Publisher's Summary

Ken Follett’s The Key to Rebecca took fans and critics by storm when first published 40 years ago. Today, it remains one of the best espionage novels ever written.

A brilliant and ruthless Nazi master agent is on the loose in Cairo. His mission is to send Rommel’s advancing army the secrets that will unlock the city’s doors. In all of Cairo, only two people can stop him. One is a down-on-his-luck English officer no one will listen to. The other is a vulnerable young Jewish girl....

WWII in Egypt, a spy, and a love story.

This story is a great escape to the past. A tale of old spy craft , bold women and daring men fighting to save the world. Provides historical context and a picture of the world before it went ditgal.

Certainly not The Eye of the Needle

I regret buying this book. It’s not badly written, performance okay but just wasn’t good. It wasn’t awful just lacked action and intrigue unless you count the kinky S & M sex which I despised. Waste of a credit.

Another great Ken Follett thriller

A terrific story terrifically read. Wonderful from start to finish. Every bit as good as The Eye of the Needle. Don’t miss it!

Helps pass the time at the gym.

The story has an interesting premise: Set in Cairo around 1942 and involving the battles for North Africa, the story invoves a battle of wits and violence between a spy providing information to the German's about England's strategy for the next battle and the English officer trying to catch or kill him. But the story has too few events and too many kinky sex etc. fillers.

boring and illogical

probably one of worst book by usually entertaining author. starting from the mid-book and going through chain of events which do not have sense, you are thinking: when will it finish?

Not Ken Follett's best work

I'm a huge Ken Follett fan, but this story was a bit formulaic for me.
