Publisher's Summary
The eighth novel of the internationally acclaimed Chaos Seeds saga.
A mesmerizing tale reminiscent of the brutality of Goblin Slayer and the majesty of Game of Thrones.
Audible's Customer Favorite of the Year!
Number one audiobook 2017.
Welcome my friends!
Welcome...to “The Land"!
The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss.
What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.
The only problem is that this monster of a man is being pursued by monsters, a demon, and his own foolish choices. Faced with all the dangers of the deep dark, what will Richter say when the buried horrors of The Land come a calling and asked if he's paid his dues?
Well he'll look right back, stare that horror in the eye, and say, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail!"
Welcome back my friends! Welcome back...to The Land!

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Nick can't make a bad book better unfortunately
I bought this against my better judgement. I read this in text as soon as it came out. It's just well a failure. It focuses solely on the main character without progressing any other storyline. Even then the storyline doesn't progress. Good editing could have reduced this literary vomit to 3 or 4 hours at most. Just pass. Read a summary and wait for a better chapter this one is inconsequential. Also be aware that some reviews might not be objective listeners...I'm all about this series I love it but I'm not a fan of brigideries...and each chapter should be judged by it's own merits, and thus one doesn't cut it

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love this series, but this book has been the biggest disappointment yet!! And even worse we waited for over a year to get it! Then on top of that he spits in all our faces by adding in the first chapter of his new series at the end.... which sucks!!! I think I speak for a lot of people when I say Aleron DO BETTER!!

Great performance but straight money grab garbage
I’ve like all of this series up till now. I’ve never written a review till this book made me so angry. All it is, is a cash grab dumpster book. It’s 15 hrs of stats and skill points with 20 mins of story/action. DO NOT waste your precious dollars on this. Aleron Kong you are a sellout. This book did not advance the story at all. The entire book he doesn’t even progress out of the dungeon/cave he was stuck in the last book. This is trash stat filler content for a quick buck. Do not support this awful excuse for a book.

So I read the book and I loved it. Now that I have listened to Nick read it I freaking love it. The sound effects and voices bring it to life once again. Nicks voice acting just takes it to a whole new level. As long as these two are putting something out I will be reading and listening to it.

Very Disappointing
I waited almost 2 yrs for this book. I rate first 7 books 5 stars each. I truly feel cheated with this book. Previous books developed a great group of characters, basically left out of this book. Why include an entire chapter about diaherra? I feel like I was scammed out of my money. I give this story 1 star. Performance I give 5 stars , Podehl is excellent as always. I was so excited when I found out book 8 was coming out, even pre-ordered. I'm extremely disappointed.

Massive let down after the first 7 books
I've been listening to the land series since book 1 and out of all the books this is one of the worst, while Nick Podehl as always does a fantastic job of bringing the book to life, Aleron Kong in my opinion has completely dropped the ball on this book, after the previous 7 books this doesn't even come close to being on par with them, it seems like his writing has become lazy with a heavy focus on stats and arsenine trivia such as spending a chapter detailing rictors food poisoning and subsequent pooping as Aleron so eloquantky puts it.
All in all I wouldn't recommend it, for the price/credit you'll spend you're better off finding a different book that has more substance and plot than this one.

A whole lot of character sheet reading
Book 8 and this is by far the most pointless if not worst. Virtually no story progression. I have never listened to a book that goes nowhere at all. Debating whether to even bother with the next book at all if it is anything like this. If the character sheet references where taken out you may have about 3 hours of story line.
Please don't get your hopes up.

Highly disappointed in book 8. Tempted to return.
barely anything interesting happens, just what you would expect after a massive war with lots of exp, about 3 or 4 interesting parts but for once out of all 7 books the 8th is one I'd return.. Also the promotion part annoys me at the end, I get it but seriously all of this and then 32mins of a new book. To sum up my experience of 16hrs of boredom, I'd rather Richter get killed and the series end than buy this book ever again, wasn't worth the wait.

Seems like nothing actually happened more like half a book was pretty disappointed, books 1-7 were so good.

Wow, that was terrible
This series was going nowhere quick before, but this book is a bridge too far. I'm out.

Good story. But stat heavy.
I've been invested since the first book but this book does not match up to the quality of the previous ones.
This is becuase this book is very stat heavy. I think that if you cut out all of the stats this book would only be 9hrs long.
On a more positive note this book shows some good character progression and it does include some great battle scenes.
Finally I would have liked to have seen more story progression. It seems like each scene is broken into soo (too) much detail. Took more than 7 hours to progress from the end of the previous book. To make matters worse only 5 days pass in the book but nothing really happened. Just a long monologue and unnecessary stats.
p.s. Nick Podel is the best!

disappointed
Aleron dropped the ball on this book. I’m a huge fan of his writing and his previous seven books. So I was let down by the direction this book took. The storyline was very stat heavy and it felt like the story never truly progressed. Great performance from Nick though.

Ok. Just ok.
The last book was great. The plot in this one was...boring. Half the book is Richter dealing with his prompts from the Masoleum fight. The only redeeming quality is Nick Podehl's incredible voice.

Absolutely nothing happens
Have enjoyed the series up until now. This one however should be condensed down to two chapters and incorporated into the next book.
80% could be deleted and have absolutely no effect on the overall story. I'll still read the next one, but if it's anything like this one I'll give up on the series altogether. There are plenty of good ones out there written by people who don't claim to be the father of the genre (seriously, what is with that?).

book title should be "man enters cave" zero story
You can safely skip this book in the series. the character doesn't really progress at all and there is basically zero story line or characters, the writer has just chucked this together for money it seems. You know a book is bad when the best highlight is the character getting a case of diarrhea.

Wanted a bit more
Nick Podehl was great as he usual is but this was a tedious listen overall. Some cool new stuff but there was a lot of repetitious monologue about the same thing over and over. Would have liked more but it's a sub par set up for another book.
