Publisher's Summary

The daughters of beloved teacher Wayne Dyer share their ever-evolving understanding of their father’s timeless teachings.

“This book is our song for our father and for everyone, because we’re all born with a Knowing - an inner compass, the quiet urgings of our soul that guide us. It is through giving love, offering kindness, and paying attention that we can return to our Knowing.” (Saje Dyer and Serena Dyer Pisoni)

To millions of readers and listeners around the world, Dr. Wayne Dyer was the beloved “Father of Motivation” - but to Serena, Saje, and their six siblings, he was simply “Dad”. When he died suddenly in 2015, the sisters were blindsided by grief and felt unprepared to navigate life’s challenges and conflicts without his guidance.

The experience launched them on an adventure from loss to understanding as they came to realize and metabolize their father’s teachings with a new urgency, intimacy, and power as they applied them to their lives. As their journey unfolded, they realized their father’s wisdom - “The Knowing” - was embedded in their DNA...as it is for all of us.

“We didn’t discover The Knowing,” share the authors. “We simply returned to it.”

In The Knowing, Saje and Serena share how they recommitted to the teachings of their father and, in doing so, created their own evolution of his principles that they teach today. They share the 11 lessons that cracked them open and sparked their own spiritual journey, including:

  • Parented in Pure Love - the joys, surprises, and gifts of growing up in the Dyer family
  • How the Soul Remembers - how to become a host for miracles instead of a hostage to circumstance
  • Take Your Shoes Off - bringing stillness to the mind to open your heart to guidance
  • The Geometry of Forgiveness - change your life and the lives around you with a simple prayer
  • Especially Love - how to always return to love, kindness, and receptivity

The Knowing is a book for seekers young and old, for fans of Wayne Dyer’s work and newcomers alike. Here is a profound and loving guide to lead you back - in crisis, in joy, or in this present moment - to the wellspring of wisdom that always dwells within.

Critic Reviews

The Knowing is a profound book that will strengthen your spiritual faith. Serena and Saje remind us that choosing to perceive the world through the lens of love is the gentle approach to life. I'm deeply proud of their commitment to being the voice for their father, channeling his wisdom in their own unique ways.” (Gabrielle Bernstein, number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Universe Has Your Back)

“Returning to the inspirational teachings of their father, Dr. Wayne Dyer, after his death, Serena Dyer Pisoni and Saje Dyer share a deep personal story using poignant reflections integrated with the wisdom and spiritual understanding they received from their parents. This launched them on a journey back to ‘the Knowing,’ which brought a deep connection and a realization that this knowing was always present. Rich and rewarding; a must read.” (Anita Moorjani, New York Times best-selling author of Dying to Be Me and What if This Is Heaven

“This book is a testament to the power of love. Serena and Saje have so eloquently embodied their father's teachings and have made them relevant and accessible to today’s spiritual seeker. As a father myself, I can’t help but feel pride on behalf of my dear friend Wayne Dyer to see his daughters’ beautiful approach to stepping into his shoes.” (Tony Robbins, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Money and Unshakeable)

The authors did a huge disservice reading the book

Serena huffs and puffs throughout. It’s barely listenable. Huge disservice. The parts Sage reads saves it.

Wayne Would Approve!

As a fan of Wayne Dyer, I appreciated this spiritual memoir by two of his daughters, Saje Dyer and Serena Dyer Pisoni. I particularly enjoyed how they interwove stories about their family relationships that demonstrated how they all grappled with living the values and mindset that Wayne taught. I appreciated their authenticity and openness in relating their personal struggles, and it was reassuring to know that even the man himself struggled at times to live those values and fell into depression during hard times. I was delighted by the anecdotes about his cheerful and encouraging parenting, and I loved learning about Wayne and third wife Marcelene's unconventional marriage as well as their unusually free approach to child-rearing.

If you're already a Dyer fan/follower as I am, you'll likely find the spiritual guidance offered to be pretty rudimentary. In that respect, this book would be great for someone who is relatively new to Wayne Dyer's teachings; however, that individual might not enjoy the memoir aspects as much as someone who is already a follower. In my mind, that makes the target audience a little murky, though I do recognize the value in hearing again what you already know.

I withheld the last star because of two aspects of the performance. First, Saje Dyer starts off in a soporific, somewhat robotic monotone, as if she weren't talking about her own experience. Serena speaks more naturally, as if she's having a relaxed conversation with the reader. About a third of the way in, Saje seems to get into a groove, and her reading improves. More distracting than Saje's performance was the way they chose to write and then narrate the book. Most of the story is told in the third person, and the sisters alternate, reading their own sections. To be clear, Saje refers to herself in the third person, "Saje was feeling..." and Serena does the same. The unnaturalness of this approach at first confused me--I thought the sisters were reading about one another--and then became distracting. There are a few places where the writing lapses into first person accounts, and in my opinion, those were the most enjoyable, effective segments. I wish they had written the entire book in the first person. It would have been simple enough to title sections "Saje" or "Serena" to let the reader know who was talking. The decision to do it the way they did was rather peculiar and detracted from my enjoyment of the book and my withholding of one star.

All in all, I'm glad I read this book, and I recommend it, though it might be more enjoyable to read than to listen to.

Closure.

I am a long time listener to Wayne Dyer and in a weird way I feel like I already knew his children because he spoke of them so often in his books. His death shook me to my core. This book gave me so much closure and opened my eyes even more to what’s beyond this world. I know he is beyond proud of his girls for carrying on his teachings…

Loved listening to this audio book. I couldn't stop hearing it. Very genuine feelings shared by the 2 sisters. Got a feel of Dr Wayne W Dyer as well through this book. Got my questions answered regarding Dr Wayne W Dyers death as well. I love his books. Looking forward to more books by these sisters.

easy listen, profound messages

Narration lacked variety in tone but the content made the listening compelling and the listen well worthwhile. not only was it packed with great learnings but it also gave a wonderful insight into a beautifully way of raising a family.

beautiful

A truly beautiful listen and insight in to family life and how it goes on without the physical presence of the people who made it wonderful. It is a reminder to keep moving forward and to remember all the lessons we have learnt...to have knowing that everything happens for a reason.

Helps you believe in miracles

Thank you Saje and Serena Dyer (and your parents ) for all the stories,
reflections, quotes and input into this beautiful book that, for me, has inspired confidence, whilst actual visual signs etcetera, are yet to
manifest in the technicolour ways I hope to align myself to receiving.

I have listened to much material from Saje and Serena’s esteemed father Wayne Dyer, and I’m going to go straight back to the beginning and re-listen to this. It will be used to bolster and support a hopeful flowering of what their titularly dubbed ‘knowing’ espouses: that we are here to receive good and can allow that in through the simplest yet also highly challenging art of trust, surrender, yielding and allowing to that which can, especially in the midst of deep personal suffering (or a mind at war with the inexplicable suffering present in this world,) so often seem, as far-fetched as believing all of life is ‘rainbows and butterflies.’

The shared, and humble teachings, stumblings and returns to ‘knowing’ that life can be packed with joy, peace and goodness, is not a message that Saje and Serena equate with suggesting that every aspect of life wafts along in a bright rainbow-lit arc. Potentially it could be interpreted that way, but that would mean the listener had not heard the depth of their lightly framed messages.

I look forward to hearing more from Wayne’s
prodigious progeny. I know his daughter Sommer is writing her own book and will keep an ear out for more content from Saje and Serena who’s unusual, almost exclusively third person way of speaking of their experiences, is highly accessible and easy to listen to.

Review all the way from Ireland😊🍀

I feel I have been brought on a journey, this book makes you look at your own life and death in depth and you really do become in awe of your own sense of darma and those around you. It makes you realise we all have have our battles and we all have good times too, but its how we centre ourselves with whats going on around us and how we when we bring ourselves back to ourselves - thats when things work out for us. Oh and “let go and let god” is an important message in this book. I laughed and cried with the girls as they told their very personal journeys, luckily I had sun glasses on in the park listening to this audio book, as I was moved on so many occasions, on so many levels, no one could see my sad at times, but mostly happy tears. Well done girls, you should be proud, own it, bask in it, you deserve it! Thank You🍀 xx.

Caught Me By Surprise

I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I knew of its existence on its release but didn't imagine the daughters could be any match for the content and narrations of Wayne. But, oh boy, was I wrong.

Saje, Serena, this has to be one of the finest audio books I have listened to so far. So many take aways, emotional, joyous, elements of great surprise. I think it covered all bases for me and I'm quite determined to listen to it again and again.

Thank you for bring this to me and I will be eternally grateful for all the messages.

Please continue your fathers path, not in his shadow but holding light to your own experiences and messages.

Stunning account of growing up Dyer

This was a magnificent book on finding self-love and inner peace. Both Saje and Serena Dyer’s stories on coping with difficult challenges in their lives offering insights on how they address fear and adversity with love and kindness resonated deeply. I really appreciated how they were able to mobilize difficult situations with drawing on inner peace and enjoying the moment rather than trying to predict the uncertainties of our future. Highly recommend this book for all and more specifically extraordinary lessons that we can offer to our own children to support autonomous growth.
