Best 7 Hours Listening to an Audio Book Ever!

Publisher's Summary
Best Spoken Word Grammy Award nominee!
From stand-up comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish comes The Last Black Unicorn, a hilarious, edgy, and heart-wrenching collection of autobiographical essays that will leave you laughing through tears.
Tiffany Haddish grew up in one of the poorest parts of South Central Los Angeles. Her mother wound up with a debilitating brain injury after surviving a car accident. Tiffany never fit in anywhere: not in the households she rotated through in the foster care system and certainly not at the nearly all white high school she had to ride the bus an hour to attend. As an illiterate ninth grader, Tiffany did everything she could to survive. After a multitude of jobs, she finally realized that she had talent in an area she never would have suspected: comedy. Tiffany faced the 'routine' hindrances of climbing the entertainment business ladder - but had the added obstacles of sex, race, and class in her way. But she got there. She's humble, grateful, down to earth, and funny as hell. She still cleans the toilet the way she was shown by a foster mom who worked as a maid, and she still rolls her joints the way one of her foster dads taught her.
Tiffany can't avoid being funny: It's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

Interesting...
I saw her first on The Daily Show, and I thought she was hilarious. I copped this book think it'd be funny too. But, honestly it wasn't. It was actually very sad. Her story is quite moving and she is rather candid and revelatory of her flaws, which was what made this book worthwhile to me. Tiffany had no problem airing out her demons for the world to see. This whole thang was like a vicarious heart to heart and I totally dig it.

Good read but a bit confusing.
This was a really good book. I could really relate. The story did jump around alot, so I found myself lost at times. You would think that this would be a funny story because she is a comedian. Couldn't be further from the truth. The story was painful, joyous and real. I'm glad she was able to tell her story. Good read.

The last black unicorn indeed!
I loved this book. I particularly enjoyed listening to Tiffany's voice as she narrated the story. And hearing about her experiences makes me admire her even more. Yes, she's a talented comic but most of all she's a super strong woman for having the fortitude to deal with her traumatic childhood & Adult experiences rather allowing these bad memories to envelope her and drown her. I wish her continued success, joy and happiness in all of her endeavors. This book has many life lessons & will revitalize your life!

In one word... Honest, in two 'she ready'
I love Tiffany, she's a natural entertainer who will tell you exactly how it is but make you laugh while doing it.
Her story might be tragic in many parts, but she owns it all. It's her story and she knows how to tell it. I recommend the audio book over the written one, she is an entertainer and listening to her adds to the story in so many ways. She talks to you like you were sitting in her house having drinks and trading stories, she let's you know when things are going to get real too.
Every fibre of my being wants her to continue succeeding, after hearing her story you will too.

I thought I would love this book. I really wanted to. in fact now I get why people often say that about books. the stories were all over the place like short essays with no real ending and lessons and they seemed highly exaggerated. however her performance and depiction of people's voices and emotions was top notch.

Tiffany’s performance is the best thing about this audiobook. Her voices and exclamations are absolutely hilarious! I rarely laugh out loud but I couldn’t control it certain parts of the book. (Bertha and Rosco stories made me lmao)
Her stories are insightful and very very entertaining.

The most awesome book I have read in years.
Get it. You won't regret it. So many belly laughs, but also a heart warming story.

Heartfelt, honest account of a life lived so far
I really enjoyed this book, with having Tiffany read it, it was an emotional rollercoaster, Tiffany is a comedian/actress that I knew I liked by seeing her in movies etc, but as I listened to the book I liked her more. I like her as a person because she’s very thoughtful & respectful of people naturally.
Tiffany definitely deserves all the success- as she’s talented, strong, intelligent & very funny. I really enjoyed this book.

Trigger warning was needed.
I had to stop listening.
The child sex abuse content should have come with a trigger warning.
Good on her for coming so far and making a name for herself despite such a difficult childhood. She's obviously exceptional.
I just couldn't continue listening after the incident with her foster grandpa.

A inspiration however struggled in some areas.
I enjoyed it for the most part however I really struggled with her chapter about Roccoe. It was cringy to hear her imitate him. Almost felt like she was humiliating him. However glad to know she became a success after all that life threw at her. Def a inspiration.

A bit different from my normal choices
After seeing Tiffany on a number of talk shows promoting this book - my interest was piqued. I love Tiffany; she's real, engaging and a whole lot of laughs...
The stories in here are indeed hilarious albeit quite bizarre if not straight up vulgar - but they're her stories and she tells them the way she wants and I appreciate that.
Given this book 3 stars, just due to the repetitive nature of her writing, she would repeat the same thing in the same sentence so it got a bit annoying. I suppose she wrote the book in the way she would speak, but think the editor could have done a better job in getting rid of unnecessary sentences.
Enjoyed the stories, and you find yourself loving Tiffany even more.
