you have ever walked the Camino or are trying to plan a trip to walk the Camino, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK, especially as a guide to how you should behave. So much wonton disregard for Camino history and tradition. you sir are a thru hiker and that's fine but don't go on Camino and COMPLAIN the whole way about how its not made for hikers or it should change for you. Disgusted by your attitude!

This guy is a dramatic whiner
Don’t waste your time if you’re looking for an inspiring Camino pilgrimage. He whines and complains much of the way and makes it very well known that God is not a part of his life. I feel sad for him.
I can’t think of one situation or location that stood out to me during the entire book. It was not engaging.
Pass on it.

Great read!
I so enjoyed this walk on the Camino with fozzy. listened to it on trips back and forth to care for my aging parents. it passed the miles and the time with ease and left me feeling lifted, though I didn't walk the Camino myself. it's clean, it's fun, it's upbeat; you feel the pain and the joys that he experiences. It makes me want to walk the Camino as well. Bice job Fozzy! Thanks for sharing your adventure, the relationships you found, and, I enjoyed hearing about what came after as that is always part of the Walk. Glad to hear you're going to write another book about one of my own dreams, the PCT. Love the reader as wel,l he was great at differentiating the characters and keeping the pace of the Walk.

Such a great story but totally ruined by having the wrong style of narrator - it’s like having a public school boy practice his diction. I had to check it was actually a person and not a computer-generated voice - such a shame, it’s putting me off finishing it
