Ara...I made a mistake, we all did...go back to the beginning...it’s not too late.

As the only female to survive the devastating virus, Ara hasn’t seen another human in months - not since her father disappeared. The plague has swept away humanity, and Ara’s world is desolate, haunted by the ghosts of her former life. Her mother. Her sister.

Kaden and his crew live by a code: stay alert, stay alive. When they catch Ara stealing from them, they are furious - and confused. She is the first girl they have seen in three years. And while Kaden knows taking her captive is wrong, he tells himself he’s doing it to protect her.

But with Ara determined to follow through on her father’s mission - go back to the beginning. End the plague - Kaden becomes mesmerized by Ara’s will and beauty. He knows he will do anything to help her, even if it tears their worlds apart.

Good one, but may need a trigger warning

I enjoyed this one. Our heroine is strong and independent. It has a good plot and it’s not predictable. There’s a lot of action. As a romance lover, I could’ve had more of that but it has a strong storyline of relationships without it. I was initially worried it would go down the “we must repopulate the earth” path, but it didn’t really go there and I was happy for it. There are a few scenes that could be triggering in relation to sexual assault so I kinda feel like readers should be given a warning about that at the beginning. We get an ending that lines us up for a second book so I hope that comes to fruition. I would pick it up.

Animal Deaths

Just want to warn anyone else that is sensitive to animal deaths to mot read this book. I hate it when authors introduce you to beloved and remarkable animals just to hurt and kill them off. Plus its just not a very good book in the first place.

Wow!

This is an incredible story! I was captivated from the very beginning! The story line rolls very well and was super interesting! The characters are easy to get to know and follow! I can’t wait for January to get the next part of the story!
The only part I didn’t like was the female narrator. She was a tad nasally at times.

enjoyable

I enjoyed hearing other voices. For the most part the apocalyptic storyline was very creative. Sometimes Ara was a bit over the top, child-like behavior, but i do recommend the book. lll listen to the next book.

Brava

This book kept me captivated for hours at a time, I could barely put it down. I love how everything was wrapped up in a nice neat little package at the end and made it ok that there wasn’t/isn’t a sequel. I found myself annoyed at how little the voice changed from man to man which is why I gave the performance 4/5 however, I loved kaydens performance. Ara‘s voice actress was great for her and her only not the male parts.

It was ok

The performers were great, but there is a phrase that the main character says and thinks over and over which makes me feel like the author believes the read too obtuse to get. That is annoying. Plus, there was really no need for the message to be so cryptic. The dad could have just said it plainly. Last negative thing I’ll say is that I was surprised to find that the author had children when I looked her up after finishing the book. The last surprise and request just doesn’t seem realistic. As a parent, would never ask this if my child. Never.
But! It was an enjoyable listen for cleaning the house.
