Story
Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Joy of Less: Yes, I'm judging you.
There are some good tips for reigning in the clutter in you life. However, if you're not a minimalist yet and you imagine them as judgy and self-important, this book will only confirm that. While I did take away some good tips on reducing what I own and consuming less, the author came across as both condescending and ridiculous at times. For example, if your hobby is woodworking, that requires a lot of stuff. So give up that hobby and write poetry instead, so you can get rid of your woodworking equipment. She also seems to think every woman is a label whore who runs to the mall every time a new shade of lipstick comes out. One thing I dislike about minimalist books and blogs is that they seem to push the idea that interiors must be white, modern, and stark to minimalistic. This book definitly adheres to that aesthetic. Also, I hate the word module now. In short, good tips yet vaguely annoying and judgy.

Definitely worth a read!
Great narrator. I really liked this book. Sometimes the writer got a bit preachy, and while I wholly agree with most of her points sometimes it got a bit redundant and I wished she would just move on and get off the soap box. I will firstly admit that it could be because I am far along in my minimalist/zero waste/zero impact journey, I have heard a lot of her points before, which could explain why I got more frustrated when she wouldn't move on than someone else might have been. To someone who is new to it all it is very informative and worth a read/listen. Very life changing and a new way to think about our lives today that is so meaningful.

Top 3 Minimalism Books
I've read many many books on simplifying, minimalism, and conscious living. The Joy of Less is definitely one of the more impactful reads, as it supplies reasoning and logic to back up your decision-making when embarking on a less cluttered lifestyle. Whether your aim is to become an extreme minimalist, find ways to be more environmentally friendly, or simply pare down your possessions and organize, I highly recommend this book!

A hardcore How to, Not a story
This is a How to book. It's pretty hardcore on how to minimize your possessions. It's flexible and shows you what an ideal minimalist life is like. The reader doesn't need to go to the extreme but should know what it looks like. there are a lot of great ideas and tips to get started. I was expecting a story but this was just as useful non the less.

Rich content and soothing narration
Loads of content that goes beyond minimizing material belongings and into the underlying motivations of our lives. Yet it weaves it all seamlessly and doesn't feel overstuffed. Even better than Kondo's books, IMHO (which were also good a read), but the two can go well together. I have gone back to several chapters multiple times and taken what's most relevant for me at any given stage.

disappointing and misleading
I am deeply disappointed in this book. The author can't seem to get past the whole "situational guilt"thing, and it seems to have gone wrong. being a minimalist in a developed country does absolutely nothing for poverty anywhere else. the idea that you have somehow done something virtuous for the poor by cleaning out your closet, or better organizing your kitchen is silly. It also seems too very much be geared toward people who have more money than they know how to manage. the majority of people are not continuously spending money to get more and more and more designer clothes, they are not buying a 2nd 3rd 5th or 12th car, they are not buying closets full of art. I was honestly looking for a book with smart, cost effective, and creative ways to organize and store the things I do have in The Limited space I have to work with, which are by and large things that I need to keep because I either use them on a regular basis or will not be able to replace them when the rare occasion comes up that I do need them. all in all the message of the book is not to act so affluent, which doesn't really help anybody who has a lower income and already has less than the average American. I listen to more than an hour of this book, and I really tried to give it a chance. I just can't, in good conscience, waste anymore of my time. It's even more precious than space.

Good if first
It is not my first read about minimalism and decluttering and maybe this is one of the reasons I found it somehow boring. Even though stated at the beginning that it is different than other books - it is not. This is not area of millions of techniques, minimalism and declutter are very simple ways to live and the only problem is with our attachment to things. I found this book very repetitive. I headed to Miss Minimalist website to find something else but all I found were stories of other people, not related at all to what Miss Minimalist does herself. I recommend this book for people who are only starting and this is their first read on this subject.

A great book with important life lessons for everybody , some of which I have come to already. One small critique, written with a female reader in mind, with the odd nod to the guys. Men need to look closely at the issues raised by this book just as much as the ladies.
A great place to start to look at how consumerism is wreaking your life. and how to avoid some of the common mistakes.

contradictory at times but some useful ideas
this is written from a place of privilege the author suggests alot of getting rid of items and renting items instead- they assume the reader has money to rent dresses/appliances/tools. There were a lot of useful tips at the beginning of the book but the last few chapters contradict the "joy of less" when she talks about saving takeaway containers/glass jars etc and not letting them be recycled. an okay listen but contradictory x

Brilliant
I absolutely loved this book. I've read lots about minimalism but this touch on topics that inspired me to stay the course. And although I'm not sure I'll ever be that minimal and I live with a hoarder.... Aaarrrggghhh.... the authors message really touched me and met my beliefs and how I would like to live.

Great book. Very helpful if you are on the journey towards minimalism
I found this book helpful and motivating. With many practical ideas. I also found the narrators voice a joy to listen to. She has a calming tone.

ok
Most of the books content is common sense. Didn't get much out of it. Easy listen though

Honestly, just boring!
Not motivational at all like other minimalism/decluttering books. A lot of time spent describing hypothetical situations. Just fluff. No real substance. Boring.
