Story
The history of the tablets translated in the following book is strange and beyond the belief of modern scientists. Their antiquity is stupendous, dating back some 36,000 years. The writer is Thoth, an Atlantean Priest-King, who founded a colony in ancient Egypt after the sinking of the mother country. He was the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, erroneously attributed to Cheops. In it he incorporated his knowledge of the ancient wisdom and also securely secreted records and instruments of ancient Atlantis.

Story
A must-listen for the progressive mind, The Kybalion: A Study of the Hermetic Philosophy of Ancient Egypt and Greece was originally published under the pen name, Three Initiates, in 1908. It claims to have been based on the philosophy of Hermeticism, which became influential to the development of the New Age of Thought in the early 1900s. It is very similar to the advice offered by the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. The book is devoted to exploring seven principles centered around mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, causation and effect, and gender.

Story
Alan W. Watts' "message for an age of anxiety" is as powerful today as it was when this modern classic was first published. We spend too much time trying to anticipate and plan for the future, too much time lamenting the past. We often miss the pleasures of the moment in our anxious efforts to ensure the next moment is as enjoyable. Drawing from Eastern philosophy and religion, Watts argues that it is only by acknowledging what we do not and cannot know that we can find something truly worth knowing.

Story
The Emerald Tablet of Hermes & Kybalion compose two pillars of Hermetic thought. Combined here in one volume, these two works share true wisdom with those ready to receive it. The Kybalion was first published anonymously in 1908 by “The Three Initiates.” The true authorship of the work is unknown, although theories suggest it was written entirely or in part by William Walker Atkinson. The Emerald Tablet of Hermes is a short, ancient text attributed to Hermes Trismegistus. The brief Emerald Tablet has been puzzling and fascinating scholars for over 1,000 years.

The Kybalion is probably the most controversial spiritual work of the 20th century. Its teachings are based on the works of Hermes, an ancient Egyptian philosopher. Like Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Socrates, and a few other philosophical and religious founders, Hermes is said to have received his knowledge in a vision during a period of deep concentration.

Publisher's Summary
He was the father of the occult, the founder of astrology, the discoverer of alchemy. He was Hermes Trismegistus, and as the scribe of the gods of ancient Egypt, he possessed all divine knowledge... which he passed on to humanity, though only those who have been tutored in its wonders can fully understand it.In this extraordinary 1912 book, three secret initiates to his teachings - who remain anonymous to this day - share their insight with all who seek to understand the mysterious underpinnings of the universe and our relationship with it.
An appreciation of Hermeticism, as the basis of all paranormal philosophies still studied today, is an absolute must for anyone fascinated by magic, the supernatural, and the wisdom of the ancients.

Big bites of ancient (now age?) wisdom to chew on
This book covers a lot of territory - consciousness, dimensions, physics, science, nature, natural law (Universe, Earth, Human), behavior, mental abilities, responsibility, integrity, and much more.
For someone interested in spiritual development, there's food for thought here. Strangely, I wasn't expecting so much that is relevant today in physics and science to be part of ancient teachings. Interesting.

Game changer for the true seeker of knowledge
Many of the concepts of the hermetic teachings given in this book are those that instinctually we all know already. Though over the course of our lives we are but mere manifestations of our environment on every level... Biologically, philosophically, psychologically and most importantly.... Mentally. What this book will give you is the key to understanding the different aspects of all these things in your life and the other lives around you. You will see the unconscious made manifest in every being and its environment. You will see then, the incredible power you wield once you not only grasp this concept but also implement the transmutation of the underlying laws that drive these outward manifestations within yourself.

Where does The Kybalion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Number one, the beginning, the preeminent
Which character – as performed by Mitch Horowitz – was your favorite?
Hermes , of course
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely, and I did
Any additional comments?
With so much interest in New Age directives to address contemporary maladies, this beautifully presented ancient wisdom simply cuts through the rhetoric heavy, fairly recent yet popular watered down versions of this venerable classic.

the universe in a nutshell
it pretty much explains the universe in a few pages which is pretty awesome. i can link it a lot to The Way of The Superior Man by David Deida when it speaks about polarity and gender and masculine and feminine poles. i LOVED the way it talked about colors and energy and vibrations. it will be a beneficial book depending on what your experiences are at the moment and at what stage of life you're in. at 20 years old i probably would have fallen asleep if this book was handed to me. now older i felt i could relate based on experience. i experienced a lot of "ahha!" moments. great book to refer back to. then it finished off by teaching the diff between the Me and the I and how to use like some sort of meditative practice to become more in touch with the self.

A bit like reading The book of Revalation
To compare this to Revelation is because of its complexity not the content. This is a hard book to read and I have gone though it three times now and will go back to it. Fortunately it's not long. However the information within is priceless and requires much contemplation.
I marked it down because of the complexity. That's no ones fault it's just big stuff to get your head round. The narrator did well with the material.
The truth isn't out there it's in this little book.
If you have spiritual questions try this.

Interesting stuff
If you're interested in occult or mystical teachings then you should find this audiobook really interesting without being as dense and inaccessible to the layman as something by the likes of Crowley which requires a lot of prior study and understanding before you even begin to have an idea of what's being said.
This is, on the surface, simple enough, but will reward deeper study. I bought the Kindle version on a whim, because it was only 46p and I was enjoying it so added the Audible narration. Listened to it over a couple of days driving around at work and really enjoyed it. Some of the ideas might be dated, but since we're talking about apparent source material that comes from Ancient Egypt I don't think 'dated' is that much of a problem.
If you fancy a change from audio stories you might enjoy this. I certainly did.

This book is a must for everyone. And if you listen to it and find you don't understand it, then you must read it again and again. Look up definitions of words; Google concepts & meditate on it; go all in to understanding it - not that it's a difficult book to comprehend.

Epic book one you get your head around it
I’ve had this book for a while now and attempted to listen to it without ever really committing but recently I decided to sit down with it and now I get it. It’s clearly a gateway to a massive body of work and even this book alone provides a staggering amount of mental growth to master. I’ve listened to this three times over and I’m currently on my forth cycle but it’s something you’ll have to listen to constantly and conduct independent research if you want to understand at a much deeper level. Next on my list is the Emerald Tablets but I won’t purchase that for at least another 6 months until I have time to digest this in more detail. Overall it can be a little wordy and the concepts can be a little confusing but if you listen to it enough it gradually falls in to place. Epic piece of work, the mind will never be the same again. One last point, I’ve started keeping a diary to track my progress through the teachings because it does tend to pull you in different directions as you attempt to understand all the various references and methodologies that arise along the way.

Stunning if you're into the spiritual/occult
What made the experience of listening to The Kybalion the most enjoyable?
I thought it was mind blowing. It provides a clear system that you can enter from any point and engage. Provides entry into the whole concept of unity.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kybalion?
The description of the one mind.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. But I could have. It's only 4.5 hours. It's definitely one that I will listen to again, probably straight away. And I've already bought the Kindle version so I can go back over bits.
Any additional comments?
I thought it was read a bit fast. But that's mainly because with concepts like these, you need to contemplate them. Getting the Kindle copy solves this.

Foundational life lessons

Worthy to the open minded thinker..

A real think piece
It took me a while to get through this, each chapter took me on a massive journey of thoughts and contemplations. I'll probably have to go through it again a few more times to truly grasp what it has to teach.
