Publisher's Summary

The follow-up to Erin Sterling’s New York Times bestselling hit The Ex Hex features fan favorite Gwyn and the spine-tinglingly handsome Wells Penhallow as they battle a new band of witches and their own magical chemistry.

Gwyn Jones is perfectly happy with her life in Graves Glen. She, her mom, and her cousin have formed a new and powerful coven; she’s running a successful witchcraft shop, Something Wicked; and she’s started mentoring some of the younger witches in town. As Halloween approaches, there’s only one problem—Llewellyn “Wells” Penhallow.

Wells has come to Graves Glen to re-establish his family’s connection to the town they founded as well as to make a new life for himself after years of being the dutiful son in Wales. When he opens up a shop of his own, Penhallow’s, just across the street from Something Wicked, he quickly learns he’s gotten more than he bargained for in going up against Gwyn.

When their professional competition leads to a very personal—and very hot—kiss, both Wells and Gwyn are determined to stay away from each other, convinced the kiss was just a magical fluke. But when a mysterious new coven of witches come to town and Gwyn’s powers begin fading, she and Wells must work together to figure out just what these new witches want and how to restore Gwyn’s magic before it’s too late.

Not quite Ex-Hex worthy

I loved the first book so much, and really wanted to love this one. The narration was so awful on the Welsh characters I almost had to stop listening and return it. It’s an ok plot line, but I suggest reading over listening.

Better in Print

Narration killed it, probably would’ve been better in print. I read another review that said the Welsh accents were bad, but bought it anyway thinking it would probably be fine. It wasn’t fine. The Welsh accents were the worst, but I don’t think the narrator got any of the other character’s voices right either.

distracting voice actor

the voice actor is kind of distracting and the story really moves a bit too slow for me. I loved the Ex Hex and hoped I would like this one but... it's a bit meh. I may pick this back up later and actually read it.

Couldn’t stand the voice actor

First half took a lot out of me.

If I had checked this out of the library, I wouldn’t have finished it. The only reason I did was because the Libby app doesn’t work in airplane mode unless you were already listening to a book. I needed something to listen to on my flight from Amsterdam to Istanbul.

Second half of the book has all the action and is pretty good.

Better than the Ex Hex

Pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed this romance and plot much more than the prequel, Ex Hex.

While I found Gwyn to be a little bratty in Ex Hex, she was a strong, witty lead in this book. Very entertaining and her connection with Wells was hot and believable.

Perfect book to read with Halloween approaching!

Fun October read

After reading all the glorious reviews involving author Erin Sterling’s “The Ex Hex” I decided to get on this October “witchy” read bandwagon. I got the audio of her new novel “The Kiss Curse”. It started slow for me, but thank The Goddess it improved.

This is a silly rom/com with magical and witchy embellishment. There are competing magic shops, spells, witchery and a bit of black magic in the town of Gravesglen.

This story is a bit “steamy” in places. A bit too steamy for me, but not a distraction. It’s a cute story that takes place in October right before Halloween. It got me in the mood, so of…

The audible audio is. Narrated by Shannon McManus.

Cute

The story is predictable but very cute. A great cute love story for fall. Also, the narrator is spot on.

Liked this romance more than first book

I really liked Gwen and Wells' story. I can also see a spin-off for the Baby Witches crew. I was glad to see some closure with her former girlfriend and guest spots with Ex Hex characters. The Welsh narration was nonexistent, but otherwise I could usually tell who was speaking.

Different Narrator 😭

I LOVED the Ex Hex audiobook, and immediately purchased this one the second I finished. I wish I’d have paid attention because the narrator changed and unfortunately, I am not a fan of Shannon McManus. I listened to her narrate another book “Queen Bee” by Dorothea Benton Frank and she’s just not my cup of tea. It totally ruined my fun that they’ve changed the narrator. Why!

Great!

I was worried that the book wouldn't stack up to the first but after listening I realized that wasn't the case at all! Great story that expanded on the town of Gravesglen!
